Chapter 4
Chapter
4

Elizabeth came from a small, droopy bedroom, into a big, elegant, bedroom. Her mouth dropped in bewilderment. Where was she? How did she get here? So many question popped up into her she didn't take the time to look at her new surroundings. When she stopped thinking and finally looked around the room she noticed how gorgeous the room was. It was so spacious that it made her seem really puny. Glancing around the room in all it's wonder made her feel like she was rich again. The bed was a queen size canopy bed with a very beautiful bed spread covering it. It had gold drapes hanging on the side of each post. Elizabeth felt like a queen once slept in it. The walls were decorated with a crimson red, with little swirls of gold in it.
The bed and the whole room it's self was fantastic. Elizabeth gazed over to the other side of the room and her eyes widened. On the other side of the room was a gigantic fireplace. It was a big authentic eighth century fireplace with angels carved into the base of it. It took up almost the whole side of the room. Elizabeth noticed the widows of the room. They were these beautiful stain glass windows. She got a better look at one of them and it had little roses in the corner of it. 'What's going on? Is my family rich again and we moved to a new house over night?' So many question popped in to her head she didn't know if this was really or not. It was all to much for her. She took a seat on one of the chairs that were in the room. Her brain hurt from thinking to much.
“Do you like it?” Came a voice that broke her train of thought as well as the silence.
Elizabeth turned around to see a very handsome man standing there. A glistening smile ran across his face. He looked older then Geoffrey, but not by a lot. Elizabeth thought he looked to be in his mid thirties, but because of his stunning appearance he looked no older then 20. He had short brown hair that came down to his shoulders with side burns and pale green eyes that were almost mesmerizing. The man was tall as well, from where Elizabeth was standing he looked to be six and a half feet tall. He was pale like Geoffrey was and she wonder if they were related. She also wonder at why they were so pale to. Maybe they were allergic to the sun or they were just albino.
After a few minutes of silence Elizabeth answered his question. “Yes. It's amazing.” She said then asked, “Were you talking about the fireplace or the room?”
He laughed. “Both.” He smiled at her again after he was done laughing.
Elizabeth blushed feeling silly for a minute. She finally spoke after an awkwardly long silence. “The fireplace is magnificent. Was it already built in the house when you bought it?”
He nodded, “Why yes it was.” He answered her in a matter of fact tone.
She smiled at him and he smiled back. “My name is Eli......”
She was interrupted by him when he finished her sentence. “Elizabeth. Yes I know. Geoffrey was talking about you all night. He told me how beautiful you are and I had to see for myself if it was true. It looks like he was right too.”
Elizabeth could feel herself blushing and he laughed. “My name is Edmund, my dear, but you may call me whatever you wish.” He bowed just like how Geoffrey bowed to her mom. Graceful and smooth.
Elizabeth nodded her, “It's nice to meet you Edmund.” She bowed back, but felt stupid immediately after because girls were suppose to curtsy not bow.
“Like wise Elizabeth.” Edmund noticed her blush and curtsy for her so she didn't feel stupid in front of him. They both laughed and the Edmund asked, “Would you like a tour of the house?” Elizabeth nodded. He led her out of the room into a large hallway. When they entered the hall way Elizabeth wasn't surprised at how big and long they were. They weren't anything fancy except all the paintings on the wall. The nice gentlemen lead Elizabeth down the long stretch of hall and told her about all the paintings on the walls as they passed by each. She was very interested in hearing all of it, but slowly thinking in the back of her mind she thought. 'Where am I?' They stopped at one painting in particular.
“Who's this?” Elizabeth asked when he didn't say who it was.
“Why? You do not recognize him?” He chuckled. But still didn't answer her question. She observed again, but this time more throughly. After a couple a seconds her mind finally clicked. “It's Geoffrey!” She cried in astonishment. Edmund began to laugh and shake his head.
“Yes.” Said a calm voice from behind Edmund.
Edmund and Elizabeth both turned around to see Geoffrey standing there. A smile flew across Elizabeth face when she saw his beautiful eyes looking her way.
“Oh Geoffrey. When did you get here?” Said Edmund in a questioning tone.
