• Foreword.

The dark, dreary laboratory was cold and appeared deserted that night, except for a large, human-like shadow that was only barely visible due to a small, neon blue glow emitted by a large cylindrical test tube in the corner of the room. It was easy to see that inside the test tube, curled into a tight ball, was what appeared to be a human fetus, floating about gently in the middle of the thick, blue goo. "You spend waaaay too much time in here, Thabian." A young, excitable, masculine voice alerted the human shadow, causing it to turn around slowly and reveal a young woman in her late thirties.

She had pale skin and dark brown hair that reached down to her shoulders, and a thin yet fit build. She stared at the intruder with her deep red eyes that seemed as though they were piercing through his skull. "You know as well as I the reason for that Karrell." A small grin played about her lips, revealing rather sharp fangs.

The young man took a small step into the glow, he appeared to be around the same age as Thabian, but had large muscles, long black hair past his shoulders, and dark skin. As usual, he was only wearing a pair of black jeans, to show off his abs, in Thabian's opinion.

"This one your daughter?" He turned to face the test tube, Thabian's gaze following his as she nodded. All the noise in the room had alerted the sleeping fetus and it uncurled itself slowly, appearing to yawn as it stretched out. Its pale, cat-like ears twitched gently on top of its head as its bony, hairless tail uncurled from its body.

"She's so cute!" He breathed heavily on the glass as he spoke, leaving a small fog upon it. "Will be even cuter when she grows her fur..." Karrell grinned slyly and tapped on the glass gently, causing the creature inside to pause its stretching and turn to Karrell, staring at him with her deep purple, curious eyes. "Whatcha gonna call her?"

He turned back to Thabian, who had grown a frown and appeared to be in deep thought as always. "Melanee" she replied quietly, not turning her gaze off the curious infant, who was clenching and unclenching her hands while staring at them. Karrell also frowned and turned back to the test tube, his tone of voice growing a lot more serious. "What are you going to do with her?"
    "I don't know..."

    Chapter One.

Several years had passed and Melanee was now sixteen years old. Her fur had grown in quickly and covered her entire body, thick and pure white, except for on the back of her left ear, which had a small, black Celtic pattern grown in with the fur. She was five”10' And well endowed and shapely, yet still rather slim and highly attractive by human standards. Melanee was in the long, well lit hall way playing handball with a half-lizard male who was two times her hight, and extremely bulky.

“Come on Melanee! You can do better then this!” The male roared at her quietly when she went to hit the ball with her fluffy tail and missed dramatically. “Something must be on your mind.” And indeed it was. Melanee was distracted by her memory of a few years back, when she was walking past the laboratory and heard her parents talking.

“Come on Thabian...You have to cage her up like the others, your getting too attached!” her father had yelled, loud enough for the guards to hear, but they didn't seem to notice, to Melanee's surprise. “How can you just say that? She is your daughter too Karrell...” Her mother replied, far more quietly.

Her calm tone had made Karrell lower his, and Melanee had to press her ear against the dark oak door to hear his reply. “Yes I know...But they will come for her....Eventually....” Melanee was not able to listen any further as the guards had noticed her presence and dragged her back to her dully lit blue room and locked the stainless steel door as punishment for eavesdropping, this left her nothing to do but ponder about the previous conversation.

Melanee was pulled out of her daydream by a hard knock to the side from her lizard friend's thick and scaly green tail. “Wake up Mel, the guards want you.” He gestured towards another even larger lizard man, with black scales and a modified Steyr with plasma rounds in the grasp of his large claws. His expression was not pretty. “Miss Melanee...Your parents wish to see you....the time has come..”

Melanee was soon sitting at a large round oak table with her parents nervously, wondering what the guard had meant by her time coming. The room in which they were in was well lit, made of stainless steel, and heavily guarded. She desperately hoped that they were not going to talk to her about the event that occurred all those years ago...

