• “I’m sorry Kevin I’m leaving.” Okay maybe I should back it up. It was two weeks before graduation and I had a big secret that I was keeping from everyone. I was moving. Not just anywhere but back to Salem. I kept telling my friends and Kevin it was a surprise and they would find out after graduation. But I was leaving the day after. I didnt know what to do. I didnt want to hurt anyone’s feelings, especially Kev’s. Kevin and I had been going out for a few months now. After everything that happened with Jake earlier in the year, he was really protective of me. Too protective.
“Come on tell me please Mandy?”pleaded Kevin one day after school as we walked home.
“Kevin you cant wait two weeks?”I asked surprised. Kevin almost never wanted to ruin a surprise.
“No I cant Mandy! Please? Just a hint?”asked Kevin desperately.
“It involves boxes.”I hinted with a giggle.
“Boxes? That’s my hint? Oh this will take a few weeks!”
“Well you wanted a hint and I gave it to you. Plus why cant you just wait till after graduation?”I asked curiously.
“Because this is our last year of middle school. Next year we will be in highschool! You may be going to the Tech and I may be going to the highschool here. Please Mandy can you tell me?”
“No. Kevin it is a big, and I mean big secret.” I said as I looked over to him. He was giving me the ‘please tell me or I wont talk to you’ look. “Kev I cant! Please talk to me.” Stubbornly he shook his head without a word.
“Come on Kevin stop being so stubborn. Your sisters were right.”I said seriously. Nothing came from Kevin as we kept walking along. “Please talk Kev! You know I miss your voice when you do this to me. Please talk. Please?” Oh god now I was pleading.
“Fine. I guess I wont tell you after all.”I finally said walking ahead of him.
“Okay, I’ll stop. Now will you tell me?”he asked.
“Uh... no Kevin you’ll find out soon.”
“Not soon enough.”he muttered under his breath as we got to the door.
“I’ll see you tomorrow. Seven o’clock?”I asked.
“Why do we have to go so early Mandy? It’s just two weeks away we know it perfectly!”complained Kevin.
“Yes but Kevin Mrs. Dana wants us to go so we have it perfectly perfect.”I replied. The play was in two weeks. Kevin and I had the biggest parts too. He was Mike.
