I return home and collapse into bed. I snuggle into Marchosias's arms. I turn toward him and wrap my arms around him and hug him tightly to me as i drift off to sleep.


I wake in the night. The dread decends on me before i can even open my eyes.

70 years have passed.

My coven, every last member, has gone up in flames.

Almost all supernaturals In new Orleans have passed.

We cant' survive in this new era.

Only the old, and insane ones remain, which essentialy are one in the same these days.

I remain.

I sit up and the questions and accusations start hiting my mind as they have for the past decade.

Why?
Why do you go on?
What's the point?
They are all gone.
You are alone.
You don't understand this era.
You can't even find a youngling to teach you.
You are weak.
You should give up.
Why do you even try?
Why do you think that some miracle will happen?
Why do you think they may come back?
They don't love you anymore.
They hate you.
They are dead.
You destroyed yourself, and them.
You ruined everything.

And it goes on and on and on.
I snarl at myself and get up out of my bed.

Do it.
You know you want to.
If you do you will see them again.
They will forgive you.
They still love you.
Join them.
Die...

I shake my head once, more like a twitch.

"Why do I bother?!" I scream.
My brain screams back at me.

DIE...

"NO" i whimper. I crumple to the floor quivering.
NO...

n...

yes...

I crawl foward slowly.

Yes.

I stand and walk into the hall.

YES.

I enter the den and stare at the unlit pyre.

"YES!" I scream.


I take out the old gun at my side. I aim and pull the trigger.
A tongue of flame comes out of the barrel and dies quickly.
I growl in agony.

My mind starts screaming at me again.

BEFORE YOU LOSE YOUR NERVE!!!!!!

I crumple to the floor again. I crawl slowly toward the pyre. I crawly to the to and dig into it and arrange the limbs of the trees around me.

Trembling, I try to stop the screaming in my head and think only of flame.

Devour
Consume
Destroy
Blaze
Incinerate
Scorch
Sear

"BURN" I screech.

I scream and wail as the flames leap up around me. I raise my hands and begin to laugh as they turn to cinders. I laugh and scream.

I'm sucked down into the heat and darkness.

A gasp escapes as I realize what I've done.

I try to get up.

I can't see.

Open your eyes.

I look down and see ash and fire. There is a body writhing. I look closely and groan.

I begin to cry.

I feel a hand on my shoulder.

I turn and look up to see who it is.

I see a blaze of light before me.

I am blinded. I blink and the figure comes into focus.

"Jean." i whisper.

"Yes my love. It is time. Come." he says into my mind.

I burst into tears and he fold me in his arms.

"Come. Let's go." He murmers in my ear.

"yes." i mumble

We are sucked into a vortex. We start spiraling faster and faster.

I feel as though i will explode. We stop. I open my eyes, my eye,lids flutter in the brightness a few seconds and then, I pass out, finally at peace.