She tried to steady herself and act tough. “So what do you want?” She asked sternly, slightly growling as she crossed her arms and glared at her parents, who were holding hands sadly at the opposite side of the table. Even though she managed to keep the sadness and worry out of her voice, it wouldn't leave her body. Her tail had curled up between her legs and her cat ears drooped sadly.

“You like the outside world....Don't you Melanee...?” Her mother questioned sadly with tears in her eyes, to which Melanee just nodded slowly.
“You see...I'm not actually from....this planet...” Her father spoke slowly, unusually calm. This did not faze Melanee however, as she had already overheard her parents talking about it previously. “In fact, I am the son of a hero on my home planet...And war has struck...”

Melanee just continued to stare. The way her father was talking, it just seemed to her that he would be going away for a while to fight the war, which wouldn't bother her, as she had never known her parents anymore then just posters on the wall. “But they say I am too old and corrupted to be taught...” He continued slowly, his statement surprising Melanee, causing her to loose her stern gaze and lower her arms gently. Apparently, he was not leaving for the war....then who was? “Wha...What?” She stared at Karrell in shock, not entirely sure what was going on anymore.

Karrell cleared his throat before speaking again as Thabian began heaving up heavy sobs in the corner. “They can't have me so they want......you.” he sighed heavily and stood up, leaving Thabian alone as he walked over to Melanee and pulled out a white handkerchief and darkly coloured vial.

Melanee watched in both curiosity and horror, trying to determine the contents of the vial and what was to happen next. Karrell lifted up the vial and emptied it on to the handkerchief, the liquid inside perfectly clear. He then held the handkerchief roughly against Melanee's mouth and nose. “I'm sorry..” Was the last thing she heard during her useless struggle, before everything went black and she fell to the floor limply.

    Chapter Two

As light returned to the world around her and Melanee regained consciousness, she was greeted by the dark blue muzzle of a large, leathery creature with small black scales connecting its muzzle to its face as it stared at her with its deep red eyes. The creature took a step back into the light of the double suns, revealing its full self.

His leathery skin was mostly dark blue except for the underside of his thick tail and jaw, which reached down his neck to his chest and stomach and was a lighter blue. A rough patch of dark blue chin-length hair slightly covered his eyes, split at the back by his huge pointed ears and large black horns.

He was wearing only a light green pair of jeans which had an emerald green belt around his right thigh and just above his left knee. There was also a spiked, dark green belt around his waist, base and middle of his tail, and his left hand. On his left, he wore a light green fingerless glove instead. The plain emerald green collar around his neck happened to be the only accessory on the upper half of his body.

As Melanee fully opened her eyes, the creature beamed at her, revealing his sharp, creamy white fangs and teeth. “Hi! I'm Demoriel, You must be Melanee!” He roared quietly, seeming to be rather excited. Demoriel held out a clawed hand to help her to her feet, but she just passed out again from the shock, as she had expected to wake up in her room at the lab, not be greeted by a row of deadly sharp teeth.

When she awoke yet again a few minutes later, Demoriel was sitting by a small campfire cooking eggs. As Melanee stood up and took a proper look around, she noticed she was in a small grassy clearing in the middle of a dense forest. “Outside huh? What-the-hell!” She screamed quietly and continued to look around madly for any signs of home, to find none.

He did not look away from the fire as he spoke. “If you can't tell, your not on Earth anymore..” He gestured towards the sky and the double sun. “This is Ceralean, and your not going home for a while...” He grinned slightly and put two slightly runny eggs on a plain white porcelain plate he had sitting beside him before thrusting it towards Melanee. “Egg?” Melanee shook her head roughly, still taking in all the details. She then picked up the smell of the eggs, and having not eaten in quite a while, she accepted it eagerly. “Hungry I see..” He chuckled as he ate the last two eggs himself and put out the fire with his bare, clawed foot, the heat of it appearing to have no affect on him.

Once Melanee had finished eating, Demoriel took her plate and tucked it into his black, side saddle bag with his own. She watched her surroundings cautiously as she stood up and followed Demoriel, who had gestured for her presence and had begun heading through the forest, sniffing occasionally. She decided that if she was on some crazy planet she had never seen before, it would be best to stick with her guide.

