Haunted Dreams, haunting reality. *rose*
I was walking down a blacktop path. There was only grayness around me, as far as I could see in any direction, except the black path, leading forward and leading back. Part of me realized that this could not be real. So I stepped off the path.

I started falling, could feel the wind rushing past me, and there was nothing but grayness. I looked down, and saw a white shining thing. I was falling toward it. As I drew closer, I noticed that it was falling, too. Just not as fast as I. I reached out for it, and suddenly the black path was below me, and I was falling toward it quickly.

My hand had just brushed the white feathery thing with my fingertips, when I realized I was out of time. I was going to hit the black path. I braced myself, but the impact hit me hard.

Gasping for breath like the wind had been knocked out of me, I sat up quickly. I was... in my room (My room?) in my uncle's house. Or, was it our family's house? Either way, I got up. I wanted to go somewhere. (Yes, go somewhere.) I shook my head. It felt... fuzzy. I looked in the mirror, and scratched my head. What were those little white things? Where they there before? I don't think they- (they look fine) sure, they look fine. I turned, and left the room. I walked downstairs (quietly) slowly and quietly. In the main room below, there was no one. Where is everyone? Maybe we should find them. (Maybe we should go... exploring.) Nah, Uncle's probably busy. Maybe I should look around.

I turned full circle, and looked at all the staircases. All five. I knew the one to my room, to Uncle Luman's, and the teleporter. Maybe I should go explore the other
(no) stairs... nah. I walked around the room, trailing my hand absently along the walls (feeling for cracks, buttons...) and was surprised when I heard a click. I looked back, and I had bumped (pushed) a button on the wall, and an outline appeared. (push on it) I touched the wall, and it slid away like a hidden door. Maybe I should go tell someone... (walk through) or, I could tell them later.

I walked through, and realized it was some kind of long hall. I don't think I've ever been down this way before. I walked along for some time, before finally ending at a dead end.
(Push it.) I pushed it, and, like the wall before, it slid past, to reveal the outdoors. I walked out, and stopped to look around. It was interesting. It was sort of light out, but not sunny. (Moonlight) It must be the middle of the night. I could stand here all day, looking around. (Keep moving.) I walked along, though, looking as I did. (Faster) I picked up speed, and ended up skipping. I passed buildings (keep quiet and low) and was starting to get tired. (don't stop now) I came up to a stream, and a bridge. I heard voices (hide!) and walked down near the bank and sat down quietly, watching the water flow past. The voices continued on, heading back towards my house... (Luman's house) Uncle Luman's house. I wonder if I should go back (so much to see yet!), but, I could do that later. I wanted to look around more. I got up, and turned to go back up the bank. (Cross the water) Instead, I found myself wading across the water towards the other side. (watch out!) I slipped suddenly and couldn't regain my footing. I tumbled around, and was carried downstream by a fast moving current. I looked ahead, and saw, to my disdain, that the river soon carved it's way through a hill! (take a deep breath!!!) I took a deep breath just seconds before I was swept into the dark tunnel, and the water rushed through around me. I held my breath as I watched the dark rock around me (careful now) and managed not to get scraped by too many jutting rocks. Finally, I was dumped out into a deep, cold pond, in the middle of a cave of some sort. Some of the water , I could feel, kept rushing by (grab for the rocks), but I grabbed and caught hold of a rock, and used it to pull myself out of the current.

I sat there, in the impossibly dark cave, unable to see anything, hearing only the water rushing by
(and me, of course. You can hear me.). My eyes widened. I can hear... a voice in my head? I curled up on my rock, and tried to ignore the voice, tried to concentrate on the sound of the water. The water was a soothing sound, (la la laaa) and so was the lullaby, (la la laaa) and... (la la laa laaaa la la laaaaaa) I am so tired... (la la laaa laaaaa, la la laaaaaa, la la lalala, la, laaaaa).
Rose fell asleep in the dark cold cave.

You're so lucky to only have one voice in your head.
