They stood in their school uniforms before this english class. Their uniforms had shorter kilted skirts on the girls, and long pants for the boys. Both uniforms had a white shirt, a blousy one for girls, and suit-like one for the boys. The boys had vests and then their jackets, the girls had bows that tied at the necks. They looked bored with them, and sat with hunched backs, or laid back in their seats. Rather uncouth compared to the schools of japan. The teacher spoke in english, but thanks to the spell cast by Jaken, Kiya could understand. Kiya and kurama were set to this homeroom, Yusuke and keiko to another, and kuwabara and Botan to the last.
"Class, these are the transfer students. Kiya, and Shuichi Mimamino."
Many of the girls were smiling and batting their eyelashes at Kurama.
Kiya was too excited to notice the batting of eyelashes toward Kurama at the moment. She was just happy to be in another country, and able to understand the language without taking any crash courses. "H-hi." she waved toward the students when she was introduced, her Japanese accent clear when she spoke.
No one seemed to care, There were two girls in the back, one with bright red hair, her uniform skirt pulled up a bit to show leg, and her blouse open to show some clevage. The other girl had her uniform worn pristinley, her long wavy brown hair and bright green eyes gave her a very earthen look. The one with green eyes stared right into Kiya's eyes... something about her was unnerving.
Kiya's gaze caught the one of the girl with the earthen look. Kiya began to get nervous. She subconsciouly took a small step behind Kurama and lightly grabbed his hand, something she now often did when she was nervous and around him. When she did that, she felt several glares on her.
The classes were very different, schedual wise and class wise. The social status was very, very different. Grades did not determine one's popularity... appearance did. If you were not up to their standard you were 'ugly' and a pariah.
For girls, had to be tall, thin, with large breasts. A symmetrical face, clear skin and blonde hair; blue eyes were prefferred.
For biys your hair had to be short, spiked, and frosted blonde with one ear peirced, the left ear, never the right.
In the case of Kurama, he was admired anyway. But god forbid a girl have red hair, the cruel word for them was 'firecrotch'. Among these pariahs were four girls in particular.
Anna St.George had long brown hair that was straitened every day. Her bright green eyes held a dark secret. She coated her eyes on dark make-up and painted her lips black. She wore heavy combat boots rather than the uniform sneakers, and painted her nails the color of night.
Candice Smith had firey red hair and amber eyes that spoke of a wild nature. She was a real knock-out, but she dressed rather slutty and was rumored around the school to be 'easy' and unclassy.
Ranita Shira was the closest thing to what was trendy among these girls. Tall, thin, blonde hair and stormy grey eyes, she could be one of the popular girls. Though she refused, always sticking by Candice and following her everywhere. people called her a 'tool' and a 'clinger' and was said to be very annoying.
Lesly Fischer had frizzy black hair and bright blue eyes hidden behind thick glasses. Her nose was always in a book, and she was the best target for bullies, bursting into tears easily and hiding in the bathroom.
These girls hung out together whenever they could, and when all together, were not mocked to their faces.
"I heard some weird stuff about them." Yusuke said to the others in japanese in case someone overheard. "Everyone says they're satanists."
"Really? Thtat's kind of creepy." Kuwabara commented his unsubtle gaze on them, it obvious that they spoke of them.
"Oh come come, I'm sure they aren't satanists, we probably have to get to know them better, that's all." Botan spoke, her violet eyes on them for a moment and then back to Yusuke and Kuwabara.
At the moment, Kiya was not listening. Her head was resting on the table and her eyes were closed. "THey called me a nerd. No one will talk to me!" she mumbled to herself. Poor girl was short, and medium size she had brown hair and brown eyes, she was not necessarily out of the ordinary.
"and don't look now, but those skanky broads are hitting on your boyfriend." Yusuke added, sure enough some bleached blonde girls were surrounding Kurama and giggling loudly.
and don't look now, but those skanky broads are hitting on your boyfriend." Yusuke added, sure enough some bleached blonde girls were surrounding Kurama and giggling loudly.
Kiya's head perked up and she frowned. She glared, yes she actually glared, at the girls surrounding Kurama. She quickly stood and went his side for a moment," Shuichi, we found you a spot over here."
"Oh there you are!" he said with a smile. "I'll see you later!" he said to the girls before grabbing Kiya's arm and dragging her back to the table. Then it was clear... he really, really didn't like them. The four girls seemed to be staring... not at Kurama, but at Kiya.
The next day, the group skipped class for a metting about the mission.
"Those four freaks really give me the heebie-jeebies." Kuwabara said. "Their Auras are... different somehow, I'm sure they are the ones Koenma was talking about."
"It could very well be them... Koenma did say four figures were a cause of the disturbance." Botan agreed.
"I don't think so." Yusuke said. "They're weird, but not spirit world weird."
The next day, Yusuke approached Bitan and Kiya.
"Have you guys seen keiko?" he asked.
"No sorry." Botan told him.
"I have, I was just coming to get you girls." Kuwabara said. "Some girl said something to Keiko and she ran into the bathroom crying."
"What did she say?" Kurama asked appearing as well. Kuwabara repeated what he heard and Kurama put a hand over his mouth in shock. "Why? What does it mean?"
"Hey c***k, open your eyes." Kurama said.
"What's a c***k?" Kuwabara asked.
"It's a racist term used originally for the chinese, developed as an insult for the chinese who worked on the Canadian Pacific railway..." Kurama said.
"But... we're not chinese." Kuwabara said confused.
"It hardly matters..." Kurama told him.
"Oh poor keiko, come on Kiya we have to find her!" Botan said taking her hand.
"On the second floor, by the science hallway." Kuwabara told them.
Kiya frowned at the insult that they had spoken to Keiko. Kiya wasn't necessarily all Asian, she was a mix, but she really didn't know of what. All she knew was that she didn't have the dark hair that eveyone in Japan. She quickly followed Botan to the restroom.
They went inside, but there were voices speaking. Keiko's sobs and broken speech could be heard. Were they... they were speaking japanese with her? When they stepped around the corner, there were two girls. The black haired nerd, and the tall skinny one were leaning against the door looking in. The other two girls were inside the stall with Keiko.
"They're just jeleous because you don't need plastic surgury as bad as they do." One said... the green eyed girl. "They are ugly inside and out, you are the opposite."
"I-I just... I just w-wanna go home. I hate it here." Keiko said between sobs.
"We all hate it here dollface." said a voice, the slutty one. "But the best way to get back at them is stick around, don't let em' scare you off."
"Treat them like the scum beneath your shoes, like they are. Ignore them, if they speak to you, roll your eyes and keep walking. They crave attention, and if they don't get it they get flustered and can't do anything." Said the green eyed one.
Botan sneezed and four faces looked to her, like she was a lion who stepped on a twig and they were antelope. But these antelope were much more intimidating than the lion.
Kiya jumped slightly and nervously smiled when she came out from the corner. "H-hello...Keiko?" Kiya called out, scooting over to the stall despite the gazes of the intimidating antelope," A-are y-you okay?"
