We were in battle.
I could see them, our enemy, attacking our ship without any apparent reason, wave after wave of them attacking the crew. The crew. My family. My brothers and sisters. I had to protect them. No one hurts my family and lives to see another sunrise. Still groggy from sleep, I gathered my bow and arrows and ran out into the middle of the chaos.
How ugly they were.
I have faced abandonment, sea monsters, marooning, and black-hearted pirates whose thirst for blood was unquenchable. But nothing I ever saw before could prepare me for the pig-faced demons I was shooting my best arrows at. No matter how fast I shot at them, no matter how good my aim, I was getting beaten down. Their heavy clubs hurt more than anything I've evr felt before, I don't know why. I felt a hard blow to my head, then fell to my knees.
It hurt so much. I could taste the salty metallic flavor of blood.
My vision was fading. The stars were dancing, and the moon looked as if it didn't know whether to stay in the water or go back up to the sky. I felt somebody pick me up. It was one of the demons. He smiled smugly at me, then threw me off the ship. Just before I fell to the cold embrace of the sea below, I glimpsed a face in the crowd, calling my name in agony.
Jedon.
I memorised the tears on his face, the sword by his side, the sound of his voice.
Because unless the Great Goddesses themselves treated my wound before I hit the waves, I would never see him again. Not in this life.
*SPLASHHH!!!*
Far away, in a far off land, lives a child who loves to siiiiiiiiiiiing......... she opens up he-er fragile heart, and her song, it takes wiiiiiiiiiiing........ She sings la la la, la la la laaaaaaaaaaaaaa............ la la la, la la laaaaaaaaaaaaaa......... la la la, la la la laaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa.............
Mom................. Mom................. Sing it again.........
I woke up, in the middle of a vast world of blue, a mix of the night sky overhead and the Great Sea I was floating in.
I looked around. It couldn't be possible. Why wasn't I dead? There had to be a reason....... And do you know what? I was leaning on a piece of driftwood. It was small, but it had kept me alive.
I was alive! I WAS ALIIIIIIIIIIIIIVE!!!!!!!! HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!
I was so happy. I had survived! Against all the odds, I, Soratami Donpanina Taoris, was very much alive!!!! (But I swam around a little just to be sure)
I felt the back of my head. No blood. NO sign of injury at all. I looked up at the pale moon and the silver stars and uttered a silent prayer to the Goddesses. They had saved my life. But why me?
I shook my head and smiled. It didn't matter. I was alive. Now all I had to focus on was how I was going to get back to the ship. Jedon will be expecting me.......
I looked up to the stars. Let's see, if we were heading North before the attack, and if Amavshi the Huntress/constellaton was pointing her sword at the moon, then...... yes, interesting..... I was lost.
And there I floated, wondering if I could ride on a Big Octo to safety when I heard a voice from behind say "What's this?"
I turned around. Something about that voice seemed familiar somehow...........
And I was looking into the deep blue wooden eyes of a boat, masterfully carved in the shape of a noble lion.
With no one on board.
To be continued..........
