Description:
The son of the Cretan Bull and Pasiphaë, wife of King Minos'. The Minotaur was named Asterion and nursed though infancy by Pasiphaë. But as he grew he became ferocious; being the unnatural offspring of man and beast. He had no natural source of nourishment and thus devoured man for sustenance.
After getting advice from the Oracle at Delphi, King Minos had Daedalus construct a gigantic labyrinth to hold the Minotaur. The Minotaur was eventually killed by hero Theseus in this labyrinth. - Date: 08/19/2010
