In Silent Hill 2 you take on the role of the troubled James Sunderland. He came to Silent Hill after recieving a letter from his DECEASED wife of three years, Mary Shepherd-Sunderland. The game opens with James in the bathroom of a Observation Deck looking over Toluca Lake. in the scene he touches his face and begins to recount about getting the letter and proceeds to read it.
