- Shading CAN be tricky but here are a few pointers. You only need to use a few pencil strokes to mark the paper. and then only a few accurate swipes of a finger to shade correctly. But most of all I recommend that you try to practice on geographic shapes like cubes and spheres before you try it on people just so you can get the gist of how light affects objects... hope this helped. and nice art!