Kiya didn't necessarily agree with their method of treating the others. Even if someone was mean to one, shouldn't one give them a chance?
Keiko wiped her eyes with a black cotton cloth... probably from the green eyed one who's heavy make-up would probably hide among the ink.
"I-I'm fine." she said. "I think, I just... need a little longer in here. Please, tell Mr. Saltekevich I'll be late to class."
"You take all the time you need sweetie." The slutty looking one told her.
Kiya paused for a moment. She didn't want to leave Keiko with these girls. Something seemed off about them, she couldn't necessarily put her finger on what it was though.
"Botan, could you go tell him? I'm going to stay here with Keiko." Kiya requested taking a step closer toward the girl.
Botan seemed hesitant... but she nodded and left. Her first thought was to inform Yusuke of Keiko's status.
"I gotta talk to her." he insisted.
"Yusuke, you can't go into the girls bathroom!" Botan insisted.
"She's right... here, you could be arrested for that. They don't see it as simple mischeif." Kurama told him.
---
Keiko finished crying, the whole time the slutty looking girl held her hand, and the one with the green eyes stroker her hair. After about 15 minutes, she was okay again. They all walked her to class. %The four of them got detention, but not Kiya or Keiko.
The whole time she had been in the restroom with the four other girls, Kiya was nervous, but she had tried to comfort her friend anyway, to the best of her ability anyway.
Yusuke was glad to see Keiko alright.
"So whose face am I pounding in?" he asked.
"Yusuke, don't worry about it." Keiko told him. "Listen, I won't be coming back to the boarding house tonight, I'm staying the night with my new friends."
"New friends?" Yusuke asked. "Who?"
"Hey Keiki-cakes, you comin' or what?" A voice called. The slutty girl waved from a few meters away, her and her three friends.
"Them? Are you kidding!?" Yusuke asked.
"Oh Yusuke, you hardly know them." Keiko told him scoldingly.
"But-" Yusuke began to protest but Keiko cut him off.
"Yusuke please... just leave them alone." she said. Then she walked off to join the four freaks.
Kurama's sleeve and frowned. "K-kurama, w-we can't let her do that. I get a really weird feeling around them." she began to whisper toward her," I don't want her hanging out with them."
"Neither do I... but what can we do?" Kurama asked. Almost instantly, Yusuke answered.
"We're following them!" Yusuke said. "Botan, go to spirit world and do some digging, see if you can come up with anything on those four."
"Right!" Botan replied. She pulled the oar out and flew off.
Kiya gulped and then watched Yusuke. "W-what? T-that isn't p-polite." she stated her eyes worried.
They ended up trying to, but they vanished.
"You know who would be useful now?" Yusuke said. "Hiei... isn't he supposed to be hanging around and keeping an eye out? Or three?"
Kiya blinked. "Oh! The short tempered vertically challenged koorime?" Kiya repeated. She could feel an angry glare on her but she couldn't tell where it came from.
"That's him." Kurama said sencing Hie's energy slip out when he got angry.
"Hey Hiei, c'mon buddy don't hide on us." Yusuke said outloud sensing him as well.
Hiei was now right behind Kiya, his red eyes on her. She nervously laughed and took a step behind Kurama. "O-oh hey Hiei." she nervously greeted him.
He remained quiet and continued to glare at her. "Anyway, you rang?"
"We think we found what spirit world sent us here to find." Kurama said. "Four girls... Keiko is with them."
"Can you follow them and make sure she's okay?" Yusuke asked. "I tried to follow, but it's like they vanished."
Hiei quietly watched them and his eyes were curious. What in the world were they doing to the girl? Quietly, he watched. He'd get involved once it got violent, or if one of them pulled the sharp knife on Keiko.
They set everything up in a circle, four items to each girl behind them, Keiko in the center. The blonde raised a hand and a jar of soil lifted off the ground. Like telikinesis. It floated around forming a circle on the outside. They spoke in english, so Hiei could not understand. They poured wine into one goblet and passed it around, each girl would speak and then take a sip. They they handed it to Keiko, who was made to drink the rest. Each girl placed her left hand on top of Keiko's head, reciting some kind of poem before the next girl put her hand on top. Keiko said something, again in English and they removed their hands sitting down again. Then the redheaded Carmine brandished her knife... it glinted in the sunlight. She stabbed it into the ground before Keiko, who then pulled it out. The girls began laughing and clapping, Keiko smiled.
It was then a strange light began circling around Keiko. It vanished, but now Keiko had a strange aura about her. Not human, and not demon.
The girls had taken Keiko to a walking path by the river. No one ever went near there, except to drink and pass out. They found a place hidden from the path and closer to the water and sat down together.
"We're going to do a binding ceremony of our People." Carmine (the slutty one) said. "So we always know what your feeling, that way we can find and help you if you want or need it."
"That sounds... interesting." Keiko replied with a weak smile. Carmine snapped her fingers and Magnolia (the blonde one) produced a dufflebag. They opened it up and pulled out several odd things. Four strange branches wrapped in wool and tied with crystals. Four decorative knives, only one sharpened. Four strange goblets, and four discs of stone with stars carved into them. They also produced a large black book.
"If you do not wish to go through with this, speak now." Said Jedda (the green eyed one).
"We won't force you." added Breena (the one with the glasses).
It was Jedda's eyes that went up to the tree's and right to Hiei, but she said nothing, simply giving him a blank look before returning her gaze to the others. As if to say 'you may watch, but do not get involved'.
Hiei watched the whole thing and when it was finished, he took off once he detected her new aura. When he reached the group, he told them of what happened.
"What the hell is that supposed to do!?" Yusuke demanded. "Turn her into one of them!?"
"Yusuke calm down." Kurama told him. "Don't panic, maybe it was nothing, until you notice a change in Keiko then relax."
"I can't just do that!" Yusuke exclaimed.
"You're going to have to... I'll do some research on our little quartet and see what I can uncover." Kurama told him. "Stay out of trouble for now, okay?"
Yusuke made no promises.
Hiei and Kiya stood there quietly. While Hiei was there, Kiya still stood behind Kurama and thought, Hiei had a smirk on his face while he stood there, knowing that he terrified the girl.
Keiko did change, over the next few days if anyone so much as turned to talk to her, there was one of the freaks. Often the green eyed one who's intimidation tactics seemed much more effective. Keiko walked with a spring in her step, and relaxed quite a bit more. She even greeted Yusuke with a kiss on the cheek, which he didn't mind, but it left him wondering what happened to the shy Keiko.
Kiya watched Keiko over the next few days. She didn't seem like the usual Keiko and the fact that those freaks had her back also creeped her out.
Yusuke was going nuts, no matter what he tried to say, she wouldn't listen to him. One day, the four girls and Keiko approached Kiya.
"You like smoores?" Carmine asked Kiya.
Kiya blinked when they approached her. "S-smoores?" she repeated, and looked at her hands," N-not really, they make my hands all gooey, but they taste weird to me..."
