"Curly," whispered Katrina, "Curly!"

Slowly, Curly's eyes opened, and she looked at Katrina, the look in her eyes obvious.

What?

"You think you can walk, now?" she asked her.

Curly yawned.

Katrina sighed, and set her down. She got onto her feet after about five minutes, and trotted around Katrina.

"I'm taking that as a yes," said Katrina, "Now, Smas has randomly disappeared, and I'm going to need you to help me."

Curly instantly lifted her nose to the air, and started sniffing around. She barked, and took off, leaving Katrina to sprint after her. Katrina couldn't keep up for the life of her, and soon found herself falling behind. There was no way that she would be able to keep up, so she stopped herself. But in her hurry to stop, she slipped on a particularly wet bit of mud, and as she fell, her head found a rock jutting up from the ground.

She's gone insane, thought Jacob to himself.

"I heard that, you know!" shouted Katrina from behind the couch.

"You know, just 'cause you can read minds, doesn't necessarily mean that you should be randomly tapping into mine!"

Katrina, as the 13 year old self, giggled. "No, you're right, bit I just like annoying the crap out of you!" she shouted, before running through a door to the outside, Jacob close behind her.

"There's no way your stubby little legs could carry yourself over here fast!" she yelled behind her, only to find Jacob directly behind her, smirking. "Ack!" she yelled, before falling flat on her face.

"Oh, really?" asked Jacob, placing a foot on her chest to stop her from escaping. She started to thrash around.

"GET OFFA ME!" she yelled at him, punching his shins. He sighed, and decided to let her have her way. He smirked when he saw her fuming.

"Oh, is little mind-reading sissy having troubles?" he asked her in a baby voice.

"I'm having troubles because I saw your FACE!" she yelled, before getting up, and punching him in the face.

Slowly, the world around Katrina started fading in. She groaned, and rubbed her head.

"Mind-reading, eh?" she asked herself, and concentrated on Curly.

There's that Peanut-butter scent that's always on his clothes, idiot. But what's that other scent? Smells clean. Mmm. I'd sure like to sniff that in the morning!

Katrina shook her head, chuckling, and then concentrated on Smas.

There. I've come. Now stop scolding me. What the heck?! What did I do? Better nod. Just nod Yeah

"Come where?' muttered Katrina to herself. She sighed, and decided to run in the direction the signal was strongest.

"Curly!" exclaimed Katrina, rushing up to her dog. She had found her in a clearing, chasing a rabbit. When she tapped into her thoughts, she found that the task at hand didn't mean much anymore; not after she found lunch.

"Look, Curls," said Katrina, taking Curly's head into her hands, "I can find Smas. Easily. Yes, I can, stop doubting me, I can read your mind. And I can track Smas by listening to his thoughts, and going in the direction where the signal was strongest."

She tapped into Curly's mind.

Uhhh Haha You can't read this. Anyways. Yeah.

"Uhhh, haha, I read it," said Katrina, shaking her head, "Let's go! Now all I need is a bottled water."

She chased in the direction where the signal was strongest, listening to him the entire way.

Alright, just lie. He bought it. Yeah! Wait, don't push me into the car! I can walk! Ha! I don't want to, I'm not going home. Oh, heck no. The bat. Come on!

Katrina didn't need to listen to anything anymore, she stumbled into another clearing, where Smas was cornered up against a police car, with a police man. Man, the guy looked familiar.

"Hey! Leave him be!" she shouted after the man, who instantly turned around, and smirked when he saw her.

"Well, well, Katrina Bounty. Makes sense, don't you think? Weve been thinking of sending a bounty hunter after you, and what do you know? Now, your little 'friend' here has been watching you for awhile. I'm trying to get his notes away from him, but he seems to be a little, what's the word? Ah, yes, unpersuasive."

"You-you're lying," finished Katrina, "Smas would never do anything like that."

The cop chuckled, "Ah, yes, your jailbreak really did do something for us. I gave him the chance to not go home. Lies, of course, but that's something the job has in store. Now, come with me, and we'll get this sorted out back at headquarters."

Katrina involuntarily shivered, "You sick idiot," she muttered, as the officer put cuffs on her arms. He shoved the trio into the backseat of his car, and started driving.

"Katrina, I-" started Smas, but Katrina cut him off.

"I don't want to hear it, Smas," she said bitterly, "It might give me the chance to forgive you."

"One quick stop," said the police officer, stopping in front of a gray building after about four hours. He picked up Curly, and brought her inside, returning empty-handed.

"I knew it. Purebred Spitz, the pound gladly took her."