“I bet your wondering why you're here?” He chortled as he strode through the forest proudly with Melanee, who was busy focusing on where she was going, close behind. “First off, I'm your bodyguard, so you can't just ditch me. Second, your grandfather was a great hero and magician...Kept this world at peace until he suddenly fell ill and died a week ago, and we need someone of his blood line to replace him...”

Melanee's ears perked up slightly at the word Magician. She had read a lot about magic in the lab, but was constantly told that it did not exist...But if it did, she would be eager to learn it. Demoriel continued through the forest, sniffing and changing his direction occasionally. “Your father had attempted to learn magic as a kid, but lets face it, he hasn't a magic bone in his body!” He laughed quietly at his own joke, frowning slightly and continuing when Melanee remained quiet. “also, he is too old for school now, but you are perfect. And since you have no siblings or offspring, we have no other choice.”

Too old for school? Melanee thought to herself curiously. What was school? And why does it have an age limit? When Demoriel had finished talking, Melanee noticed that they had stopped outside a rather large, military Grey building that seemed to have a slight light blue glow. “So let me get this straight, I'm on an alien planet that seems deserted, following a giant, strangely coloured lizard and my grandfather who I never knew is a hero and I'm going to go to this so called “school” and learn magic to take his place?” She spoke angrily as she tried to decipher the whole occurrence in her mind, before huffing loudly and giving up. Demoriel then led her into the building, spoke in another language that appeared to be made up of a lot of throaty hisses and growls, to a young human girl, before proceeding down a short hallway.

He stopped in front of two doors on either side of the corridor, one labeled “Egg's” And the other “Live Birth's”.
“Yes” He chuckled quietly and tapped her shoulder affectionately. “You will go to magic school...but first....” He beamed and raised his arms in victory, half gesturing at the doors. “You need to pick out a pet!”

    Chapter Three

Melanee had chosen a creature that would hatch from an egg rather then one previously born, as it would need more work and in turn be more affectionate towards her. She pretended that the fact that she had a major thing for reptiles had nothing to do with it, which Demoriel did not believe as she had spent her whole life around them.

Demoriel had led Melanee into the egg room and shut the door behind them, as it was the rules stated on a small sign on the wall. “Eggies!” Demoriel roared excitably as he looked around the room excitably. Melanee was also looking around at the eggs of all shapes, sizes, colours and patterns. She kind of liked the small purple and pink spotted egg but was especially drawn to a dark black orb a few feet away. It had a thin, dark blue Celtic pattern invading the previous colour of the egg and was slightly bigger then her head. She picked it up carefully and held it in both paws as she examined it from every angle curiously.

“Thats a dragon egg...” Demoriel sighed in awe as he noticed the egg in Melanee's paws. “Dragons will leave their masters if not treated right...” He sniffed the egg slightly, a small amount of light blue smoke floating out of his nostrils as he did so. “I want him..” Melanee grinned as she gently caressed the rock hard, yet surprisingly light orb. Demoriel just nodded in agreement and led her and the orb out of the room, shutting the door behind them again before heading back over to the human girl.

He spoke to her in the animal like language for a few minutes, which further confused Melanee before handing the human a shiny sky blue coin from his back pocket. The girl bowed low in thanks and pocketed the coin as she began to lead them towards a glowing blue room. Melanee figured that was what made the whole building glow as Demoriel gestured for her to follow, yet she was weary.

Once they were inside the room Melanee saw what looked like one of the glowing test tubes from the lab, except much larger and empty. There was also an opening in the bottom of the test tube large enough for people to walk through. “Better give me that for now..” Demoriel gestured towards the egg still in her grasp. Melanee stared at Demoriel curiously as she handed the egg to him carefully. She was wondering why he was acting so strangely, as he had not seemed that serious before, but just figured that he did not like the glowing test tube. Melanee did not understand why, she had spent the first few years of her life in one, and felt drawn to it like a child to their mother. Demoriel nodded and took the egg in both paws before carefully nesting it in his bag and gesturing at Melanee to get into the test tube.

