CHAPTER 11
THE VILLAGE IN THE MOUNTAINS
THE VILLAGE IN THE MOUNTAINS
It has been a few hours since the storm and Shadow's and Silver's battle with the shadow creature. So the group decided to head back to the mountains and try climbing up them before dark. Hoping to find a village to stop by for awhile. Once they got to the mountain, Shadow said, "looks dry enough to climb now, donch'ya think?" "Ya," agreed Crystal and Pearl. Silver and Rain didn't hear Shadow, for they were whispering about something. Shadow decided to eavesdrop this time. "Well lets head up then," she said, as everyone moved forward. As they did, Shadow slipped behind Silver and Rain within hearing range, but not noticable. Crystal and Pearl noticed what she was up to, and went along with it. They talked about some random subjects, every once in awhile looking back to see if Silver and Jolt still didn't notice Shadow. "Dude... you should really ask ya know.." whispered Jolt. "Well... I... um..." stuttered Silver. "What are they talking about exactly, ask who, what?" thought Shadow keeping her distance. "It's not like theres any harm... whats the worst that could happen?" asked Jolt. "I don't know... maybe... I dunno...." whispered Silver looking confused and frustrated. "Hey guys! look up ahead!" called Crystal who was a ways ahead of Silver, Jolt, and Shadow. Silver and Jolt immediatly looked up to see what Crystal was pointing too, as did Shadow. Up ahead was a village. "Guess I'm not gonna find out much more today..." thought Shadow, as she stealthily made her way back to Crystal and Pearl without Silver or Jolt's notice.
As they approached the village, Shadow had a bad feeling about it. "Hey guys," she said in a whisper." Haven't you noticed that there's no noise or anything?" "Now that you mention it, no, it's dead quite," said Silver. Crystal and Pearl then exchanged worried glances, and Pearl clung onto Rain's arm. "I'm still heading up there ofs course," said Shadow with a smirk, "but if you guys are too chicken..." "I'm not chicken!" yelled Pearl. "Niether am I," said Rain. Shadow looked to Crystal, "of course I'm still going," she said. Then Shadow looked to Silver. He looked a little uneasy, "you going?" ashe asked. Silver thought about it for a second, "ya sure, what could go wrong?" he said with a smile. "Cool, alright guys, let's go!" said Shadow turning back to the path, leading the group. Once they were inside the village they all stood there, shocked. It was completely disserted. Buildings falling apart, nothing but weeds grew, and stale air was all there was. At this point, it was already evening, so the sun gave the village an eerie light. It looked like something from a horror movie now. Pearl clung harder to Rain's arm, her eyes wide with fear. Crystal moved closer to Pearl. Shadow and Silver, however, moved forward with no fear.
