Axl...
...
I know you can hear me, Axl. You can't deny me.
...Lumine?
Aren't we quick on the uptake?
But didn't we... Didn't I...?
You'd like to think that, wouldn't you? You'd like to think that the Hunters had actually been rid of a possible threat, that there was no chance of it returning.
You'd like to think you killed me. Isn't that right, Axl?
...Whatever it is you want, I'm not doing it. I'm not letting you use me!
Oh, but you don't have a choice in the matter. You know it... You know that in a mere few minutes, or even a few seconds you could black out completely, never to return to the world of the waking.
The flood of damage warnings and system alerts ringing in the back of his mind confirmed the other's words, as did the overwhelming sleepiness that fell over what little he could feel of his body.
Without me, you're going to die. And what then? All that work to become a Hunter, all the thankless lives you've saved... And what of your idols, X and Zero? You want to save them, don't you?
...
Face it, Axl...
The gentle, quiet grip of generator failure began pulling harder with every second that passed, trying to lull him into eternal rest.
You need me.
...Fine.
Glaringly bright white and lavender light exploded outwards to fill the room and beyond in no more than a second, concealing everything within its veil. The change happened almost as quickly; midnight turned to snow, garnet to amethyst, and all feeling was returned to him in an instant as two DNA Souls became one. He raised himself to his feet, taking no time to examine his new countenance.
A streak of black tore through the persisting cover of light, banishing it as quickly as it came. His aim faltered none, even with the disgruntled shriek of agony from his target. The rampaging Maverick madly tried to wrench the stinging arrow from his shoulder, only to find himself in a great deal more pain from the attempt. Wide, infuriated red eyes locked onto his torturer as a coarse, struggled voice rose from him. "What... I... I KILLED you! Why are you still standing?! WHAT ARE YOU?!"
The end of the Black Arrow raised minutely, matching the aim of his amber eyes as they pierced through the hellish aura of rage in the other's gaze. He spoke only one word before the second, and final bolt hit its mark; the only thing both he and Lumine had truly agreed on.
"Reprise."
((Yes, say all your "WTF?!"s now. I'm a demented little fangirl with an overactive imagination and far too much time on my hands. @.x; Blarg.))
