Journey of a Ronin
The thoughts, musings, insanity and rants of a wandering warrior. A self professed student/artist/dreamer/anarchist, riding the waves to find my place in the world.
Planning, scheming and dreaming
Well, I'm now 21 years old, but I don't feel all that different. Mar. 22 was pretty much like any other Tuesday, school, then I ran home. They called me in to work that day though, it was an emergency since my coworker was suddenly sick. It was some kind of 24 hour bug (she was better later on), but I went in, it wasn't too bad. I think this time, I may actually be able to save some money from my paycheque, since I didn't burn my credit card too much this time around. I also have money owed to me by the guys for the hotel room, I plan to collect when they get back from classes.

My dad said he'd get me a PS2, but I don't know if I wanna hold out for a PS3, since I heard rumors that it can backplay PS2 and PS1 games, don't know when it will come out though. I've got a lot of other good stuff too, so I'm not in much of a hurry, it's not like I'd have a lot of time to play with it at any rate.

3 of the 4 books I ordered came through the mail today. I'm just waiting for one more. After using amazon.com, it's my opinion that ordering books through the internet is not a good idea, unless you're lazy, paitent, unable to get to a bookstore, or some combination thereof. I ordered one book directly from Amazon, the rest are from other parties that sell through them. Althrough they give you discounts, after you pay for shipping and handling, you may as well just go to the bookstore. The book I ordered directly from Amazon came in 3 short days, the other 2 took about a week and a half, and I'm still waiting for the last one. And in the long run, I paid about the same amount as if I had just gone to the bookstore after taxes and shipping and handling.

I hung out with friends and family on Easter Weekend. On Friday I shopped at Pacific Mall with my sister, since none of my friends had time to go with me. The art store Curry's was the only store there that was closed that day, much to my chagrin, so I couldn't get the supplies to make my mask with. On Saturday I worked, there weren't as many animals as I thought there would be, then hung out with Lynn and Marni at Second Cup in the evening. On Sunday, I had relatives from my mom's side of the family come over. My mom made lemon, garlic and rosemary turkey, which came out a bit sour and bitter because 1) My mom used garlic that had germinated and 2) she used too much lemon. On top of that, she didn't stuff the damn turkey, except for the heart or kidney (was too cooked to tell what it was) since she had forgotten to take it out before cooking it, which irritated me. Oh well, when I'm on my own, I can cook a way better turkey. I made chocolate covered strawberries with my cousins and gave one to my 4 year old cousin, who stuffed the whole thing in her mouth, leaves and all, then asked for another.

Summer's coming up soon, but I sure as hell won't be idle. I've picked 2 summer courses to do, both of which have 3 hour lab components on top of 2 hour lectures, meaning I have to spent 5 hours on Tuesdays and Thursdays at the campus at a time when I really don't feel like working there. Plant and Vertebrate histology, yay. On top of work and the convention and other things that I think I'll have more fun doing (like visiting Cuba), this just isn't something I really wanna do, but have to. That damn prof finally e-mailed me back, said he didn't have anything for me. Frustrating, but at this point all I can do is work on other plans, while sometimes pestering him.

I've also got the fall schedule planned out too, I hate going through this s**t every year of going online to pick my courses in June. The whole stress of going online early in the morning, praying you get a good time so you can get into the courses you badly need, is more crap that I just don't need to put up with. On top of that, there's some first year art courses that I want to take, but I'm worried I may not get in to, since the spaces are limited (you can do stuff in the art studio) and 1st year students are allowed first pick, which I think sucks. At other campuses, senior students get first pick.

At any rate, I have an alternate plan of more bio and stat courses that I can do if I can't get into the art classes, which won't be as fun, but I think would still help me in the long run. This is my final year (technically), so I expect to finish my undergrad soon, probably the end of 2006 at the very latest. I know I won't get hired with just an undergrad, so currently, my number one choice seems to be Teacher's College. I don't know if I want to do graduate studies, I'd probably have to go back and upgrade if I did want to. At any rate, I think I could make a decent living as a high school science teacher, travelling and staying in different places for a few years as I teach.
