    Part One

I sat in the small area of the fireplace. My eyes were shut tight, my knees pulled to my chest, and my arms wrapped around them. I shivered and pulled my knees in closer to my body as the "POP" from the vampyre's fangs punctured the skin on my mother's jugular. The slight "swish" of the blood made silent tears break through the barrier I was fighting to keep up. As the lifeless body, of what used to be my mother, thumped to the floor I opened my eyes. The blurred vampyre stalked closer. I opened my mouth to scream, but only a puff of air streamed out. She chuckled.

The soft "pit-pat" of her bare feet on the livingroom's oak wood floor made time stop. Yet clocks still made the ticktock seconds go by. I scraped my feet on the cool stone of the fireplace floor trying, unsuccesfully, to get away and dissapear from the creature forever.

The ashes were floating around me. All I could see was a vague sillouhette of the vampyre. It swiftly moved into a crouch and bared it's fangs.

She chuckled again and the sound echoed through the hallow fireplace. The sound was melancholy and bitter. She hissed low and dangerous as she lunged at me.

I screamed. My heart was racing and a cold sweat broke out on my face. I got goosebumps. Breathing heavily I clutched my fist in the air above my heart in a sad attempt to slow my speeding pulse. I looked at my alarm clock and noticed that it was noon. "Gah, I hate it when my nightmares wake me in the middle of the day." I mumbled, growled, and hissed the words at the same time.

Luckily the scream didn't wake up Izbee, man she was a heavy sleeper.

Izbee's my roommate, her full name is Izabelle Mason. She's one of those people who just don't know when to shut up. She's so oblivious. She is extremely beautiful, what with her long red hair that fell halfway down her back in perfect ringlets. Her bangs were pushed over her right eye and her face was petite and doll-like. She had big brown, almost black, eyes that seemed to never end.

She stirred and groaned then turned over, crushing some of the ringlets. Poor ringlets. I then let out a sigh that I didn't know I was holding. I lay down and went back to sleep, although it took a while. I didn't want to have a nightmare again.