"Then maybe some honey-cakes." The blonde said.
"Keep friday open, we're doing a slumber party." Carmine told her. "Pack a sleeping bag, we'll be under the stars."
"O-oh I-I don't like those-" Kiya stopped speaking and looked to Carmine, and nodded slightly nodded," I'll see if I can, I-I think me and S-shuichi were going o-out that night."
She lied about that part, not knowing whether or not she should go.
"Great, see you then." Carmine said, she seemed sure that Kiya would make it.
Kiya slowly nodded and smiled toward them," Okay then." When they were gone, she caught up with Kurama in the hallways and asked his opinion. She left Yusuke out of this onebecause she knew he'd want her to go to that slumber party.
"I dunno..." Kurama said. "I can't say I trust them. But if Keiko is going, you should go just to keep her safe."
Yusuke called Hiei again.
"Follow Kiya, I want to know where they taek her on friday okay?" He asked. "If you do, I'll talk to botan about knocking some time off your 'community service'."
Hiei looked at the detective and nodded. He followed Kiya without her knowing.
The girls first went to a lower-class house downtown to gather some things. Once inside it was clear, with kids running about, none the same nationalities, that this was a foster home.
"Maggie, your turn." Carmine said. Maggie nodded and ran upstairs, returning with four dufflebags.
"Ever been camping Kiya-kat?" Carmine asked.
Kiya blinked. "C-camping? Yes, a very very long time ago." Kiya replied toward them.
"Good, that's what we're doing." Carmine told her. Again, the green eyed girl 'jet' as they called her, was staring at Kiya, but looked away if her eyes glanced back. "O-okay then." Kiya agreed looking at the girl and then back to the ground. She really wanted to actually be going out with Kurama tonight, but she was willing to take this chance to find out more about the girls.
((Squeeeeee! It's kwi!))
Little did they know they were being followed. Botan gave them special spirit world amulets that changed them into animals. Hiei was a raven with blue-black feathers, Yusuke was a Falcon. Kuwabara took the form of a red-tailed hawk, and Kurama the shape of a hummingbird. Thanks to the amulets, they could communicate through thought.
Where the hell are they going?! Yusuke asked. What kinda freak would have a slumber party in the middle of a forest by a river?
"Just a bit further." Carmine told Kiya as they hiked through the woods. Finally when the sound of rishing water could be heard the trees parted. They seemed to have found a patch by the river. It was a not-so-steep walk down to the banks of the river, but there was alot of room there to camp out. Breena and Jet set up a lean-to, in case it rained. But the main idea was to stargaze all night. Carmine dug into the dirt a bit, and set rocks around it before making a teepee of wood and lighting a fire. She used no matches, and the fire took a pink color.
"Wow." Keiko whispered.
"This fire won't burn anything around us, it will only cook what we want it to." Carmine told her. "It's called Brigid's blaze."
"T-there are no portapotties?" Kiya asked, looking around. When she saw the fire's color, she blinked and bit her lip. It was somewhat eerie," So how come Botan wasn't invited?"
"I asked her, she said she had to work." Carmine said with a shrug. "I think she doesn't like us... no worries, she's not the only one."
"Botan is um... very important at her job." Keiko explained. "I'm sure she has nothing against any of you."
They set up their sleeping bags... there were no bears around, but Jet tied their food up into the tree anyway.
Yusuke sat on a branch, and Kurama was buzzing nearbye in the flowers keeping an eye on Kiya who was sitting much too close to Maggie for his comfort to relax.
Kiya looked around at the outside. It was getting dark and she nodded in reply to their answer. She looked over to Maggie who was sitting too close for her own comfort also. "Yes?" Kiya replied looking at the girl.
"Shh..." Maggie told her. "Don't move." Then she raised her hand and flicked off a large wolf spider that had been crawling up Kiyas back. Once it was gone she relaxed, sitting only a little ways away.
They cooked hotdogs, the buns were home-made. They also had sunchips and a coffin shaped cooler full of ice and soda bottles.
"Jet wasn't to specify no one litters!" Carmine announced. "All trash goes in the bag okay?"
Jet it seemed, didn't talk at all. As they cooked their hotdogs using sticks they actually seemed somewhat normal. The four boys remained at their posts, then the girls began to talk.
"So keiko, that Yusuke guy, he is your boyfriend isn't he?" Carmine asked. Keiko's face went red and she shyly looked at the ground. Carmine, Breena and Maggie all laughed, their cackles rang in the night air. Jet's expression did not change, she just looked into the brush... staring at the raven that was not native to this patch of woods.
"What about you Kiya? You and that redhead seem pretty serious." Maggie asked.
Kiya's face went red when they asked about the red head. She nodded slightly, a sheepish grin on her face.
"I-I think we're boyfriend and girlfriend. He's never officially asked me, but we've kissed on several occassions, and he's told me that he loved me as well...he's actually the only family, well close thing to family I have." Kiya admitted slowly, her eyes on the ground, and that sheepish smile on her face," H-he's wonderful."
"Have you had sex yet?" Carmine asked.
"I think that's a bit personal to ask someone you hardly know." Jet said speaking at last looking away from the Raven at last.
"Well that's why she's here, to get to know her better isn't it?" Carmine asked. Jet shrugged, not wanting to argue it seemed.
Just girly crap so far.... Yusuke said to the others. In truth, Kurama was glad to hear kiya's opinion about what they had, and felt a little flutter in his heart when she said she thought so.
Kiya's face turned pink afterward, and her stomach felt weird at the question. "N-no, we've not. I-I'm a believer in abstinence, he knows that, and truthfully an event that happened a year ago scared me out of it." Kiya admitted, the incident with her teacher being the one she spoke of," Besides...call me o-old fashioned, but I think it's better to wait."
Hiei simply stared back at the girl. Ugh Kurama, you are boring. he thought to the red head who was a hummingbird. Kuwabara was taking delight in the fact that he was the awesome hawk, he spreading his wings every once in awhile to admire them.
"Event?" Carmine asked raising an eyebrow. Maggie and Breena also looked to Kiya wanting to hear the details.
"Carm, I really think you should start off with some less personal questions." Jet told her.
"Like what? Favorite color? Favorite animal? Come on jet, have some fun for once." Carmine told her. She looked back at Kiya. "Tell us!"
Kiya froze for a moment and her eyes looked down. She really hadn't told anyone else about it, but she had opened her mouth, so she now needed to say something.
"A-about a y-year again, I went to l-live with a private tudor...I l-lived with him for a year, and after a y-year, he tried to umm..." the brown haired girl grew silent for a moment and gulped," T-take advantage of me. L-luckily, h-he wasn't able to. K-kurama and some friends had come to surprise visit me, a-and he caught the man just b-before he could take o-off the remainder of m-my clothes. He pryed the m-man o-off of me, and beat him up."
Kiya of course changed the story around, she couldn't very well tell that the tudor was a teacher of summon spirits, and that she had to be married to him.
