His name is Felix Swift
Also known as Remus. It's a name kids called him when he was young, and the name he adopted when infiltrating Kimlasca. His nickname reflects a legends about Remus and Romulus, two brothers raised by wolves. The founded a great empire, and as they argued over who should have dominance over the new city, Romulus slew Remus, taking the city, Rome, for himself. Felix was called this mostly in in irony, as Remus was a great warrior while Felix was pretty much a wimp as a kid.
He is 41 years old
He was born in the City of Hod
He now lives in the city of Grand Chokmah
He works as a member of the military.
His title is 1st lieutenant, 3rd Malkuth Division, 8th Platoon of the Malkuth Imperial Forces
He grew up with his father Percival Swift, his mother Dindrane Aurius. His big brother was Artemis, and his little sister was Fenri.
He lives with his wife Valerie Kent, his son Sicel, and his daughter Tina.
Felix Swift grew up in the city of Hod. The family was not very rich, but it was a happy life. Felix enjoyed music immensely and learned a lot of theory from his mother. He has never played a musical instrument though. He is a devout follower of the score, as his mother has taught him. He was a shy kid, and other kids often picked on him. He lagged behind in schoolwork and found it hard to do anything when he knew his brother could easily do it better than him. Because everyone always paid more attention to his brother than to him, Felix grew distant from people. That problems persists today, in the form of him lacking the ability to see through other people's points of view. He understands that he needs to be nice and all that, but he lacks true empathy. Felix is a natural-born third fonist.
The Cathedral Accident was a terrible day for the swift Family. Percival and Artemis were away on a mission as usual. There was a meeting at the church to discuss how to help the hungry of Hod to survive the coming winter. Felix, who was 10 at the time, took his sister to a side chapel to get away from the boring adult talk.
Outside, a young fonist had stolen some forbidden texts from the library, and attempted a fonic arte from the book. The resulting explosion killed him, destroyed the street, set several houses on fire, and collapsed the Cathedral. Felix was trapped beneath a large slab of stone that was held up by a fallen column, preventing him from getting squashed. His right leg was caught under the heavy stone though, and was injured badly. His little sister Fenri was hurt severely, and died before rescuers could get them all out. Their mother, Dindrane, died from her wounds later at the Hospital.
Felix was trapped under the rubble for several hours, and has developed claustrophobia since then. After he was dug out and sent to the hospital, he lost the use of his leg.
The family moved to Belkend, because of its advanced medical knowledge (and because the Score said so). A healer there managed to save Felix's leg. While the nerves were destroyed to a point his could not use them anymore, at least it did not have to be amputated. They spent two years in Belkend, where Felix slowly recovered. Because of this event, the the family could not afford the money to send both him and Artemis to school. Because of this, Felix never completed an education.
Even though Felix showed great promise in control over Fonic Artes, even the seventh fonon, he shirked away from the field after this incident. Thus, he was never properly trained in the Fonic Artes. He is particularly good with Arcane Wind Artes today. Despite his injuries, he train the best he could under his father, to learn the sword.
Moving to Grand Chokmah was a choice that Percival made when it seemed Felix was in stable condition (and also because the Score sdaid so). Artemis decided to stay behind, and so Percival and Felix moved by themselves. At the capital, Percival took a job as a castle guard.
Felix attempted to get back into school, but quit when he found it too hard to keep up. He often helps out at the local church, as he is used to. Many other people avoid him, because of his mangled leg. But one girl made friends with him, and that girl was Valerie Kent. Valerie convinced her mother, who ran a hospital in the capital, to help design something to allow Felix to walk again. She came up with the Fonic Crutch, which was two beads of fonon-conducting glass dangled from a string. It allowed Felix to take the weight off of his leg and onto the beads. Not only that, the beads allowed him to control his legs again, almost like external nerves.
Felix joined the military then, and married Valeries two years later.
The Hod War was brewing when Felix was sent on an infiltration mission into Kimlasca. He was a member of the Intelligence Division, and their mission was purely to collect information. This was three years before the Hod War broke out.
Felix took the alias of Remus Akair during those three years. He and a squad of five blended into the Kimlasca Royal Forces in the capital of Baticul. When the Hod War broke out, Felix and his squad were reassigned to guarding Sheridan by Kimlasca. It is the production site of Warships, so Malkuth will likely attack it.