“Careful, most people get sick the first time they use a teleporter” Demoriel warned as he dragged the slightly confused Melanee into the test tube by the wrist, making sure the egg was safely in his bag as he did so. “What's going on? Why did you call the glowing womb with a view a teleporter?” Melanee whined curiously, completely lost by the current situation and why it seemed as though she was going back into stasis. As soon as she had fully stepped into the tube she was surrounded by a blinding blue light that impaired her vision and began to make her feel very queezy.

Demoriel held onto her hand tightly as she felt as though her feet were no longer touching the ground, and due to the bright light she could not see if it were true or not. “Demoriel!” She screamed quietly, a hint of panic in her voice as she squeezed his hand tightly. She did not like the fact that she had to resort to someone else's comforting, but this scared her. She quickly felt thick, leathery arms embracing her as the light dulled slightly. “It's alright...” Demoriel whispered as he hugged her close to his chest. Demoriel's voice and actions was strangely comforting for her and shortly after, the light began to fade.

Moments later her vision returned fully and she found herself in the middle of a busy street with Demoriel's arms around her affectionately. This fact made her highly embarrassed and a deep red blush covered her cheeks, hardly visible due to her fur, as she quickly pushed away from the now laughing Demoriel. “Aww how cute! Your blushing!” He cooed and grinned widely, apparently in a much better mood now that they had arrived.

Melanee just growled quietly, a shocked expression coming over her as she quickly ran to a nearby wall and used it to hold herself up as she vomited. “A lot less cute..” Demoriel frowned as he walked over to her and held her hair out of her face, which did not have much effect as it stuck to the fur around her mouth. “Ugh..” She groaned loudly after she had finished. “Not nice..” She sighed and turned to face Demoriel, who allowed her hair to flow out of his paws. “Next time we use one of those things, no hugging!” She growled angrily as she wiped her mouth with the back of her paw.

A nearby elderly man growled angrily and stormed over to Demoriel and Melanee. “Where is your owner?! We have decency laws here! Put some clothes on that Veelah!” He huffed angrily and pointed at Melanee accusingly. Demoriel bowed low in apology. “I am dreadfully sorry sir, I did not realize..” He frowned sadly and reached into his bag, removing a long black robe before passing it to Melanee. “Did not realize?!” The old man huffed. “And here you claim to be a royal guard! Bah!” He huffed again and stormed off angrily. Demoriel just let out a quiet sigh and turned to Melanee. “Should be your size, I asked your father..” He pointed to the robe now in her hands. Melanee just stared from it, to Demoriel, and back again. What did the man mean by being a Veelah and having an owner? And what was this strange fabric? She had only worn it when people had been visiting the lab...

“Whats a Veelah?” Melanee questioned curiously as she faced the wall and put the robe on, slightly embarrassed by the fact that Demoriel could see her dress, even though she had been naked the whole time she was around him. “A Veelah is another name for our kind, cross-breeds... A rather derogatory term though...” He sighed heavily and shrugged. “I will be teaching you more about this planet after your classes, seeing as its only half way through the first term you would have only missed the history lesson..” Melanee thought this was very rude, pulling her away from her home without warning and throwing her straight into school..and making her wear strange fabric's even!

Once Melanee was dressed she turned back around and growled slightly. “This is damn itchy..” She growled again as she scratched her chest through the robe. “Where are we?” She sighed and looked around. Demoriel turned back to face her, as he had been polite and looked away when she was dressing. “This is Seria... The main city of Ceralean...” Not finding anything interesting about the town he had grown up in, he shrugged again before lightly grabbing her by the shoulders and spinning her around slowly to face the gates of an extremely large court yard.

At the end of the long terracotta path that ran through the garden was a huge, marble mansion with an extremely tall clock tower that could be seen from anywhere in the city. Past the garden on either side of the path were slightly smaller, two story sand stone dormitories. “What is this place? It's beautiful...” Melanee stared and gasped in awe as Demoriel led her down the path, past a couple of large water fountains that were occupied by a large number of unnaturally coloured goldfish. Demoriel stopped midway and turned to face her, grinning widely. “This is your new school!”