Hiei glanced to the hummingbird, he knew about it, but he didn't know if Kuwabara and Yusuke knew.
Kuwabara, the idiot that he was, was still amazed by his wings.
Wait... what? Yusuke asked looking at Kurama. The hummingbird ignored him.
"Was he cute?" Carmine asked.
"Carm!" Jet snapped. "That's enough!"
"Ugh... Fine." Carmine said. "We'll just have to get to the fun stuff."
Maggie produced a box from her bag. Inside were six bowls, and a smaller box, along with markers. Carmine filled the bowls with water from the river, and opened the smaller box.
"Write the letters of the alphabet on 26 of these little cardboard tiles." Carmine said to everyone. "Then put them facedown in the water... whatever turns up in the monring is the initials of the man you'll marry."
"That's stupid." Jet said. "I'm not doing it."
"Suck the fun out of everything why don't you?" Carmine said to her with a laugh. The others had no problem doing it. Jet stood up.
"I'm going for a walk." she said.
"Okay then." Carmine replied.
Should we follow her? Yusuke asked watching Jet walk off. He was as hesitant about leaving Keiko as Kurama was hesitant about leaving Kiya.
Kiya looked at the bowls and then to Jet as she stood. It wasn't that she wasn't curious about who she was going to marry, but she decided that the buddy system might be good for a trip like this. "J-jet, may I come with you?" Kiya stood and hopped over to the girl.
Wha? Kuwabara asked, not knowing what was going on. Hiei rolled his eyes and screeched at the hawk. You dingbat. Yes, we are going to follow them. Detective, if you are so concerned about the girl, you and the stupid one-
HEY! Kuwabara interrupted. Hiei ignored him, Anyway, the fox and I will got with his girl.
Good plan. Yusuke told them. Kurama fluttered close to Kiya, but not enough for her to notice him.
"Yeah sure." Jet half muttered to Kiya as they walked. She led her into the forest, heading north, and once far enough away turned and spoke to Kiya.
"I'm sorry... about Carmine." she said. Hiei flew up into the sky, his wings and feather blending in with the night sky. He kept Kurama in view and the girl as he did.
Kiya shrugged slightly, her usual smile on her pale face. "O-oh? I-it's fine." Kiya replied to Carmine," Hehe, I don't mind sharing that stuff since I've no one to share it with apart from S-shuichi. So it's okay. It's not exactly something you hear everyday." Yusuke! Check out my wings! See them, I'd hate to be a rodent in the general vicinity. Kuwabara spoke, his eyes on the girls.
Dude, shut up. Yusuke snapped at him. Carmine, Maggie and Bree were talking to Keiko, whispering at a close distance. Hawks and falcons had great vision, but not so great hearing. Yusuke was dying inside, unable to hear what they were saying.
"These days she's just... well, she's always been- a little hard to control." Jet told Kiya. "She's not so mature, and values fun over life sometimes."
This was more than Jet had said since kiya arrived... why was she telling her all this?
Kurama was in the tree, hopping from branch to branch nervously watching them. He wasn't sure what he was so nervous about... but he couldn't help it.
Kuwabara snorted toward the detective and suggest, Why don't you just get on a closer branch?
Kiya nodded slightly. "I-I understand, but I-I guess that's her own way of fun. Everyone's different at expressing their feelings, I guess that's her way of doing it." Kiya spoke her eyes on the girl.
Calm down fox. Hiei thought toward him.
Jet looked arout to say something else, but maggie appeared.
"Come on." she said. They went back to camp, Carmine had a duffle bag with her.
"We're gonna get back to our roots." Carmine told them all.
Kiya blinked, waiting for the reply an then jumped when Maggied appeared out of nowhere. Kiya followed them back, and Hiei followed them back, her landing where someone wouldn't be able to spot him.
The four birds follwoed the girls until they came to a creek. It made a small fall over the stone drop into a pool, it looked like a lagoon. Carmine tapped the water and it let off steam... she heated it?
Except for jet, the other witches began to undress.
Are they bathing? Kurama asked.
I think so. Yusuke said. Sweet.
Kiya took a step back and shook her head. She wa not about to undress in front of five other girls.
"I-I think I'll just sit here." Kiya said, sitting on the rock, her hands in her lap.
Hiei's eyes looked up but after every few moments, his eyes would wander back to the girl, so he turned himself around and made it look like he was preening.
Hehe... Kuwabara thought, his laugh sounding like a perverted old mans.
The cattails hid them, too bad for Yusuke and Kuwabara. Keiko loosened up and got in with them.
"Oh wow, this is great!" she said. "Come on Kiya, it's hot and everything!" Jet sat down on the rocks... then looked up to the Raven. She glared.
Kurama was grateful Kiya did not wanrt to get dressed... not that he didn't want to see... he really didn't want the others to see her.
Hiei snorted toward the girl and flew up higher into one of ther taller trees.
Kiya looked to the girls and shook her head. "N-no I-I'm good." she once again replied. Her back was toward the girls, and her eyes were closed. In order to go in, she'd have to be thrown in.
The others bathed, Jet and Kiya did not. When finished, they went back to the campsite.
"You two need a boost of confidence you know." Carmine told them. "Lighten up a little."
After smoores they put out the fire and went to sleep... Sleep called to kurama as well, but he didn't dare close his eyes, in case they planned something for Kiya during the night.
Before Kiya fell asleep, she decided to go to the water after everyone left. When she was finished, since she didn't like smores, she went to sleep.
Hiei watched as Kurama watched his girl and he flew over to the hummingbird's side. Fox, you need rest. I'll watch her. he said to the hummingbird.
Kuwabara was asleep, and for a bird, he began snoring.
No, I'm fine. Kurama insisted. A shape appeared in the tree.... a ginger cat!
It seems we do indeed have visitors. Carmines voice said. A black cat with blue eyes, a blonde cat with grey eyes, and a brown cat with green eyes also appeareed, surrounding Hiei and Kurama.
Hiei screeched at them to perhaps frighten them. Kuwabara woke up at Hiei's screech and was about to start squawkin' at him, but spotted the four cats.
The ginger cat swiped at Hiei.
Let's teach them a lesson my sisters! The cat cat giving a mew of laughter. But the brown one moved in.
Carm don't. Jet's voice could be heard.
Why not? The pervs were spying on us! and they use magic to cower and hide! Carmines voice could be heard.
Yeah, a good clawing of their wings should take care of that. Maggie said. Claws in, Jet pushed hiei off the branch, to force him to fly off, same with Kurama. That gave them the chance they needed to get away.
Kiya jumped up and was awaken at the squawking of the birds. She sleepily rubbed her eyes and watched the raven bird fly up, a falcon by his side now. She noticed the other four were gone and she saw the four cats in the trees. Kiya sneezed. The poor girl was highly allergic to cats.
"H-hey! Leave the birds alone!" Kiya commanded toward the cats, she sneezing once more.
The cats vanished and the girls appeared.
