Chapter 3
Grace’s P.O.V.
I suddenly stopped crying when Nick wrapped his arms around me. He was comforting me. But I don’t think that I will even stop hurting. I was all alone again. With no one to understand how I feel ever again.
I know I have my friends, but they don’t know lonely I truly felt. I can’t depend on anyone anymore. Seems like my dream won’t come true after all.
I was still in Nick’s arms. I looked at him for a second. I then looked away because he was staring at me. I suddenly felt embarrassed. Here I was, on top of the hill with the most gorgeous boy ever. But I still couldn’t get over the depression of losing Kristen.
Nick kept repeating, “It’s ok” to me. He never let go of me until the sun started to sun.
He let me go and got up. I was expecting him to leave. But then he reached for my hand and helped me get up. He hadn’t let go of my hand. I suddenly bit my lip from saying something stupid.
“I should walk you home,” he said. “It’s getting pretty late.”
“Okay,” I said awkwardly. He still hadn’t let go of my hand.
Nick and I were walking slowly. He hadn’t said a word while we were walking. I wanted to say something, but I didn’t want say anything weird. So I just kept my mouth shut the whole way.
While we were walking, some girls noticed Nick and I holding hands. They gave me a dirty look. Like they were jealous of me. Why would they be jealous? I didn’t show off or anything. I decided to ignore them.
I told Nick where I lived, but I would’ve managed going home by myself. I guess he was trying to be a gentleman. I smiled at the thought. We were about one block away from my house.
“Oh before I forget,” Nick suddenly said. “What’s your cell number? I might call tomorrow to see if you would be doing okay.”
“Oh, um, sure,” I said. I pulled out a piece of paper and a pen out of my purse and wrote my number. “Here.”
“Thanks,” he smiled. “So I guess I’ll see you whenever.” I then noticed we were in front of my house. “Bye, Grace.”
I waved goodbye and went inside.
In was vacant in my house. I guess my family was still somewhere by the hospital to tell Kristen’s parents what happened.
I suddenly became sad again. I would never see Kristen again. I guess I would just get over it. I don’t Kristen would want me to be depressed forever just because she had passed away.
I sighed and decided to go to bed. I was actually pretty tired of all the walking and crying. I never thought that I would ever see Nick again. I was ever more surprised when he held me so close to him. I wonder if I will ever get to know more about him. I only met him yesterday, so I’m hoping.
After I got ready for bed, I suddenly fell asleep. I dreamt about the times the times Kristen and me spent together while I was a little kid. Kristen was nine back then, and I was six. I was learning how to ride a two-wheeler and she was helping. I fell about a thousand times, and Kristen would always pick me up and asked if I was okay. I would miss those days where we would have fun and talk about secrets and just be ourselves. I suddenly felt tears in my eyes and slipped to my cheek, onto the pillow. I thought about other times about Kristen. And the fun times we had.
I suddenly woke up at the sound of my cell phone ringing. I got up too fast and fell. I crawled up to my purse and searched for my phone. I found it and checked the caller ID. Hm nobody.
“Hello?” I greeted in a hoarse voice.
“Hey Grace,” a familiar voice answered.
“Oh hey Nick,” I said hazily.
“Did I wake you up? You sound off,” he asked, her voice sounding concerned.
“Yeah, sorry.” I apologized. “I like sleeping in.” I tried to laugh, but the sound that came out of my mouth was a whispered giggle.
Nick laughed too. “So you feeling better?” he asked.
“Yeah, I guess I’m feeling better,” I replied.
“Okay good, cause I sort of told my brothers what happened yesterday.”
“You what?” I asked trying to sound mad.
“I’m sorry,” he said warily. “I just thought you wouldn’t mind if I told them.”
“I know,” I laughed. “It’s okay if you told them. I don’t mind at all. Nick laughed. I laughed with him.
“So would you like to meet them?” he suddenly asked.
“Your brothers? Sure.” I said. I felt excited. I wondered if his brothers were as awesome as he was.
“Okay, so I’ll pick you up in about an hour.” He stated. “That should give you about enough time to wake yourself up.” He chuckled lightly.
“Sure see you then.” I then hung up the phone and started getting ready.
It took me about fifteen minutes to get ready. I was so excited that I was running around the whole house trying to distract myself. Nothing worked. I decided to watch some T.V. while I waited. On the entertainment channel, it said that a lot of girls were very excited of the arrival of the Jonas Brothers. It seems that they have moved in about a few days ago.
I laughed at the girls screaming just because the Jonas brothers were in town. I wonder where in Edmonton they moved. They’re probably not even going to be living here.
There was suddenly a knock at the door. One hour already? I guess making fun of people passes the time. I got up and answered the door. There Nick was, leaning against the side of the doorframe. I smiled.
“Hey. Ready to go?” he asked.
“Yeah,” I said, trying to sound confident.
“Then let’s go,” he encouraged.
He took my hand and pulled me with him. We walked about a few blocks before he stopped. In front of him was a house, the size of a mini hotel. I dropped my jaw in surprise. It was just so big.
Nick suddenly laughed. I looked at him, confused. He just smiled and towed me closer to the huge mansion. I suddenly felt nervous. I really hope that Nick’s brothers will like me. All the guys I have known always like to make fun of me. It makes me sad.
I breathed in and braced myself of what was inside of Nick’s house. On the inside it actually looks pretty normal. It actually looks exactly like my house, except bigger. Beige colored walls, the living room that was connected to the kitchen. It seems normal.
“NICK!” A guy suddenly yelled.
“Yeah?” Nick yelled back.
“When are you bringing that girl over?” the guy said. “I want to see if that girl is as hot as you said she was.” Was he talking about me? Awkward.
“Why don’t you ask her yourself?” he laughed. I smiled a bit.
“Oh!” the guy said when he came in view. “Oops!”
“Nice job,” another guy said as he came down the stairs. I started laughing a bit. They probably act like this a lot.
Nick’s brothers came down the stairs. As I started to see them more clearly, I could see that they are really good looking as well. The one who asked the question to Nick was a tall, with shaggy dark brown hair. He has lines under his eyes by smiling and laughing too much apparently. The other one was just as tall, but with dark curly hair, not as curly as Nick’s. He was smiling at me, but I could see his sideburns.
“Grace,” Nick called. “These are my brothers, Joe and Kevin.”
“Hey,” they both said together.
Hm… Nick, Joe, and Kevin. It suddenly clicked.
“Hey did you guys know that you have the same names as the Jonas Brothers?” I asked.
They then started laughing. I just stared, probably looking confused. “Grace, hun,” Nick started saying between laughs. “We are the Jonas Brothers.”