    Chapter Four

“You’re joking, right?” Melanee laughed quietly as Demoriel led her through the main building which had blue diamond windows and polished onyx floor tiles. “Nope, just make sure you don't eat anyone, like I did...” He chuckled and scratched his cheek nervously as they ascended the marble staircase, the hand rails made of polished Ivory. “What happened then?” Melanee chuckled quietly, picturing the scene as she ran her hand along the rails smoothly. Demoriel huffed out a small amount of blue smoke before replying. “Long story short, it's how I became a bodyguard for the Queen.” Melanee raised her eyebrow curiously and looked at him. The educational buildings she had gone to at the lab were nothing like this; they was dull, enclosed and bloodstained. This was open, gorgeous and relaxing.

Well here we are...” Demoriel gestured towards a solid blue diamond door in front of them. “I warn you, there are bound to be comments...” Melanee watched intently, slightly curious as to what Demoriel meant by “comments” as he knocked on the door loudly before opening it carefully, and leading her in beside him. Melanee saw that they were at the back of a large class room and all the children at the marble desks were human, around her age and wearing the same black robe as hers. They also happened to be staring at her and the serious looking Demoriel, every single one of them. And then the whispers began.

"Look at that guard...Could she be the new rumored student of the Queen?”
“Maybe… But why would the Queen send a Veelah to OUR school?!”
“I heard the new student was Master Whittaker's Grand daughter...”
“I was told she wasn't even Cerulean, but from a tiny, magic-less planet called Earth!”
    “She's so pretty...”
“What are you talking about?! She's a Veelah for Christ’s s-“
”SILENCE!!” The booming voice of the teacher ended the chatter immediately, causing all the students to return to their seats with great speed.

"Ah Demoriel! Long time no see! Is this the new student?” The teacher questioned politely, his long white hair bouncing unnaturally as he walked to the back of the class to greet them. “Yes sir!” Demoriel bowed lowly and gestured for Melanee to do the same, but she just stared around the room blankly, highly confused. The students were apparently talking about her, but who was this Master Whittaker? And why was her kind so detested?

The teacher chuckled quietly in response. “New is she?”
“Yes sir, only arrived this morning” Demoriel replied politely, his stern expression never leaving his face. “Very well, is she joining class immediately or do you have other plans for today?” The teacher headed back towards the front of the class, gently tapping the shoulder of a young boy who was whispering to his neighbor, in a way of saying to silence himself. “I was hoping to show her around the school today...” Demoriel bowed lowly again as Melanee gently tapped the door behind them in boredom. “Very well, Melanee, come up here please...” She responded to her name and nodded before obeying, her tail gently swaying beneath her robe as she made her way to the front of the class, rather confused by the incident as she had not been paying attention.

Students, this is Melanee Whittaker, she has been requested to be taught here by the Queen and you are to respect her!” The teacher demanded sternly and gestured towards Melanee, who was looking around curiously, her ears twitching slightly in response. “Why do we have to respect a Veelah?!” One of the young boys huffed snobbishly. “Because if you don't, she will kick your a**!” The teacher yelled at the boy and gently slapped his cheek, the child responded with a quiet yelp before backing down.

Demoriel then led Melanee out of the class room and down the hall. “Question” She raised her hand slightly as she followed him. “What just happened?” He just chuckled in response and linked her arm in his before pulling her onto what appeared to be a floating crystal platform. Melanee did not seem to like the affection, but her mind was more on her surroundings. “What floor please?” A feminine computerized voice could be heard as the platform began to rise slowly. “Top, Please...” Demoriel sighed heavily “I really hate using these...Why can't we all just walk?” He whined quietly. Melanee glanced around the platform in shock due to the movement.