"Did you see them!?" Carmine asked Kiya. "Did you see the cats?"
"I think they left though." Carmine said. "Damn."
So they went back to bed, lucky for Yusuke and the others, they didn't know who they were.
At school on Monday, Keiko almost looked like one of them.
Kiya recognized the change in Keiko and frowned. That was slightly weird. Kiya's eyes were puffy and her nose was runny. Some cat hair had gotten on her sleeve, and she accidentally rubbed her eye with that sleeve so she was suffering the consequences.
"Nya, why does she look so much like them?" Kiya asked, and then blew into a kleenex.
"Beats me." Kuwabara answered.
"I dunno... I'm gonna talk to her." Yusuke said. He walked over to Keiko and tapped her shoulder, but when she ignored him he grabbed her wrist and pulled her away.
"I told you so." Jet said to carmine.
"Oh come on-" Carmine began but Jet shook her head and walked off on her own. Carmine moved to follow, but Bree shook her head. They went to class.
"G-good luck." Kiya replied and sneezed. She blew into a kleenex," Kurama mind if I skip today? I've a huge headache and I feel like I can barely stand."
"Not at all, I'll walk to back to Mr. Sinclairs." Kurama told her. Mr. Robert Sinclair was the man hosting them as students until the exchange was over. He was a nice man whose goal in life was to travel the world... unfortunatly, that was an adventure he lived through his children. When he worked as a cop, he lost his leg when he took a bullut for the drug addict he was meant to take in. He was taken from the service and given a statue in the park. His retirement money however was triple what he expected, and now recieved checks each month.
Outside, Jet had stormed to the tree's, unaware of hiei's presence above. She sat down and sighed, trying to meditate.
((sorry I'm gonna have a drama moment in the rpx3))
Hiei awoke from his wonderful nap when he felt a presence. He looked below and frowned, her seeing a girl at the bottom of a tree. Not just any tree, his tree. He snorted and crossed his arms. He recognized the girl from last night. "Could you do that elsewhere?" he requested looking at the girl, his blood red eyes not pleased," This is my tree."
"N-no K-kurama, I-I wouldn't want you to be late for class." Kiya softly smiled and took a step from him," I'll just walk to his office-" she paused and sneezed into her kleenex," and then r-report that I-I'm sick and then g-go back to the boarding house, okay?"
She would have kissed him on the cheek as usual, but just in case she had something more than allergies, she blew him a kiss.
Now walking down the hallway, on the way to Mr. Sinclaire's office, she walked by several guys and girls, she accidentally bumping into the prettiest one in the group.
"S-sorry!" Kiya got up and apologized to them in English, her eyes closed.
"Watch it, Jap." the girl growled," Just because you're not back home you can act all tough?"
"N-no t-that i-isn't what I meant-" Kiya quickly sneezed into her tissue again and heard the as the girl went on, she stepping closer and closer to Kiya, making the brown haired girl back into the lockers," Well we've got news for you. We've got our eyes on you sneaky Japs. Some of us still don't appreciate what you and your people did in the Forties."
Kiya blinked, and remembered the Great War. She frowned," I'm to be blamed for a war my people, not me, were in?"
"Exactly. Plus we don't like that you're so close to that deliscious red head." one of the other girls spoke up. Kiya looked at them all, an apologetic look on her face and her eyes closed," S-so? H-he's my-" she tried to speak but was interrupted, by one of the guys this time," Boyfriend? He and my buddy have poor taste then. You are plain."
Another boy got really close to Kiya, like right up against her, his arms wrapping around her. "I dunno, I don't think she's all that bad. Hey how would you like to party with me?" the boy offered, his hands wandering her body.
"N-no t-t-thank y-you." Kiya replied trying to push the guy off of her, knowing that if she dared smack him that they would all gang up on her.
"You shouldn't be here." Jet said without opened her eyes. The tree moved, it's branches wrapped around Hiei, pinning his arms to his sides. Like some kind of Dryad, the tree lowered Hiei to dangle before the girl. She opened her eyes and looked at him.
"My sisters did not appretiate giving you a peep show the other night, don't you and your friends have anything better to do?"
---
"Oh Benjamin, of course you would have to rely on such a thing to get laid." A voice said. Carmine, Maggie and Bree had appeared. Carmine, spoke.
"Piss off skank." The boy holding Kiya said. Carmine shook her head.
"I would, but you might get off on something like that." she said. She acted so innocent, but there was a fire in her eyes that was rather intimidating. "You should be careful, karma is a b***h who is always on the rag."
"What are you-" the pretty one said flipping her hair back, but when she pulled her hair forward, a big hairy spider skittled over her hand. She shreiked... soon everyone was screaming as spiders, hundreds and hundreds of spiders were crawling all over them. There were no spiders on Kiya, but when one skittered across the hand of 'benjamin', he freaked out and got away from her trying to brush them off. Kurama appeared and grabbed Kiya by the wrist, dragging her off.
"Release me." Hiei demanded, her glaring the girl down. If she had known better, she would have known that they hadn't been there for the peep show, but to look after Yusuke and Kurama's humans.
~~~~~~~~~
Kiya stood there, her eyes there the whole time. When she heard the screaming, she pryed an eye open to see the spiders and she bit her lip. When it was all over, she felt her wrist grabbed and she was dragged off.
"S-sorry I-I got myself into trouble again." Kiya apologized toward Kurama, and then sneezed.
Some of the guys looked back at Kiya, Kurama saw them out of the corner of his eye, and to proove a point, pulled Kiya in and pressed his mouth to hers. The kiss was passionate, and a show of dominance. The three witches saw and walked off looking self-satisfied.
"Stop following me, and don't even think about following my sisters again, understood?" Jet demanded of Hiei. The branches tightened to illustrate her point. "I let you go unharmed once, if I have to again, you won't be getting away without a serious maiming."
Kiya blushed at his kiss and stood there, her hands in his as he did. Her heart was pounding like crazy. She opened her eyes to see the guys all frowning. So that was what the kiss was about. She shook off the thought, still enjoying being kissed by her redhead.
Hiei snorted in reply to the woman as the branches tightened. His tree had turned against him. All he had ever done was love that- back to the point. His cold glare was on her.
The others left and Kurama let her go.
"Sorry." He told her with a slight blush. "I just... I mean... I hate those guys." He didn't want to openly admit he was jeleous and got possessive, but he must not have seen them feeling her up. If he had, he probably would have took out the rose-whip.
---
"Well? Say it. Say 'I'll leave you and your sisters alone', if not, this spirit will snap your spine like a twig." she told him. Something in those harsh green eyes was something that didn't quite fit... a sort of hesitance. Like her words and actions didn't belong to her, or she didn't do this sort of thing normally.
Kiya's face was pink and she had a smile on her face. "I-it's okay, Kurama. I didn't mind it." she admitted, her sheepish grin on her face, she looking down at the ground and then back up to him.
~~~~
Hiei simply remained there, his gaze on her. He noticed the hesitancy in her voice and raised an eyebrow. "Really?" he questioned her.
