Contemplations of POiSON~
It's just junk, really.
*Inspired by a dream*
(I wrote this back in August of 06' so it isn't entirely recent, but I figured it might be of some interest to those suffering from boredom out there.)

I had a dream that I could swear I've already had...at least twice before. Each ending turns out just a little differently than the last, though... Well, anyways, here is the story it inspired. It's basically my dream.. just with a couple of changes.

----------------------------------------------

I was in a city of ruin and chaos was flooding the streets. People running and screaming, there was no time to breathe. The sky had gone dark and the black clouds had begun swirling around this dismal place. Then I saw them. Creatures much larger than I.

One had the appearance of a snake with his narrow glowing eyes and forked tongue. He wore a dark cloak that dragged the ground after every stride. Between us was what appeared to be a tank, though no happy dolphins swam here. The water had an unusual radiance of the emitted blue.

From behind me came a monster with a head resembling the snakes of medusa. But it had no snakes, just a seemingly endless number of independant eyes that followed whom and what they pleased. I jumped into the water and swam. I thought I'd be safe, but the water soon came to be shallow as I reached the other side.

There stood the serpant. His eyes watching the faces of terrified people. He didn't so much a grin at their misery and cowardice. Only looked down past his nostrils, unfeeling. He glanced up, making my heart jump. I didn't want to be seen and become another target.

But no, he was not looking in my direction. He looked much further into the distance and I followed his stare. A wave of enormous proportion was filling the streets. I had to find cover. I ran fearfully through the streets, somehow avoiding the creatures in pursuit of victims. I came upon a building of stone and saw the windows had enough room for me to fit on the sill. I waited.

I had only been there a moment and I saw an eye the size of a car staring me down. My heart felt like it was going to explode.

My pulse racing, I jumped out of the hole and ran to another building. It followed me. I couldn't outrun it. Just then something diverted it's attention and I slipped into a stairwell that had been half destroyed. I couldn't stay there long. I had to get moving. The wave coming ever closer.

I looked to the other side of the tank and saw a forest. It looked less than welcoming but I decided to take my chances. I had no way of getting to the forest with out crossing the path of the beasts.....unless I went through the water. YES! I jumped into the tank and swam, missing the chaos and death that had awaited me on the solid path.

I got out of the water (somehow already dry) and cautiously entered the black land. I passed a cottage with broken pottery lining the front yard and a hut that had been overgrown with weeds and black branches. I couldn't stop yet, but had to get further away, for the creatures were still in view. It was not safe here. As I continued on I could swear I heard a voice rasply whisper, "The powere. She emits the sacred powere. Come sweet child. Find your way to us."

I ventured further still into the dark forest and came upon a a screen of black vines covering an almost hidden door. I wanted to continue on but was soon pulled in against my will.

This place I had entered was a complete transformation from the dismal place I had just been. The sky almost appeared bright and lusch greenery covered every wall. Ivy was growing in every direction. I looked down and saw I was standing on a ledge with a rather long drop to the water of pristine blues.

I stood there mezmerized at my strange captors. They had skin of pale green and their eyes of emerald and sapphire. They had no wings, but the ivy seemed to be part of them.

They began to speak to one another. Saying that I emitted a powere, though I did not understand. Then they questioned where I had come from, saying they sensed my presence but did not know how I came here. I explained where I had come from and they suddenly became stiff, saying that I could not stay long or their lives would be in jeopardy as well.

I was confused as they sent me out of their green paradise and warned me of the dangers of the dark forest....