“Floor fifty-three it is” The robotic voice replied cheerfully before the platform began shooting upwards at great speeds suddenly, causing Melanee to trip over. “Oof...Where are we going?” She growled impatiently as Demoriel helped her to her feet. “To the principals office, to find out what staffroom were in.” He held onto her arm tightly so she would not fall again. At first Melanee protested the physical contact, but then the platform sped up again and she almost fell a second time. This made her decide it was best to keep a hold on Demoriel for now.

“Wouldn't I be in the dorm though?” She watched the walls zoom by in both curiosity and distaste. This machine had made her fall over, she didn’t like it. “No way! Your not allowed to ditch me and there’s no way I'm going to share a room with some loser!” he grinned at her and poked his thick tongue out as the platform began to slow drastically, this creating more trouble for Melanee’s self-balance. “And you call yourself a cat!” Demoriel chucked quietly, watching her. “Cat’s have balance.” Melanee just growled in reply.

“Top floor, principals office, have a nice day!” The robotic girl replied cheerfully once they had fully stopped. The platform opened up to a large, single room. “I hate that thing!” Melanee growled loudly at the platform as Demoriel once again began to lead her to the front of the room. Once they had arrived at the front desk, Melanee saw a busty young woman sitting behind it. She had flowing red hair and was wearing a long, silk black dress that looked to be rather costly. “Ah Demoriel! I've missed you!” She beamed slyly.

    Chapter Five

“You’re Majesty” Demoriel bowed low, grinning slightly before turning to Melanee. “You really should bow in the presence of the queen...” he suggested quietly. Melanee just crossed her arms angrily. “Like hell I will” She huffed loudly as she glared at the lady. “First you bastards take me out of my home and now you send me off to some stupid school, and I have no idea what is going on other then that! Well I've had enough, I want to go home!” She growled quietly. Demoriel just sighed as he removed the plates from earlier and placed them on the Queen's desk, having expected this kind of reaction.

“Ooh a bit feisty isn't she?” The queen grinned as she stood up and walked around the desk and passed a small, round, pearl-coloured object to Demoriel. “Your room is floor fifteen. You two be good now” She winked as she gestured for Demoriel and Melanee to leave, returning to her desk as she did so. Demoriel nodded and led the still angry Melanee back to the elevator and told the automated voice to go to floor fifteen. “And don't be so formal next time Demmy!” The Queen called out just before the elevator began to drop.

Melanee stood directly in the middle of the platform and held tightly onto Demoriel's arm so she would not fall, even though she did not like it. “What kind of royalty acts like that?” She huffed angrily and scratched at her robes again. Demoriel just roared quietly and shrugged. “A fun one, she's always like that, I think the only time I've seen her serious was when she met her father for the first time.” Melanee shrugged the comment off roughly and got a little dizzy as she watched the walls zoom past her and then begin to slow down. The change in speed made her fall to the floor even though she had support.

“You really are rough on your feet, aren't you?” Demoriel let out a small, happy roar as he stepped off the platform onto the small walkway that was barely big enough for two people. “Please depart the transport module.” The automated woman instructed at Melanee, who went and squished up beside Demoriel in the hallway, rather frustrated at the whole event. “Ugh, don't give you much room, do they?” She whined angrily as she put her paws against the door to keep her steady, her tail curling around her right leg so that it would not get in the way.

“They don't usually get two people on one floor” he chuckled as he pulled out the small object the Queen had given to him and gently stuck it into a small hole in the dark oak door. The stone fit perfectly and caused the door to open slowly. Melanee had been holding onto Demoriel and the door for support so when he moved and stepped through the door she tumbled to the floor, half her body falling onto the platform. The incident was exceptionally dangerous as someone from a higher floor had requested the elevator and it had begun to rise, lifting Melanee’s lower half with it.

“Oh crap!” She screamed as she tried to remove herself from the platform, catching Demoriel's attention with her bad language. He instantly turned around and grabbed her hand that was dangling off the platform and pulled her inwards, causing her to fall directly into his embrace. “Saved you” Demoriel roared happily as a small amount of smoke leaked out of his nostrils. “Thanks, but you’re hugging me.” Melanee growled quietly as she examined Demoriel's arms around her waist.