“Just now. Edmund I need to speak with you with you for a moment.” Geoffrey had pulled Edmund away form Elizabeth's hearing distance. She glanced over to see what they were saying, but she couldn't hear a word out of it. It's like they weren't eve talking at all. There lips were moving, but no sound was coming out. Well that's all that Elizabeth was getting out of the whole conversation. Geoffrey's eyes hovered over Edmund's shoulder and meet Elizabeth's curious eyes. She looked away quickly and began to study the portrait of Geoffrey again. She noticed writing in the corner of the painting. She could barely read it, but it looked like a date was written in the corner. Elizabeth leaned in closer to get a better look at it. The date read 1860.
Elizabeth's eyes grew in misunderstanding. 'How could that be! This painting was painted over a hundred years ago. Geoffrey is no older then eighteen or nineteen. What's going on?' She thought all this with out even realizing that Geoffrey was standing next to her.
“Are you alright there Elizabeth? You look like you've just seen a ghost.” He giggled at the last thing he said. Elizabeth turned to face him and spoke quickly trying to cram as many questions as she could get at him on one breath. “How old are you? Why am I here. You do realize my parents won't stand for this if this is a kidnapping.” She spoke each word slowly, but with firm to them.
Geoffrey broke out in a laugh and answered her questions with out to long of a hesitation. “I am eighteen. There is nothing going on, well there is, but I can't tell you that. You'll have to find that out later on your own. As far as the kidnapping part. I didn't kidnap you. Your parents know your here and that you're going to spend the rest of your vacation here.”
Elizabeth couldn't believe what she was hearing. “I never agreed to this. You never asked me if I wanted to spend the rest of my winter vacation here.” Her teeth grind in her mouth as she got anger. Geoffrey saw her anger and tired to calm her down saying. “You said you would though. Relax you are fine here. I promise.” He gave her a heart filled smile. “You may leave if you wish...” His sentence broke off as he stared at the ground with a sad expression.
“Well..... fine I'll stay, but can I leave when ever I feel like it?” She said after seeing him sad.
He smiled and Edmund came in saying, “I'm sorry Elizabeth dear, but I must take of something else where. I'm sure Geoffrey here wouldn't mind giving you the rest of the tour.” With that he turned on his heels and quickly walked off down the hall.
Geoffrey and Elizabeth stared at him walk off quickly before he was out of sight. Then Geoffrey smiled at Elizabeth while circling around her with wide, curious eyes. “Well, you ready to finish that tour?” Geoffrey asked her while smiling pleasantly. She nodded and he began the tour with her. He showed her many rooms. A lot which she was allowed into like the living room, dinning hall, kitchen, some studies and a big hall where the front door was. It was all so amazing to Elizabeth. When she use to live in her old house it was big, but not as big as Geoffrey's house. It was huge. There also was a lot of rooms that Geoffrey didn't or wasn't allowed to show her. She wonder to herself, 'how come?', but didn't say it a lot loud. He didn't even say anything about them other then, “we can't go in that room.”
By mid-afternoon when Elizabeth thought the tour was done. Geoffrey surprised her with one more room to show her. “What room are you going to show me now?” Asked Elizabeth when Geoffrey told her. He didn't say anything. He just smiled ans towed her down another billion hallways. “Do you ever get lost in your
house?”
Geoffrey laughed, but stop and said, “After living in it for awhile you tent to know every nook and cranny.”
Elizabeth smiled at his beautiful face that was smiling back at her. Geoffrey walked pretty fast and Elizabeth had to quicken her pace to keep up with him. She managed to keep up for a few minutes and that's all that Elizabeth needed anyway. They arrived at they're destination. Elizabeth was surprised at how the door were so plain. There was nothing fancy about it, just a door. “What's inside?” She asked while Geoffrey reached for the door to opened it. He motioned for her to go in and with caution she took a step into the dark room.
It was dark alright. The kind of dark you find when the lights are off and there are no windows in the room dark. It didn't scare Elizabeth, it just made her focus more on where she was. “Where are we?” She asked into the black room. She didn't hear anything from Geoffrey. In the far side of the room she heard Geoffrey's giggle and the lights flickered on.