"Come, I'll walk you to your next class." he said with a smile.
---
The tree tightened it's grip, but then loosened enough for him to breathe. As if just realizing it was hurting him.
"Yes, really." she said. "Say it and you can go unharmed, or, at leats until you bother me again."
"O-okay." she replied although she had been on her way to Mr. Sinclaire's office. She didn't mind though as long as she got to be with Kurama a little longer.
~~~~~~~
"Fine." was all he said, he attempting to reach for his katana so he could chop the tree.
((Mr. Sinclair, the one who's kids went to japan in place of Kurama and Kiya on exchange, not a teacher))
So Kurama walked her back to class, and then went to his.
---
"Fine." she replied. As she turned to walk away the tree returned to the rose it was originally in, placing Hiei back on the branch he sat in before. She was gone.
---
After school, Kurama was on his way to pick up Kiya. He was rabbed by the hair and literally shoved into a locker, the thugs who did it shut and locked the combination lock.
"Hey! What do you think your doing!?" Kurama snapped. The thugs ran off to Where Kiya would be getting out of class.
Hiei snorted toward the girl once more and hopped out of the tree. It had betrayed and therefore was no longer worthy of being his tree any longer. ~~~~~~~~~~~
The bell rang and Kiya shot out of her classroom. She stood outside of the classroom, and walked off to her locker. She was totally oblivious to the students around her, all she knew was that she wanted to get to her locker where Kurama met her after every few classes. As she waited, she played with the wooden ring on her left finger that Kurama had given her.
Someone grabbed Kiya's wrist, and the other and she was dragged out the nearest doors and around the corner into the alley. The dropped her on the ground, two of the boys held her shoulders down. The one named 'Benjamin' loomed over her.
"What's the matter? I'm not good enough for you? is that it? You'd rather screw that f*****t than me huh?" he said to her.
Kiya felt herself being dragged elsewhere and when she was dropped on the ground and held down she got a sick feeling in her stomach like the time she had when Hidoi had done the same, almost.
"Y-yes. I-I mean, h-he i-isn't g-gay." she replied as best she could, she being nervous and beginning to shake slightly. She tried getting out of the grip of the two boys without force. Kiya had the ability to break their arms thanks to the training she underwent, but rarely ever thought of using her skills for harm or self-defense.
Kurama pounded his fists from the inside until the door came loose. Jet stood there, the open lock in her hand.
"They took her out back." she told him. He didnd't even have time to thank her, he tore off.
---
"Oh? Guess i'll have to change that won't I?" he said with a smile.
"Do it Ben!" Said one of the ones who were not holding Kiya down. He produced a video camera and put the lens on her. Ben knelt down, and laid on top of her, his hands going to her shirt. There was a cry and a scream. One of the boys fell to the ground clutching his shattered nose. Blood was everywhere.
Kurama had arrived, his beautiful green eyes shimmered with rage... a demon fog snarled from within their reflection of that anger.
Kiya opened her eyes to see Kurama who had just broken the guy's nose. She looked at him as best she could from where she was.
"B-ben, I-I'd s-stop i-if I were you, a-and I-I'd run." Kiya tried to warn the boy, she looking from Kurama to him. She knew Kurama had a very good reason to be upset, but she did not want anyone being killed today, or any day. She saw her redhead's eyes and noticed the rage in them, truthfully it terrified her.
Kurama pulled Ben off of Kiya by the hair, his friends fled. Ben shook in fear, trying to get away as Kurama made a gass blade grow to sword size and sharpness.
"Stop!" Jet said appearing from around the corner. "You spill his blood, and you'll be no better than he is!"
Kurama stopped and looked at her, but another figure appeared.
"What are you waiting for? Teach the pig a lesson! Do a number on his face!" Carmine insisted. They both approached Kurama, like the shoulder sprites they argued over what he should do. He stopped them by speaking.
"Take Kiya away, she doesn't need to see this." He said. Carmine smiled and helped Kiya to her feet, dragging her off. Jet stayed behind.
"You can't." she told him.
"I can." Kurama said. Ben looked like he just emptied his bowels.
"You shouldn't..." Jet told Kurama. He was tempted... so tempted, it was like Having Hidoi's throat exposed before him. But he dropped the punk and put the grass down. Jet raised her hand and spoke a strange old english word. Ben passed out.
"He'll forget all of this, so will his buddies." she said. "You made the right choice." Then she turned and walked off.
---
Carmine releaced Kiya in the courtyard of the school.
"Sheesh, what is with my Jeddah these days? All work and no play, she doesn't even wanna be one of the girls anymore." Carmine said when the other two girls showed up.
"He hates being rejected, no worries." Carmine told Kiya. "I turned him down from having sex two years ago, and he started a rumor around the school that we did it, and I was bad, and all that bull-crap you hear today."
Jet appeared again, she put something in Kiya's hands. A black thread, tied to it was a crystal of some kind. It was sharpened to a point.
"Onyx... for protection." she told her. Then the witches left.
-------------------
They ended up talking to Koenma through Botan.
"We know who they are... they have Keiko under a spell." Yusuke told him. "They seem to effect people here too, their evils are coming out. Kiya just about got raped, and Kuwabara was nearly stabbed."
"I'm assigning each of you to watch one of them." Koenma said through the glass Botan held. "Yusuke, take Carmine, she seems to be the leader. Kurama, take Bree. Kuwabara, keep watch over Maggie, and Hiei you handle Jeddah." So they did as ordered to. One night, Botan and Kiya snuck into the section of the library that was locked.
"Find their names, are you good at reading english?" Botan asked Kiya.
---
That same night, Jet went down to the river again. This time alone, and sat among the tree's. She carried a strange bag with her.
"Y-yes. I'll try to find their names." Kiya replied and went around the library as quietly as she could. She had Shadow cloak her in matching darkness in case they were caught.
~~~~~~~~~
Hiei once again happened to be there, sleeping in a another tree. He was awoken by the sound of the intruder. When seeing that it was the girl he had to watch he almost threw a fit.
Botan looked through them.
Adams, Jeddah
Carmine, Hughes
"I found two of them!" Botan whispered. "Can you find walters and Mcphee?"
---
She produced from her bag a photo of the four of them. She tore it so the piece she now held was only of Maggie and Carmine. She spoke strange words in old english, wrapping a white ribbon around it. Then she tied it and put it in a glass bottle, sealing it with a cork. Then, she tossed it in the river and watch it. It bobbed up and down a bit before vanishing beneath the surface. She did not look at him, she didn't even look up. Did she for once, not know he was there?
"I-I can try." Kiya said and then finally found them,"Aha!"
~~~~~~~~~~~~
Hiei sat there watching her actions. He wondered what she was doing. It looked quite odd.
They gathered their records and looked through them with a flashlight.
Kiya glanced through them quietly, she finding othing out of the ordinary.
"Look at this!" Botan said. She pulled out four yearbooks and opened them to the senoir year pictures. Each one had the same four girls in them, in the same place, all smiling at the camera.