It was during this time that Hod fell. Felix and his team were sent news of it, and told that Duke Fabre was responsible. The Intel mission now turned into one of assassination- kill the Duke, and King Ingobert as well if they can. The grouped planned the assassination for many months. One evening, during a chance encounter, Felix bumped into Artemis. Artemis recognized Felix when he introduced himself as Remus, and tipped the Kimlasca Royal forces off. Felix and his squad were captured and imprisoned in Baticul.
They went on trial, and the case was difficult to resolve. As the squad was sent by their country, they are protected under the laws of war, and Malkuth is suppose to take responsibility for their actions. But on the other hand, they have legal documents that makes them Kimlascan citizens, and they lived there long enough to obtain a citizenship even though the documents were false. If they are to be considered Kimlascan citizens, they can be sentenced for treason and conspiracy. Kimlasca would have every right to imprison and/or execute them.
Kimlasca managed to sentence two of the squad to death through exploiting details of the laws. (One had directly tried to attack Duke Fabre outside of the orders of the squad, while the other took most of the blame to spare his comrades.) The other three were imprisoned five months past the end of the war. While they weren't mistreated directly, conditions were poor, and one of them died of pneumonia through the winter. Felix's fonic crutch was also destroyed by one of the guards, and his leg caused him a lot of pain during that time. His claustrophobia didn't help.
When Malkuth finally managed to rescue Felix and the other soldier through more legal battles, Felix has developed Cleisiophobia, a fear of being locked in. Both of them had to be treated for Post Traumatic Stress Disorder. One of the men executed was a close friend of Felix's, and after that, Felix has been dead against capital punishment.
Felix's lack of his Special capacity Core led Malkuth to believe that Kimlasca had mistreated him, which was against the Laws of War signed at the Daath Convention. Felix had to fake a recovery in order to avoid suspicion. Valerie's mother helped with the deception by giving him graudally stronger Fonic Crutches.
His ordeal made him reconsider many things in his life. First and foremost, Felix realized that he wanted to be a father before he died. He and Valerie decided to have kids, and their son Sicel was born a year later. Five years later they had a daughter, Tina.
Felix was reassigned to the 3rd division, and was promoted to Lieutenant. His main job is to patrol Theor forest with his platoon to control monster populations near Grand Chokmah. His platoon was also responsible for Emergency response during disasters.
Percival Swift was one of the last of the rangers. The rangers were an ancient organization of people, who dedicated their lives to nature and protecting it. They specialized in the two-handed fighting style and excellent marksmanship with a bow. It was said that the Rangers were taught by one of Yulia's 10 disciples, the last of the legendary elves. Rangers were well known as warriors. They often protected the weak from monsters and bandits.
More recently, they have been dying out. Because of the secluded nature of a ranger's work and life, more rangers die than new ones train to fill their place. New rangers veer away from old customs and traditions though, and in the last decade, rangers were simply monster-exterminators for hire. Because of their change in roles, a ranger's training now consists of being able to handle almost every type of weapon out there.
While there is still a few rangers alive out there today, the order of the rangers is considered dead, as none of the current rangers are able to find any apprentices.
Percival was a skilled swordsman, and knew how to use all weapon types. He was an accomplished third fonist as well.
Percival met Dindrane when he was rushed to the church with injuries. She worked as a hymist there, and the two fell in love. They married a year later, and had three kids. Percival often left their home in Hod to work on requests for eliminating monsters. He was part of the party responsible to locking the Behemoth in the marshland with Rafflessia flowers.
Percival died a few years ago of a plague that hit the capital of Malkuth.
Dindrane Aurius was orphaned at a young age and struggled to survive by herself on the street by performing on a flute. A member of the Church of Lorelei took her in, and found her to possess the fon slots necessary to use the seventh fonons without consequence. They taught her to use simply hymns, and she worked there as a hymist ever since. She is a very devoted follower of the score, and imprinted this onto her husband and kids. She died in the Cathedral accident.