“It appears so” He grinned slyly and poked his tongue out at her. It took a few seconds for Melanee to regain her senses after the shock before she pushed Demoriel back slightly and rushed into the large living room that greeted them, trying to escape the previous event. “Aww come on... Don't be such a meanie!” Demoriel whined as he followed her in, taking the stone out of the door so it quickly shut behind him. Demoriel's species of Veelah was naturally affectionate, most of them just tried not to show it due to their proud draconic nature. Obviously, Demoriel was rather different.

“Not bad…” Melanee shrugged roughly as she slumped down on the black nylon couch, not wanting to admit her pleasure at the sight. She had lived in a small, enclosed cell room her whole life, so this was luxury. Demoriel left her in the living room as he went to explore the rest of the apartment. The whole house was covered with black carpet and deep blue walls, except for in the bedroom, where the walls were a deep, romantic red. Melanee had also begun to inspect the place she would be living for the next few years or so, and sneered at the bedroom.

After a few minutes she arrived in the large kitchen with Demoriel, she had a very worried look on her face. “What wrong?” He questioned politely as he opened the fridge to find it relatively empty, which caused him to sulk slightly. “Am I the only one who's noticed there is only one bedroom?” She huffed angrily. Demoriel just looked up at her, seemingly confused. “Of course there's only one room, these are single person apartments. What’s the problem with that?” He raised his eyebrow curiously and put his bag down beside a spare space of wall. “THERE ARE TWO OF US!!” She screamed at him angrily, causing him to almost fall over in shock, having only avoided the event by grabbing onto the nearby bench.

“Oh um...yeah...that's a problem...” He scratched his cheek nervously, unable to find anything more to say. That did not cool Melanee's anger at all and she stormed out of the room, heading straight for the bedroom where she slammed the door shut behind her and sat down on the black double bed. Demoriel had been following her when he suddenly got a face full of door. He sulked for a moment before thinking of an idea to coax her out of the bedroom.

Demoriel beamed silently as he walked over to his bag and reached into it, pulling out her large egg before returning to the bedroom door. “Hey Mel, don't ya wanna know how to hatch your eggie?” He giggled quietly and stood at the door waiting. After a few seconds Melanee opened the door and snatched her egg out of Demoriel's grasp, looking around guiltily in the process. “Yes...But where will I sleep tonight?” She had calmed down significantly and now seemed more depressed then angry.

“One of us can use the couch for tonight.” he stated obviously and walked to the dining room, sitting at the small, two seater table carefully so he did not break it. Melanee just sighed heavily and followed, sitting opposite Demoriel as she placed the egg in the middle of the table. “If I have to....” She stated slightly upset before getting a more serious tone in her voice, trying to hide that she was excited.

“So, what do I do?” Melanee questioned after staring blankly at the egg for about half an hour. Demoriel would have gotten her attention sooner but he found the event hilarious. “Finally you ask!” He laughed loudly. “You kept staring and staring, you didn't even blink!” it took him great difficulty to stifle his laughter. “I thought you were never going to move!” He grinned before bursting out laughing again, mumbling things about the occurrence excitably.

“Shut up... Just tell me what to do..” She growled quietly, half sighing at the same time. “Alright alright!” He continued to grin widely, a small flash of light shone through a nearby window and caused his pearly white fangs to shine slightly. “Whatcha gotta do is close your eyes a focus....picture the egg hatching in your mind, and the creature you think will hatch out of it. But you really gotta focus!” he nodded rapidly and then stood up and left the room.

Melanee could barely make out what he said, as he had spoken too fast. She finally managed to piece it together when he had returned with a couple of hand towels and two small dishes. One small dish he filled with water, and the other with raw steak sliced into small chunks. “Go on! Do it!” He grinned as he set the equipment down on the table. Melanee shook her head roughly, finally figuring out the event before relaxing. Closing her eyes, she reached out and placed her paws palm down on curved surface of the egg before focusing hard on it. In her mind she pictured her orb like egg hatching and a small turtle climbing out of it. This made her chuckle a bit.

