Continuing on from the "Journal description", this is also a place where I will make random stuff, and a place where I will show off my "artsy-fartsy" side. :XP:
What's the deal with all this Sesshoumaru/Rin Theories?
MOOD: Sick and exhausted
CURRENTLY LISTENING TO: Arcadia from Escaflowne

I just thought I'd say a thing or two about a bit of information floating around the AMC and a guild I am a part of. Lately, I've been hearing really obnoxious noise coming from pretty much everywhere in Gaia. At least, every place I am located on Gaia. And that "noise" is the constant commotion coming from Sesshoumaru/Rin fans. Due to the latest Manga chapters regarding Sesshoumaru and his Meidou Zangetsuha, every single Sesshoumaru/Rin fan had gone nuts making comments such as "Sesshoumaru and Rin are SO going to HOOK UP!" [Immitates valley girl accent]

Well, then, let me jog some information into your walnut-sized brain. And, while I'm at it, I'll knock some common sense in there too. Despite the reaction Sesshoumaru had towards Rin in the later chapters, it does not change the fact that his relationship with Rin will remain forever, Brother/Sister (in the case of some people Father/Daughter). It is immensely obvious that Sesshoumaru would react like that if Rin died. In fact, any father or brother who cared for their family member would react the same way Sesshoumaru did.

Just because Sesshoumaru got angry because he felt he could not save Rin, does not automatically point to the fact that he is in love with her in a romantic way. Yes, I will admit right here and right now that Sesshoumaru does in fact love Rin, but it is not in the way Inuyasha and Kagome love each other. People should know there are different kinds of love. Love is not rigidly equated to romance between a male and a female. There is love between friends, love between the intimate relationship between a male and female, family love, and so much more.

Sesshoumaru was upset because he cared for Rin, and that in a way, she brought something to his heart that he could not locate. The way Sesshoumaru holds her is different from the way Inuyasha holds Kagome or the way Usagi reacts to Mamoru. He holds her gently, and the way he positions Rin in his arm is as though he is holding a child. Indeed Rin is important to Sesshoumaru, but it will never become a romantic relationship.

::EDIT::
Here is a better essay I just produced. I'm keeping the old one, in case people like that one better.

The idea of Sesshoumaru/Rin sickens me. How many people have I met who made a comment related to: "Sesshou-mama said that he's become like his father in the strangest way, so that must mean that he's falling hopelessly in love with Rin!" again? [sighs] This is getting tiresome, and it's starting to bug me.

For the last time, and for the sake of society's sanity, just because Sesshou-mama said something like that, doesn't mean that Sesshoumaru is going to fall head-over-heels in love with her. Love comes in many different forms. Yes, it is present among a man and woman who are related romantically. However, there are things called family love, friendship love, and the love for inanimate objects.

Unfortunately for all those Sesshoumaru/Rin fans out there, sufficient evidence of their romantic relationship is scarce. True, Rin may often show signs of caring for Sesshoumaru (i.e. taking care of him when he had been horribly wounded by Inuyasha's Kaze no Kizu) and Sesshoumaru may save her life many times. However, the budding romance in this group seems to point to Kohaku and Rin.

Yes. I know some people (thankfully not all of them) are going to start tearing at my eyes, but I feel there are more verifications of a romantic relationship between Kohaku and Rin rather than Sesshoumaru and Rin. For example, though Kohaku had tried to kill her under Naraku's control, Rin knew that he had attacked her. Yet, she had never shown signs of fear towards him.

She tries to approach him, and when Kohaku reminds her that he had tried to kill her, she responds with: "It doesn't bother me at all." This means that Rin has absolute trust in a boy she hardly knew and this boy had nearly taken her life. In the case of Suikotsu, when he returned to his original state, Rin had feared him, and refused to come any closer, despite the fact that he returned to his original self.

Furthermore, when Sesshoumaru is off fighting youkai, Rin sits down and waits with utmost confidence that he will return. Not once does she fully worry about his condition. This child-like act is something that can only happen between a father/daughter or brother/sister relationship. Rin's naive and absolute belief that Sesshoumaru will always return to her safe and sound is something that has given away the fact that they are not a couple.

In the case of Kohaku, when he forces Rin to return to Jaken, she worries the whole way back. She keeps thinking about how he is doing with all those terrifying youkai. Every time she saw him, in the Shichinintai arc, she worried that Sesshoumaru might kill him and begged to herself that he would disappear before he returned.

Sesshoumaru hardly touches Rin, unless they are in a desperate situation, and when he does, he does not hold her like his lover. He holds her as though she is his daughter or sister. In the case of Kohaku, of course they had hardly touched, as they barely know each other. Yet in the recient chapters of Inuyasha, when the Hell Hound attacked Kohaku and Rin, he had thrown himself over her and held his arm around her, as though a feeble attempt to protect her.

A young pubescent boy does not randomly put his arms around a girl like that no matter what. And though a lot of Sesshoumaru/Rin fans claim this fact as Kohaku being a naturally benign person, I feel it is something beyond that. Though Kohaku and Rin are young, they (at least Kohaku) would never dare to touch each other that way.

When Sesshoumaru is leaving and tells Rin to stay behind, she simply obeys and sits down with Ah-Un waiting for him without another backward glance. But when Kohaku tells her to leave, or is walking by, Rin tends to stare at him, and sometimes follows him. When Kohaku tells her to leave, she does not obey him immediately. She tries to reason with him, before he tells her a second time. In the case of Sesshoumaru, with just one word (i.e. "leave" wink Rin follows his orders without another word other than "hai!"

Finally, the biggest clue I can think about the Kohaku/Rin relationship would be their fate. In the end of the Meidou-Sekki arc, Sesshou-mama said that Kohaku and Rin share a similar fate, and it's the fact that neither of them can be revived by Tenseiga. I understand it sound weak as it is. However, as a true believer in fate, when two people share the same fate, they are closer than others who aren't.

As for those who claim they've read it in fanfics, those are wrong. Though something similar to "going back or forward in time" happened between Kagome and Inuyasha, there are two strong evidences that make Inuyasha/Kagome compatible. One, Kagome is Kikyou's reincarnation, and two, Inuyasha and Kagome are tied to each other by the red thread of fate; which is what ultimately made them meet each other in such an unusual way.

In the sense that Rin grows older through magic, again, that cannot happen. Yes, Inuyasha is an anime about the magic of youkai, however, it has it's sense in reality as well. Suddenly aging is impossible; though kuro miko Tsubaki became fifty years younger, her snow-white hair is solid proof that she youth is only a temporary illusion.
