"Bang! Bang! Bang!" yelled a six year old Katrina, pointing her fingers at her older brother.

Her nine year old brother laughed, "Ka-Blamo!" he yelled, pointing his fingers at her.

"Ba-Boom!" Yelled Katrina, pointing over at Jacob.

"EXPLOSION!" yelled Jacob, fake-throwing a grenade.

Katrina hit the ground, and started screaming. "They caught me! They caught me! They're going to take me to the jail-place again!" she burst out giggling, unable to control herself.

"And now the world go boom!" Yelled Jacob, opening his arms to emphasize the effect.

They both burst out laughing, not having the ability to keep quiet. A butterfly fluttered past overhead, and Katrina stopped laughing to look up and marvel at it's beauty.

"It's so pretty" she said, entranced at it's wings, which were orange and black. Her eyes followed it's every move, watching it go up and down Up and down She lifted up her finger to touch it, and it flew away.

"Don't leave me" she said, a whine in her voice.

"The butterflies of doom have left you, and they shall never return!" said an evil voice behind her.

She jumped, and turned around to find her brother with a huge grin plastered all over his face.

"The butterflies of doom will never leave me, for I am their MASTER!" she yelled to nothingness, for she was falling down, down, down, into blackness. She looked around, confused.

"Where am I?" said the confused six year old, looking around her confused.

There was a shuffling beside her, and a strong hand gripped her shoulder.

"Quiet," said the voice of her brother. It seemed so far away.

"What's happening?" she said in a whisper, fear flooding every inch of her body.

"Them."

Katrina drew in a gasping breath. Their parents had warned them not to go anywhere near any of them.

'Them' were the darkness-bringers. They brought fear, despair, anger, sadness, depression, war, all that stuff wherever they went. The people in the cities just called this 'folklore', but the village they were from knew better. These, were the ones that caused all the previous wars in the world.

"Brother?"

"What?" replied a clearly anxious Jacob behind her.

"We're going to die, aren't we?"

He shook his head, "Don't talk like that."

He didn't sound to sure of himself. Katrina gathered up her courage, and stood up.

"Don't come anywhere near me or my brother," she said, lifting her arms out in front of her, "I won't let you."

In front of her, there was a great rumbling sound as she moved her arms around. Slowly, the light flooded the area again, and all was back to normal. Well, almost.

In front of them, the ground was slightly dug up, and a wash barrel was on it's side, completely exploded. Katrina stuck a triumphant smile on her face as she watched the darkness recede into the distance, and sat back down, looking at the grass.

"Er, Katrina?"

"Whassgoinon?"

"Is this a flashback?"

"Unless the world was revolved in darkness, then yes."

In front of her, Smas had come into view. She finally remembered where she was, and looked up at Smas, who had taken out his notebook, and was writing down something.

"What you writin'?" Asked Katrina, trying to peer over his shoulder.

"It's nothing," said Smas, pulling the notebook close to his chest. There was no way he was going back.