She got serious shortly after and it took her a while to picture the hatching of the proper creature. As she did this, a pair of words came to mind. She quickly opened her eyes and stared at Demoriel before calmly repeating the words that trailed inside her mind. “Fiezta Kahorem.” She grinned widely. Demoriel nodded proudly towards Melanee and her egg, which caught her attention as well as it began to shake and crack.

    Chapter Six

Melanee stared in shock as the egg began to crack. After a few minutes a small, black muzzle poked through a crack in the egg and looked around a little before darting back inside. “What the?” Melanee raised her eyebrow slightly as she looked at Demoriel, who was watching the egg curiously. She turned her gaze back to the egg just as the small creature inside spread it's wings as wide as it could, causing the egg to shatter into hundreds of pieces that spread all over the table.

“Ah! Wow!” Melanee exclaimed as the tiny dragon stumbled about the table before sneezing softly, a tiny amount of smoke erupted from it's nostril's as it did so. Melanee giggled quietly, the dragon having destroyed her bad a** act with it's cuteness, she had never seen a full blooded dragon before, and loved it. “Here, feed him this” Demoriel beamed as he passed the dish of meat to Melanee. This caught the little Dragon's attention and he sniffed at it eagerly as it passed his nose.

Melanee carefully grabbed a rather small piece of raw steak and held it up to the Dragon, slightly disgusted by the feel of it yet also drawn to it, the smell of flesh attracting her more animalistic senses. The tiny creature snapped aggressively at the meat, snatching it up with his tiny teeth that were excruciatingly sharp. “Oi! Watch the teeth!” Melanee exclaimed as she pulled her hand away quickly to avoid being bitten.

“Aww he's so cute!” Demoriel cooed as the dragon chewed and swallowed the small chunk of meat before struggling over to the dishes an inch away from himself as he began feasting on the meat. “Adorable..” Melanee agreed as she reached out and brushed her index finger along the top of the dragon's head. It moved its head away from the food and towards her hand, letting out a deep, throaty roar of affection as it did so. Mind you, the dragon was so small that his tiny roar could hardly be heard.

Melanee looked up at Demoriel, slightly confused as she finally realized his previous words. “How do you know it's a boy?” She stated accusingly. He just chuckled in reply and lifted up his hefty blue tail. “I'm half dragon, you know. I'm clever!” He smiled cheekily as he sniffed the air slightly. “You should name him!” He grinned enthusiastically as he dropped his tail and gently ran a claw across the dragon's scaly back, down the tail and examined the clawed paws.

Melanee nodded and stopped petting the dragon. “I will call him....Xaviour!” She smiled sweetly as the little dragon let out a tiny, happy roar as if it was pleased with the name. Xaviour shifted his feet and tail happily before going back to the meat, using his mouth like a bucket to scoop water for a drink occasionally.

“That's a nice name, I think he likes it too!” Demoriel smiled and Xaviour looked at him and nodded, a small piece of steak hanging out of his mouth as he did so. Demoriel and Melanee laughed quietly at this and watched Xaviour eat for a few minutes before Melanee perked up, her curiosity getting the better of her. “What language did I use to make Xaviour hatch?” This question caused Demoriel to grin proudly. “Dragon, but we will go into spell languages later.” Melanee just nodded slowly, not really paying attention to anything other then her new pet.

After a few minutes, Xaviour had finished eating and stumbled over to Melanee before nuzzling her hand affectionately. “He really likes you” Demoriel beamed happily and Melanee nodded and pet Xaviour in return. “I can't believe you're actually going to sleep on the couch...” Demoriel whined loudly, having wanted a teddy bear for the night. Melanee just shrugged in response. “Yeah well, Nurr.” She chuckled as she poked her tongue at him before scooping Xaviour up in her arms. “I'm going to get some rest, been a busy day..” She sighed as she retired to the couch. Demoriel stayed awake for a few hours later, keeping watch. Before also heading to bed.
