What is Fanime?
Fanime is a convention held by fans, for fans. (If you couldn’t already tell by the name.)
So yes, it’s an anime convention. One of the biggest in America.
It’s a great place to cosplay, buy anime related products, talk about your favorite series, start a few new series, watch anime, participate in contests, and more.
And for those that don’t like to express their love of anime at school with fears of being dubbed “uncool”, you don’t have to worry about that. If you see anyone you know there, then they were there too, right?

Registration: Ticket prices vary for different days. Currently, registration for all four days is 55$ per person. This offer lasts until May 11th, 12:00 PM.

FAQ
When do I go?
The days that you go are really up to you, your family, and your schedule. I think I’m going to be going on Saturday and Sunday.
How do I get there?
That depends. You can hitch a ride with someone else, have your parents drive you, or even take BART.
Before you even try, DON’T ASK ME TO GIVE YOU A RIDE.
Now I may possibly might be able to give someone a ride, but not everyone!
How long is it?
Fanime lasts the majority of the day for each days, but people are free to come and go as they please.
I don’t have a cosplay outfit!
…Then get one!
Or if you can’t, then go as an OC (original character).

Now that all the boring stuff is over, the best part of Fanime. What you actually do when you’re there!

Yes, this is a place to cosplay and not get made fun of. In fact, you’ll be praised!
You wear it to the convention. You can sign up to participate in the contest, but I’m not sure when the deadline is…

Karaoke Contest
“Featuring a diverse group of passionate and talented singers, the 7th Annual Fanime Con Karaoke Contest brings the spirit of friendly competition and the excitement of vocal peformance to the convention stage. If you enjoy singing, come sign up for our contest, or just come and cheer on your fellow fans!
The contest consists of two rounds. In the qualifying round, up to 30 acts will compete for the chance to advance to the finals. The top 10 scoring acts in the qualifying round qualify for the Finals, from which the winners are selected. Finalists receive cool stuff, and the winner also receives a beautifully customized silver microphone trophy.”
Note: Some songs are banned, having been sung too often.

AMV Contest
I know it’s short notice, but there is a contest. Rules are online, and the deadline to send in videos is May 5th.
Video Programming
Many anime will be shown, in marathons and themed blocks. You can also watch AMVs made by other people (participating in the contest).
Guess what? On Sunday, they’re showing the entire Ouran series! (Episodes 1-26)

Okay, so I had this idea that we could put together a convention group. We get a name and create a symbol, then print a bunch of copies of them on iron on sheets and give them to all of our Famine going friends. Then at Fanime, we give more patches to out friends we make, Gaian friends attending, and more. Then at next Fanime, we arrange a gathering for everyone who has a patch. Then we change the color of the patch and give more out, and blah, blah, blah. What do you think of the idea? Now all we need is a name… it should be something that can describe all of us for years to come, and something that isn’t and won’t become offensive.
