• Summer Break. Those two words brought back so many memories. Memories of happiness and nightmares come real. The time I was changed into what I am now. Almost 100 in human years, but I look as if I am barely seventeen. For so many years, my kind has killed innocent people. Most of my kind has turned to the darkness, and I am thinking about following them. My sister let the darkness claim her, and she is more powerful than everyone else. She has no care for humans, and most vampires. I am one of the few she spends some of her time with. She always urges me to join her on the dark side. I don’t know what I am going to do. I just hope I don’t take a bite out of the forbidden fruit

    Chapter one
As always, I found myself rushing to wake up and get ready for school. Today was the first day of my last year of high school. I discovered that I had accidently skipped breakfast when I rushed out the front door. “Oh well, Katie’s worshipers will probably bring her something I can talk her into giving to me,” I thought as I ran across the sidewalk.
I felt my feet hit the pavement hard, but no sound was made. I also ran very quickly, without even trying. I had always been able to do this. I don’t know why, or how, but it got me on the track team. But I felt my feet slowing. I felt like something was wrong, almost as if there was something there, watching me. My heart was racing, I could barely breath. I felt frightened and forced myself to speed back up.
I eventually made it to the school. Woodland High, my high school. I saw all the other people walking around the campus. I quickly found the big group of people crowding around someone. “There she is,” I thought. I walked to the crowd and searched for Katie. It didn’t take long to find her; she was right in the middle of the crowd, as always. I shoved through the crowd to get to her. She looked a little different from last year. Her blonde hair was paler, and she seemed somewhat taller. But the thing that wasn’t different was that she was flirting with all the guys.
I finally got to Katie and asked her how she was. She quickly answered me with a hug. “I’ve been great, how ‘bout you?” She asked.
“Great. I see you’re still the queen of the school,” I answered her. She replied to my comment with her big smile, or least that was how it seemed. I didn’t understand why she started pointing behind me. So I turned around and felt shocked.
I looked behind me and there was some sort of foreign looking car pulling into the school parking lot. But what stepped out of it was even more shocking. It was the most handsome looking guy I had ever seen. I couldn’t believe my eyes. He face had perfectly carved features. His hair was black, and straight. But a couple seconds after seeing him, I felt like I had this morning walking to school. There was just something frightening about him. I felt his eyes lock in on mine. I felt a sudden jolt of pain.
Katie must have known something was wrong with me; it was like she knew that my legs were going to collapse under me. I just felt myself falling, and someone grabbing my shoulders. Then everything went black.
When I woke up I was in the nurse’s office, lying down. I suddenly heard a voice. “Be grateful to your friend here, if it weren’t for her, you would have hit your head.” I looked over at the nurse, and then at Katie. I tried to sit up, but I could barely move. I felt like a trapped prisoner, with absolutely no way to break free.
“Thanks Katie. I guess I should have eaten breakfast.”I said with a little laugh. She just continued to sit there, looking concerned. “What’s the matter?”I asked her. She just continued to sit there.
“She been acting like that ever since she and that one boy brought you here,” Said the nurse. “So, I decided to keep her here too. I guess she is still in shock from you falling or something.” I wanted to ask her what boy, but I decided not to. I finally was able to sit up.
“Come on Katie, let’s go to class,” I heard the words, but it felt like they weren’t coming from my mouth. But it was my voice. Katie stood up and walked towards the exit. I joined her and yelled thanks to the nurse. Katie was walking very slowly; it was hard for me to not walk quicker than her. She was still quite. “Well, I’ll catch up with you later,” I said to her when I saw my first period.
I slipped into an empty seat, and thankfully the teacher didn’t notice me. The rest of the day was just a blur. Even lunch was. Usually lunch is my favorite time of the day. The day eventually ended and I walked to the front of the school. I wasn’t planning on staying there, but I did.
I must have been there for a while when I felt someone behind me. I felt my heart racing, like I was about to be attacked. I quickly turned around. I came face to face with Katie. “Oh, it’s just you, where were you? I’ve being waiting for hours,” I said. She still just continued to sit there. “Come on Katie, this is getting creepy. Why haven’t you said a word since this morning?” I asked her.
Suddenly, there was this weird hissing noise. It took me a second to figure out it was coming from Katie’s throat. But she wasn’t hissing at me. I looked toward the direction Katie started walking. She was walking up to Jason Smallwood. Jason was the only other person there, and I was afraid Katie might hurt him. I ran over to them, but it was too late. Katie had already scratched his face. I eventually caught hold of her wrists, and pulled her away. But I could barely hold her back.
“Need some help?” Asked a voice behind me. I turned my head around and saw that new boy. He didn’t wait for an answer; instead, he helped me hold Katie back. He yelled run to Jason. Like it was a command, Jason got up and ran to his house. Then Katie went limp. “She needs a doctor, really badly,” Said the boy.
We carried Katie to the nurse instead, since it was closer. “Now the fainting girl is bringing in her friend with the new boy,” Said the nurse, very unhappily. What’s that supposed to mean, I thought. We put Katie on the bed I was on earlier. “So, what happened this time?” Asked the nurse. We explained the whole scene to her, but she didn’t seem to believe us. The boy and I left the nurse to call Katie’s parents.
He walked right next to me without saying a word. I felt like he was someone I should stay away from though, so I walked quite a distance from him. But he always tried to get closer. After a while I just burst out, “Will you give me a little space!” He looked sad for a moment, but then he just walked off. I felt so much better when he was gone.
I continued to walk home, but I felt more alert. Today was the weirdest day of school ever. I saw my house. It was in the middle of some woods, which made me feel nervous at night. I saw all the little birds in the tree by my bedroom. I walked up to the front door and tried to turn the knob. But it was locked. “Mom must not be home yet” I said to no one in particular. I started to take of my backpack, but I froze in place when I felt a presence behind me.
I turned around and saw a squirrel sitting behind me. “Oh, it’s just a squirrel. Calm down now,” I whispered to myself. I finally got my keys out and unlocked the door.
My parents and I might lie in some woods, but we had a house like e lived in a city. The living room had a white couch, a glass coffee table, and a big television. I continued on from the living room into a narrow hallway. I found my door and opened it. My room was a little different from what you might expect.
