"Look at me! I'm petting my dog everywhere!"
So yes, for the past six months of my life, I have been devoted to that rascal of a puppy of mine. German Shepher Pure Bred, with blood lines tracing back to kingdom come. He's so regal and handsome, it's almost more than I can bear. I MUST show him! But that isn't the issue we've come to discuss today.
So, why is it that when I take my hand and pet my dog, scratching and stroking, that it isn't some public scandal? I can't do that to some other random guy on the street, can I? I mean, look, I can approach a stranger's dog and ask, "Can I pet your dog?" And they'll mostly say, "Sure! Go right ahead." I will then kneel down and pet the dog furiously. Rubbing its back, scratching its ears, sometimes even giving a brief belly rub to the attention whores out there.
Well, lets think here. In comparison with a human, if I were to do that, I could be called on the charges of molestation and attempted rape. Belly rub? Scratching of ears? Stroking of back? Yes, indeed I could be called on sexual harassment if I were to do that on any stranger. It's interesting, though, thinking on it. I can-basically-molest a dog I've never met before, but not so much on a human of the same degree.
Interesting how species barriers are seen, eh?
