Actually, quetzalcoatl is supposed to be the "white bearded god." And the Aztecs though that Hernando Cortez was quetzlcoatl, that's why they sucumbed to him so easily. It turns out, the orignal quezalcoatl was probably a viking that was exploring the new world long before Columbus and Cortez.
I just learned about it in my western civ class.
