They brought him back in time, away from the pain, even as he steadied the smooth surface upon which he stood. The sparks were her eyes, somehow bright, even in the night. Flecked with a rich honey, they were nervous, yet ecstatic. She must have been suspicious.
    tab "Do you see the city, the stars, and the moon? They are wondrous, although they are not enough. The world needs the sun, for light, growth, and happiness. It needs the sun for life. This is how I need you, now and forever. Marry me; I promise I'll make you feel the same."
    tab She smiled, all doubt gone in a matter of seconds.
    tab The same smile lit her face as the memory changed. The only difference: the lines of worry that never quite disappeared.
    tab "Welcome home. The doctors say it looks healthy, but I wish I knew to get blue or pink for the room. These four months have been long, hun. I hate that I have five more left. It's killing me."

    tab "It's killing me! You did this. You!"
    tab He knew she was in pain, that she didn't mean it. It cut deeply anyways.
    tab Forward again, less far. The calm and sterile teal of the room has no right to exist.
    tab "Get the husband out! More nurses, now!"
    tab "Damn it, Clear!"
    A lifetime of waiting.

    How many universes have been born and died in this eternity?

    tab The current no longer ran through her. Everything is silent... no crying. Both of them are gone....
    tab The easy green taunted him again as he stared at the floor... the chair. It wobbled again as the each separate memory stabbed him; blows to his heart.
    tab And the pain reminded him what he was doing. He lifted one leg and kicked the chair from beneath him, and escaped the pain.
