I raise my head to the quiet breeze that ruffles my fur. Sniffing the air I feel a sudden presence unlike me. I carefully walk through the dark wooded trees which blott out the moon, I cannot see. Again that presence lingers near, closer now. Ever so close. I hear a gun shot and run even faster, oblivious to the bullet in my side. Running and running my energy is draining fast! Help oh please someone help, I collapse in a heap on the ground. Panting my last few breaths I feel it now, that aching presence is finally here. Through the night you hear screams, when morning comes I walk out triumphantly.(Dedicated to my brothers and sisters who have survived and lived with so much pain)