Kiya looked at the book and blinked. "Weird." she muttered, observing the picture more closely.
Botan kept looking into each one... finally, after 20 books, they stopped appaearing.
"They've been in the senior class for 20 years!" Botan exclaimed.
Kiya blinked. "O-oh w-wow. W-what do you think i-it is?" Kiya asked looking from Botan to the book.
"This must have something to do with the power they have." Botan said worried. "I'm going back to spirit world to look around."
"O-okay what do I-i do?" Kiya asked.
"Stay close to the others, I'll be back as soon as I can." she told her. She led her back to Mr. Sinclairs house before leaving.
Meanwhile, jet had fallen asleep under the tree.
"O-okay." Kiya replied.
Hiei continued to keep watch of the girl. She didn't seem that harmless in her sleep, but then again neither did a lion.
Kurama was waiting for her.
"What took you so long? i was worried!" he told her.
---
As she slept, something slithered through the bushes. A snake... a very, very, very big snake. It had spots, the kind that showed fangs dripping with venom.
He took her by the hand and gave her a kiss on the cheek.
"Come, let's get inside." he told her. "It's going to rain soon."
---
Jet awoke the the sound of a slice, when the head of the snake fell at her feet she shreiked and stood.
"What the hell is your problem!?" She demanded of him.
Kiya blushed and walked with him inside. "I-I like the rain." she mumbled with a smile on her face.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~
"It was coming to bite you, what the hell did you want me to do?!" Hiei sanpped at the girl.
"Then let's stand out back, in the garden, and watch." Kurama said to her with a charming smile.
---
She was about to say something more, but the snake dissolved into violet flame. Jet stared at it, and when she looked on the verge of tears, turned from him and started walking away.
"Then let's stand out back, in the garden, and watch." Kurama said to her with a charming smile.
---
She was about to say something more, but the snake dissolved into violet flame. Jet stared at it, and when she looked on the verge of tears, turned from him and started walking away.
Kiya nodded that blush still on her face when she saw his smile.
~~~~
Hiei simply stared at the girl and had no idea what had happened. He would report this to the others when he got back.
They went outside among the flowers and sat underneath the patio. There was a flash of lightning and the rain began to fall.
---
"Well, well. Looks like we've found ourselves a nosy stray." said a voice. Carmine and the other witches had appeared. Despite their smiles, they didn't look like they were there on a friendly visit. "Bothering our sister were you?"
Kiya sat there underneath the patio with her head rested on Kurama's shoulder. "T-thank you f-for helpin' me out again Kurama." she said to him.
~~~~~~~~
Hiei stood there and snorted. "No. I was merely sleeping up in a tree. She happened to be there when I awakened." Hiei replied with a growl in his voice and his red eyes glaring at them.
"You don't need to thank me... It was my duty, I love you." he told her with a smile giving her a kiss lightly on the lips.
---
"Sure, sure." Carmine said. She raised a hand and shot a sphere of hot pink fire past his head.
"I-I love y-you too, Kurama." she smiled once they had parted from the kiss.
~~~~~~~
Hiei watched the flame and frowned. This was not good, not at all. He jumped to the side and kept his hand on hilt of the katana and waited.
He wrapped an arm around her and watched as the rain began to fall.
---
the three girls cackled and thunder sounded as the rain began to fall. Hot pink fire was thrown at Hiei, cerulean water whipped at him, and gails of wind threw him off his tree branches. He had no time to attack.
Kiya sat there quietly with him, she loving the smell of the rain. She paused for a moment. "K-kurama, H-hiei has been gone from the house for a-awhile, is he still out there?" she asked him.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Hiei attempted to block each move, but he failed. Too many attacks were coming at him at once, and because he was somewhat small, they pushed him back and threw off his timing. The cerulean water damaged him some and the hot pink fire burned him.
"I'm sure he's fine... He likes to wander." Kurama assured her, relaxing in such a way he was almost dozing with his head rested on hers.
---
The water and wind pulled up and formed a cage around him. If he tried to get out, he'd get badly hurt. Carmine smiled and approached, she reached in and used her knife to take off a small lock of his hair. Then she backed up.
"Have fun." she said. Then the water closed in, cutting off oxygen until everything went black.
The next day at school, Jet seemed to have seperated from her 'sisters'. Wherever they were, she was not.
Carmine had taken that lock of Hiei's hair, and braided it into hers. He would not be able to attack her, a spell had bonded them in her favor. But they said nothing so much as mean to the four, it was like this was a game to them.
Noticing that Jeddah was not wherever her 'sisters' were, Kiya frowned slightly. Was something wrong? She debated on whether or not to leave Kurama's side to ask what the matter was, or stay there. She had forgotten to tell him about the senior picture book thing, and that still creeped her out. She decided she would, letting go of the redhead's hand and walking after Jet.
"Hey Jet, wait up!" Kiya shouted after the girl.
Hiei woke up the next morning, it feeling like he had been hit by a truck. "Damn." he muttered, his hand on his rib.
"What do you want?" Jet asked Kiya... not coldly, but not warmly either.
Kiya remained quiet for a moment and smiled warmly in reply. "I-I just wnated to now if y-you wanted to hang out w-with me and S-shuichi, s-since it seems that y-you aren't with your f-friends at the moment." Kiya suggested, hoping she'd say yes.
"No." Jet told her before leaving.
Not 'not thank you', not 'sorry no', just 'no'. Not a cruel no, not a cold no...
Kurama approached Kiya.
"What was that about?" he asked.
Kiya's face saddened a bit at her answer.
When Kurama approached her she smiled slightly. "I-I just invited her to hang out with us for today s-since it seemed like she isn't with the o-other three." Kiya replied to the boy. She paused and looked at him," Oh! Did Botan tell you w-what we found?"
She looked around cautiously before she would go on. She lowered her voice," T-they've b-been Seniors here for t-the past twenty y-years."
"Hey guys!" Kuwabara exclaimed, causing Kiya jump slightly, and subconsciously hide behind Kurama.
"Hello Kuwabara." Kurama said giving a chuckle at Kiya's jumpiness.
"Hey! I was lookin' for you guys all day, have you seen Botan? She's not in class today." Kuwabara asked.
"O-oh she's in Spirit World." Kiya replied from behind Kurama, and coming out from behind him.
"Hey, I saw something weird. That Breena girl manipulates water, it turns this serious blue color and she can do weird things with it." Kuwabara said. "But when I talked to Botan before, she said there are no demons who can do that."
"Hey, I saw something weird. That Breena girl manipulates water, it turns this serious blue color and she can do weird things with it." Kuwabara said. "But when I talked to Botan before, she said there are no demons who can do that."
"M-maybe they're spirits?" Kiya suggested looking from Kuwabara to Kurama.
"Not good ones, that's for sure." Kuwabara said. Kurama looked around.
"Has anyone seen Hiei?" he asked.