Artemis Swift is the eldest of Percival's kids. He had great talent with a sword, did well at school, and has amazing control over the 3rd fonon. When he was old enough, Percival often took Artemis with him on his trips to exterminate monsters. He was a prodigy child, and was good in every subject he attempted. Because of this, his younger brother Felix grew up in his shadows.
After the Cathedral accident, the entire family moved to Belkend. While there, Artemis found that he enjoyed fontech immensely, and decided to stay to finish an education in fontech. When Felix and Percival moved to the capital of Malkuth, Artemis stayed behind. After he finished his education, he moved to Sheridan and joined the Albiore team. He fell in love with a girl named Emily Galen, and they married.
They had two kids, Noelle and Ginji. When an earlier version of the Albiore collapsed while it was being built, Emily was killed in the accident.
After what happens in the Hod war Artemis has tried to contact Felix numerous times when he finds out his brother survived his ordeal. Felix has refused communication from him though, and Artemis eventually gave up. Artemis does not feel any guilt for what he did, although it pained him of the actions he had to take.
Recently, a scorer told him that he was what was called a "Cysa Aggregate" which explained his amazing control over the 3rd fonon. His fonon frequency was a perfect match of Sylph's.
Fenri Swift was Percival's youngest kid, and only daughter. She stuck with Felix often and was what people would call a sweet little girl. She'd often be seen helping out at the Church with her mother and Felix.
Fenri was only eight years old when the Cathedral accident took her life.
Valerie Kent grew up in grand Chokmah. Her mother ran a hospital, and Valerie followed in her footprints. Both of them were seventh fonists.
When she was thirteen, she met Felix, who had collapsed in the middle of a street. Some boys had stolen his crutches, and Felix was literally forced to crawl home. Nobody else seemed to pay him any mind. Valerie came to his aid, and helped him home. She tried to contact the police about it, but Felix convinced her otherwise. He didn't want to get other people involved. Valerie knew that this was standard behaviour of the bullied, but Felix was firm about it. The two soon became good friends.
Valerie learned about Felix's condition more and was determined to help him overcome it. Felix was shy and distant from people, and Valerie believed his disability was the cause of it. She helped her mother developed the Fonic crutch, and that changed Felix' life drastically. Felix and Valerie married several years later. Valerie decided to dedicate her life to helping those with disabilities, and opened up the special capacity core shop, of products similar to the fonic crutch. She invented the system of programming Capacity Cores into doing very specific jobs by using fonon frequencies.
The military has attempted to get their hands on her technology, but she refuses to allow her capacity cores to be used as weapons.
Valerie also paints on commision. Emperor Peony is particularly fond of her art.
Sicel Swift is Felix and Valerie's son, 14 years of age. He is blind due to a mutation of the fon slots in his eyes. His pupils never developed. It's a rare condition when both parents have strong natural abilities to control fonons.
Sicel is often by himself, and is quiet. He isn't shy though, and will defend himself in any subject. He loves his younger sister Tina deeply, and despises his father, for he thinks Felix doesn't care for them.
He is a strong natural fonist, veering off the family norm of the third fonon to a proficiency with the sixth fonon, an irony as he can not see. He isn't limited to the sixth fonon though, and has great control over all six. He only lacks the special fon clots necessary to safely handle the seventh fonon.
He see using a special capacity core from his mother's work. On a necklace dangles a pearl mounted in silver. It is tuned to his frequency, and is also programmed to take in fonons from around it in an organized fashion. By reading how the fonons are absorbed by this necklace, Sicel is able to 'see" around him. It is very difficult to handle, and he is the only one who has mastered its use.
His capacity core is one of the ones the military wants to get their hands on the most, as it allowed 360 degrees vision and can also go around walls. Someone skilled like Sicel can even tell what materials everything is made out of, and can recognize people by frequency.
Tina Swift is Felix and Valerie's daughter, only 10 years old. She is a seventh fonist.
Tina loves music, and plays in the local band as a pianist. She wants to be a musician when she grows up. Both of her parents pressures her to become a Scorist though, and use her ability with the seventh fonons. Both of her parents have lived through hard economic times, and wishes their daughter a life with acces to more money and opportunities.
Tina loves her big brother Sicel. She is also very close to both her parents, but will seek Felix out for help more than Valerie if she can.
