The old man fell asleep; the boy lay awake, listening to the wind and the snow against the door. But at last, he too fell asleep.
He awakened to a showering of snow and he saw a woman in the room -a woman all in white. She was bending above the old man, blowing her breath upon him; her breath was like white smoke. She turned to the boy, and stooped over him...