Kuwabara shrugged. "I haven't een the pipsqueak all day." Kuwabara answered," Come to think, and I've been unab;e to feel his presence either."
"Well that's odd. Maybe we should look for him?" Kiya suggested.
"Good idea." Kurama said. "Let's split up."
---
Meanwhile Jet would have made her way back to her old spot, clutching a sharpened onyx amulet in her hand. She sat down under a tree.
"Okies." Kiya replied and went off in her own direction.
~~~
Hiei once again was nearby, but his time not up in a tree.
She looked around... hoping to spot him.
"Are you there?" she asked into the trees. Hiei heard the woman and frowned. He debated on whether or not to answer, but he slowly walked out, he still holding onto his side.
"What?" he answered coldly.
She jumped when he spoke, turning around quickly like a frightened rabbit.
Thank the stars, they didn't kill him. She thought.
"I brought you something." she told him, not get any closer.
"What is it?" he asked, staying where he was in cse the other three were nearby.
She tossed him the onyx amulet.
"Wear it around your neck, and no harm shall come to you." she told him. "You'll need it, the worst is yet to come." Hiei caught the stone with his free hand, and stared at it.
"What is going to happen?" Hiei asked the girl.
"I cannot tell you." she said sturned and started to leave. Hiei went after her, he keeping his distance," And why noy?"
"Hiei!" Kiya called out, passing Jet and pausing to look at the two. She was silent for a moment and saw his wound.
Jet took that chance to vanish among the tree's. Kurama arrived to, and his jaw dropped seeing Hiei.
"What happened to you!?" He asked.
For the rest of the week they waited, nothing happened, when friday night came, it seemed they were in the clear.
"Kiya!" Kurama exclaimed appearing. "Come with me, I have something to show you!" Kiya had been talking to someone in her class when Kurama called her name. She jumped grinned when she saw him, waved to the person, and went to his side.
"What is it?" she asked him.
"Come, this way." he insisted taking her wrist and leading her outside. He turned a corner and grabbed her, his arms holding under hers to keep her in place. There was an evil glint in his eye. Carmine appeared.
Kiya looked at Kurama, following him and wondering what in the world was going on. When looking into his emerald eyes something wasn't right. When Carmine appeared, Kiya looked to her, curiously.
"H-hello Carmine." she greeted her.
"Hello Kiya-chan." Carmine said, a burning sarcasm to her voice. Kurama changed back to Maggie, who held her there without a way of reaching her cards. "I hear you've been snooping around the school archives... can't have that." And before Kiya could ask 'how did you know?' Carmine snapped her fingers. Two human boys appeared, dragging a hardly consiouse Botan with them.
"B-botan!" Kiya called out to the girl she trying to struggle from Maggie's grasp. Kiya turned her eyes on Carmine,"What are you doing?!"
"Tying up some loose ends." Carmine said. "We've worked hard to make this curse easy on us, and you come along to screw it all up." Her eyes turned a vibrant fushia, which was rather frightening on her cruel face. She gave a hand gesture and the guards dragged Botan over beside Kiya, they all forced them to kneel and held them down.
Kiya looked up at Carmine the whole time, her gaze not moving. "What curse?" Kiya asked. "We started our coven 20 years ago... the moment we opened the spellbook we were frozen in time. Every year we must do a ceremony to ensure no one asks questions of our return to school each year. Until we break the curse, we need to get rid of little heathens like you who come much to close to unearthing our secrets." Carmine told her. She cupped her hand in the air, a hot pink flame erupted from her hand, like it was on fire. No... it was the fire. She held her hand out and sent a blast at Kiya!
But... it missed? The onyx grew hot, and a black barrier seemed to have formed around Kiya and Botan.
Kiya cringed for a moment when the flame came her way and she closed her eyes. She pyed open her eyes when the fire should have impacted but she nothing hit her. She looked at the onyx and sighed in relief for just a moment.
Carmine gave a shreik of anger.
"That amulet! That traitor jeddah gave it to her!" Carmine said. Breena bit her lip looking at her.
"I'll find her." she said quickly. "and take care of her."
"Go quickly then." Carmine ordered. Breena ran off. Maggie grabbed for the Onyx talisman, but pulled her hand back when it seemed to burn her.
Kiya looked around and wanted to go warn Jet, but there was no way of escaping, and she wasn't about to leave Botan here.
((sorry are the guys still holding onto them?))
((Yeah))
Carmine raised her hand again, but a rose whip slashed at her. She gave a shreik of pain and shock as Kurama arrived. Kuwabara drew his spirit sword, and Yusuke raised his hand for spirit gun. Maggie whistled and the two girls vanished in a gust of wind, leaving them alone.
((Sorry another quick question, the two girls that vanished, was it Carmine and Maggie or Kiya and Botan? Sorry I'm running on water at the moment><"" wink )
((sorry, Carmine and Maggie vanished, I should have specified))
Kurama rushed to Kiya's side.
"Are you hurt?" he asked.
"No, I don't think so, but Botan seems to be." Kiya replied with a worried expression on her pale face.
They dropped Botan off at Mr. Sinclairs house, they had to call Lena to help her while they went off to find the witches. But they barley made it outside when they found the one they seeked.
Bree and Jet were standing there. Jet held a box out to Yusuke.
"What is this?" he asked.
"Everything you'll need to take down Carmine and Maggie." Jet told him.
Kiya stood next to Kurama and looked at Jet. "W-why are you no longer with them?" Kiya asked her, she holding Kurama's hands at the moment.
Hiei was now with them, his onyx tied around his neck, he wearing it like a collar.
"Carmines power has grown too much, she's gone mad. I should have stopped her a long time ago, but I didn't. Bree and I are going to help you take her down, before she kills us all." Jet explained. Bree nodded, she seemed shy.
Hiei simply remained quiet and Kiya nodded. She looked to Yusuke waiting for him.
Jet gave them all customized amulets. Onyx for protection, jasper for power, and Cerulean for quick healing.
"Do your powers all coincide with the elements?" Kiya asked the obvious.
"Of course they do Dingbat." Hiei growled toward her, wondering why it was the fox still tolerated her.
"I am earth, Bree is water. Carmine is fire, and Maggie is air... which could cause problems." Jet explained.
"What kind of problems?" Yusuke asked.
"In a full coven four are needed. Water to drown fire, fire to burn air, air to erode earth, and earth to absorb water." She told him. "When that coven splits, their powers grow to hard to handle."
"Well then shouldn't we hurry to stop them instead of babbling?" Hiei frowned.
"Many things cannot be rushed... we must be prepared." Jet said. She held her hand out to him, as if giving him somthing, but her closed fist did not show it.
Hiei looked at her hand and then slowly put his hand on hers.
She gave him something then turned her back. Raven black hair, woven with red. The braid that Carmine made with his hair!
"It took much patience, and much trickery to pull of getting that." Jet told him. "You can burn it, or you can weave her hair into yours to make a protective charm against her power."
For two days Jet and Bree taught them the basics of magic, so they could defend themselves.
