Kayla's Journal
This is an account of Kayla's experiences at The Barton Academy of Gaiamancy.
I’ve been taking time to enjoy my break, relaxing and not thinking about school at all. I spent lots of time with Dottie and even got to visit Penn’s Woods, my home. It was great to see everyone again, especially Hannah. We went to all the places we used to hang out, like Manny’s ice cream shop and our little spot by the river. I also paid a visit to my old school and saw some of my former teachers. And at night we went up on the hill to look at the stars.

But now it’s over, and today is the first day of classes for my second quarter at the Barton Academy of Gaiamancy. My first class was Elementals. Our instructor, Mr. Blacket, says the “meat” of this course will involve exploring the various “flavors” of gaiamancy, making us all “very well-seasoned” students. I don’t know. Maybe he has an obsession with food or something.

In any case, I was very hungry by the time I got to my next class, Strength and Focus Training. I’ll admit this has been a problem in the past with me. The energies I channel are usually rather weak ones, but other times I release a sudden burst of power with no direction in particular. That can be somewhat dangerous. Look at what happened in Mr. Horitt’s class last quarter. I nearly fried the whole class. Mrs. Arnold, our teacher who likes to be called Luula, showed us some exercises to increase our conductivity to gaia energies. Basically, we are performing the same action, whether it is an earth movement or a water manipulation, over and over again. Each time, we increase the flow of energy just a little bit. After fifty-four electric discharges, my whole arm was feeling numb. I hope it gets easier.
