Chapter 1
I press myself flat against the cold marble floor under the fallen Greek architect pillar. I grab out my automatic paintball rifle and load seven paintballs into it. My ear piece beeps and I set my rifle aside and press a small button upon my wristband.
“Eagle Eye, are you there?” A voice fills my head. I wait a few minutes, checking all around me before I reply in a quiet voice,
“Eagle Eye here, go ahead.” There is some static and then,
“This is Red Panda, we have clankers sited. They are about 30 meters North East from you and total count is six. Do you want them to be…um…taken out?” The voice asks. I hear what sounds like a metal piece smacking against the marble floor and I tense. My hand instinctively reaches for my rifle and then I see a little mouse streak across the floor. Dang it, it sprang my trap.
“Eagle Eye, what’s wrong?” The voice asks anxiously.
“Kanaye, lock and load. Sic them boys,” I reply, using his real name. I hear some excited whispering in the back ground.
“Red Panda over and out,” Kanaye says and the line turns to static. I tap the button again and my ear piece turns off. I reach behind me and take out glasses from my back pocket. Placing them over my eyes, I blink fast four times and they come to life. The white lenses turn to black and green numbers begin to appear.
“Number 4,” I whisper. For a few moments, the lenses to me seem to be going through space at light speed and then another menu pops up. This one has red words instead of green numbers. I look up and down the rows, looking for the one I need. I finally find it after telling the glasses to scroll down.
“Map, Hotel Realm, red film, all floors,” The words break down into little specks and then they turn into a 3d scale of the 5 story hotel. About 16 dots appear-10 red and 6 blue-which are distributed oddly all over the building. I whisper 3rd floor and then it’s the only one I see. Six red dots and 3 blue dots are on this level. The three blue dots are me, Kanaye and his friend Momura. I check the red dots’ position, about 3 rooms north east from where I am. Then four dots disappear abruptly and I smile proudly. The other two dots dash towards me. Perfect, I at least get to have some fun. In one fluid movement I put away my glasses and look down the scope of my rifle, ready to fire. I close my eyes, listening and then footsteps echo into the lobby. I look to my left and see two men, both dressed in black with bullet proof vests.
I slowly shrink back into the shadows like a tiger waiting for its’ prey in the tall grass. Quietly I line the dot in the scope with the chest of one of the men. I pull the trigger and the man is soon covered in purple paint. He cusses loudly and starts to walk away while his buddy starts frantically checking around. I fire and red paint splatters his face. I stifle a laugh and he yells in anger. As he disappears from sight I put the safety on and turn on my ear piece.
“Lone Wolf,” I say standing up, griping the rifle tightly.
“Lone Wolf here,” A man’s voice answers.
“This is Trisha, have the other clankers been taken out, Masakuza?” I ask. I hear a rifle shot and then a grunt.
“Hold on,” He says. I click my tongue impatiently and then he says,
“According to the glasses they have been all taken out and oh yeah, two of ours were too.”
“Well at least that is better than last time where all of our men were taken out.” I say. He growls and I turn off my ear piece. I turn around; a rifle muzzle is pointed at my head, holding it is, my father.
“Bang, if I were an enemy, you would be dead now. You can’t just rely on the glasses.” He tells me. I sigh and then I see yellow paint on his vest.
“Who shot you?” I ask, trying to keep down a bragging sort of comment.
“Your buddy Kanaye actually took me out.” He says quietly dropping the gun to his side and breaking eye contact with me. I break out laughing,
“Looks like you owe someone money.” I say holding out my hand. I smile at him and he rolls his eyes, reaching into his pocket. He pulls out a twenty and places it in my out-stretched hand.
“Never again will I make a bet with my own daughter,” He promises placing his arm around me.
“I’ll hold you to that,” I laugh, knowing that the promise will be broken in the next day or two.
