• Artist Info: Berekan was once a diplomat of the strongest nation of his time. He was a simple salesman, selling leathered goods in markets across the area. He also relentlessly trained day and night to become a strong conquerer, while building his reputation within his country. He preferred only to use his two swords he owned. One was a thick, heavy "warmonger's sword", and the other was a slim katana. His ultimate goal was to become the Marshal of his country.

Since he was a trader and a warrior, he decided it would be best if he did not raise a family or become intwined in any relationship. He took everything seriously though and was a headstrong perfectionist. His childhood friends disappeared from his life one by one as he focused intensively on the task at hand.

One day, however, a overwhelming raid of saboteurs within the country was put into his responsibility to silence. The force he gathered was small in comparison to the number of protesters in arms. He decided to use a strategic plan unheard of to the rest of group. The tactic, however, failed. His militia was defeated, and he was forced to retreat back to the safety and protection of the country's stronghold capital. Half of the land was left in ruin and ash.

With his reputation shattered and the entire country against him, he was sentenced to be executed. However, after much debate and plea, he received a lesser, but still harsh, punishment. The next morning, he was exiled and left to survive on his own. He retreated to the peaks of the nearby dormant volcano, Mount Volkar, as his only home left in the world. He took with him his two weapons of choice, a separate set of clothing, a water canister, and a blood-soaked tabard of the country he once represented.

That night, as he was sleeping with hunger in a cave located along the base of the mountain, the dormant volcano suddenly exploded and released a storm of molten rock. He was protected by the cavern, but after the sudden calamity, the inner walls of the cave crumbled away. Berekan awoke to find a pathway to the inner reaches of the volcano.

He reached the inner sanctum to find a small isle surrounded by a tremendous mass of magma. After hours of inactivity, hunger, and thirst, he dove into the molten rock as a form of suicide. The suicide, however, did not work. Instead, he became more alive and, later to be known to him, immortal. His hunger left him. His thirst diminished. all that was left of him was charred bone incased within a shell of the molten matter.

Flames emitted from his head, eyes, and back. His newly-crafted form released the intensity and heat of the core of the Earth. Finding that we would no longer die, although still shocked from the encounter, he took hold of his two swords. He forged and engraved both within the fires of the cavern. The "warmonger's sword" was unaffected and easily held an eternal fire. The katana, however, melted completely at the upper half and parts of the lower blade. Although it held a lasting fire like the other sword, the katana was left as a shorter and jagged weapon.

After being satisfied with the results, he returned to his makeshift camp inside the outer area of the cave. He found that his tabard and a cloak, both of which were in his separate pile of clothing, would not burn or melt due to a special compound of substances in both of them. He equipped both and returned to the inner part of the mountain. Instead of returning to an empty cavern, he returned to find a small, demon-like creature out on the isle. It didn't seem to mind the heat. Berekan tamed the creature to be a minion of his. It grew to resist fire and become bloodthirsty.

It is in the remains of Mount Volkar where Berekan now resides with Harxeva, the demon he tamed. His past is of no importance to him any longer, yet he still feels the burn and agony of his torment. He silently waits with his minion, waiting for the perfect moment to take action with his new plan. He waits for the moment when he can take the world for his own.
