Random stuff
Well, I seem to be using this as an actual journal now, shock horror. Entries will be made whenever I can be bothered :P
I think it's probably about time I made a new entry.

So... depressing stuff out of the way first. My Babcia (grandma) had a heart-attack saturday morning. She's okay, but apparently she has blockages in five places and has to have a bypass. I'm not sure, but I think she's having it today.
Mum was upset, of course, and wanted to rush up there today (Babcia lives in Queensland, we live in Melbourne, Victoria, so we don't see her much) but it's Dad's birthday this week, and she was torn between going now or staying for Dad's birthday and going later. I told her that he wouldn't mind - he's not THAT selfish - but it was still worrying her, until she rang up a couple of her sisters and they worked out that two of her sisters would go now, for about a week, and then Mum and another of her sisters will go up next week and care for Babcia while she is recovering. So now Mum has peace of mind, to a degree.

Some of this might seem a bit strange to you - it probably wouldn't make sense unless you knew my family.

I went to Grandma's birthday party yesterday - 90 and still going strong. It was okay, not as agonising as I (and my parents - again, something that you really need to know my family to understand) had expected. Granted, I spent most of the time in a allyway behind the house playing cricket with my cousins and their kids, so I wasn't really exposed to... everything, but still.
And then, of course, we had the cake, and the electronic keyboard thing was brought out and Grandma played a few songs - she has an incredible gift for playing by ear - and we all sang along, those of us who knew the words anyway.
And then Grandma took a break, and someone discovered the songbank, and... more singing.
My family is strange.

This is fun, writing in a journal. I hadn't expected it to be.

Gaia stuff... jsk has taken to visiting us in 1919, which is cool. He said it's because he had so much fun playing a ufo and getting to know us, that he wanted to get more active with the users. It's interesting because he's probably talked to most of us, but we don't know that he has, or what we've said to him, or how close we were to him when he was in his ufo form. I know one of the ones that he played, but I'm not sure about the other(s?).
He's told us a lot of stuff that probably verges on leaking, although I don't think he's crossed the line, and I hope he doesn't - he said Fleep was in trouble, he couldn't tell us what for but we're assuming it had something to do with leaking.
I thnk he compares himself to Fleep a bit, especially with user popularity. He shouldn't, because they are two different people, each good in his own way. He said that more devs should be like Fleep; I hope he meant in regards to user interaction, 'cause Fleep's cool but it would be annoying if all of the other devs were just like him.
I feel sorry for him (jsk) because every time he comes to Towns, he's swamped with questions about the plot and BS, while as a ufo he was probably part of more... interesting?...discussions and activities, at least for him. Hopefully when we're more comfortable around him we can have something like that going. You could even see the beginnings of it last night.

Other Gaia stuff ~

I've spent so much time on Gaia recently that I'm PMing emailing my history lecturer and keep wanting to use smilies. Eveything sounds so serious and boring when you're not using smilies, especially when you're talking formally.

Oh, someone had a topic in the GCD last night about their favourite smilies and what kinds you'd like to see, so I had a go at making some. I'll upload the better ones later.

Mum says that if I pass all of my subjects and do well this semester (yeah, that's going to be difficult, I'm doing humanities rolleyes ) she'll help me to get a visa card. Which will be good, because then I can all give my money to the nice people who run this site.
-isn't brainwashed, no way @D@;;-
Well, not all of it. Probably roughly $50 a month, which according to my calculations should get me about 17 sealeds. Stupid rate of exchange.
This shall be my avatar after a few months of happy visaishness:

Wtf?! More purple. Purple certainly isn't one of my favourite colours, but it just looks so... GOOD on Gaia. Weird. And my normal avatar looks so tacky beside that one crying

Money is good. With the money I get from working I should eventually have:
1. My new computer
2. The internet bills all paid by me (well, the bills for the internet being on in my room, anyway, Mum was talking about getting an extension or it put on somewhere else in the house or something)
3. My visa card and the wonderful MCs I can get with it
4. New tv in my room, because the one I have is at least 20 years old and I can't play my Gamecube on it (and future gaming systems :B)
5. A DS. Which I shall purchase when Pokemon Diamond and Pearl come out. 'Cause I'm a Pokemon fan.
Please don't judge me.
6. Games and crap. And possibly clothing.

(I Previewed this, and "A DS" looks like the "I" has fallen off xD)

See what Gaia has done for me? I'm questing for IRL items now. Scary.

I almost have enough money for my computer (well, I think I do have enough, but I'm waiting until the easter holidays before I get it) and once I have it I'll start paying the internet bills. Which is another reason I want the visa card, by the way.
My eventual aim is to have everything in my room that my parents can currently kick me off whenever they feel like it, belonging to me. So I can watch my tv and mess around on the computer at the same time and not have to worry about the sort of mood Dad is in.
I know all of this seems greedy (I want THIS and THIS and THIS) but it's partially because I've never actually had money to spend before, and partially to sort of challange my parents' authority over me. Also, the visa card thing is good motivation for me to do well, which I will. And when I do well it will show my parents that I'm not a complete idiot, which seems to basically be their impression of me.

Anyway, that's it for now, I have to go finish my history homework. After lunch.
I'll make another entry whenever I feel like it, which probably won't be for a while.
