    Chapter Five

It had been about a month after Kire and I decided to be friends, when Asher came into the picture. Picture a 6’0” male with blood red hair that trailed down his back. Piercing blue eyes that looked right through your soul when he looking into your eyes. With the body of a swimmer, and the language of a romantic. Yeah, that was Asher my first love.
I walked down the hall with Kire, Soran, and Sarai. That’s when I spotted him next to my locker. He was leaning up against them watching the crowds as they passed. I stopped quickly to find an exit. I couldn’t start to talk to him now, not after what had happened between us.
He looked at me and smiled. “Rayne, how have you been?” He asked walked up to me holding out his hand.
I placed mine in his as a habit.
He kissed it softly and rolled his eyes up to look at me. “May I say you are quite beautiful?” He said with a gentleman smile.
I heard a low growl beside me. I quickly looked up at Kire and fixated my eyes on him.
He looked at me and forced a smile. “Well,” He started through gritted teeth. “Aren’t you going to introduce us to your friend?” He asked.
I nodded quickly. Was he jealous? Not that couldn’t be we clearly established that we were to only be friends. Or at least I did. I looked back down at Asher and smiled childishly like I used to when he looked at me. “This is-.”
“No,” He broke into my introduction. “Let me introduce myself.” He looked at my group of friends and bowed a full out bow.
“What the hell.” Kire whispered. “Who does this guy think he is?” He hissed.
“My name is Asher Orion.” He pulled me closer to him and smiled. “I am here for the fare maiden’s hand.” He said with a chuckle.
Kire growled louder as I looked back at him. He had a look on his face that frightened me. “What are you talking about? We are still in high school.”
I nodded. “Besides what are you doing here?” I asked looking up at him. “Mother didn’t tell me about your arrival, I thought you were still in France modeling.” I asked.
He looked at me and smiled. “Your mother had a feeling that you were going to break our promise because you were falling in love with a man that wasn’t right for your stature,”
    Kire growled again.
I looked back at him and pushed Asher away, “I think we need to talk in private, you are not going to be able to tell me anything out here.” I whispered so low that I knew he could hear me but no one else could.

Asher held my hand as we walked into the courtyard outside of the school. “So why are you here?” I asked looked up at him. “Did my mother really send for you?” I asked.
Asher nodded and smiled. “She said that she thought you were old enough to meet your prince charming.” He stopped and pulled my hand up to his lips. “Me,”
I shook my head. “Did she forget to mention that I never wanted to do this arranged marriage in the first place?”
He smiled at me. “She mentioned it.” He sat quickly on a bench pulling me down on his lap. “But I knew if I saw you again that we would fall in love.” He smiled.
I shook my head and tried to get up but I knew that it was useless.

Kire watched from the window as he leaned up against it. “Who the hell does he think he is?” he growled.
Sarai came from behind him with a juice box in her mouth. “His name is Asher Orion.” She said as if it simulated something in Kire’s mind.
“You mean Orion as in Orion records?” Kire hissed. “That Orion, are you sure?”
Kire asked looking back down at him. “Ugh,”
Sarai nodded. “Their parents decided this long ago since they first met in junior high.” She explained. “They went out for a little while; I would say that they fell in love. But once the parents decided to make a big deal about it they broke it off.”
Kire turned and looked at Sarai. “So they were once in love?”
“Yeah.” She said taking a deep breath. “She told me the story a long time ago.”
“When she was in seventh and he was in eighth they met by chance. She was in the swimming club and he was in the kendo club. Their friends were already dating and they wanted some once else to come along with them on one of their dates.”
“So they got set up.” Kire interrupted.
Sarai looked at him and pushed her blonde hair behind her ear. “Yeah, they went to the movies, the other couple was making out and they just started to talk. Now Rayne wasn’t Miss popular, like Asher was. But, they got along like nothing else. They ended up dating far into her 10th grade. That’s when their families started to make a big fuss out of it. That frightened Rayne like nothing else and she ended up running away to my house.”
“Wait, 10th grade that was about four months ago. So she was going out with him when she met me.” Kire questioned.
“That’s right.” Sarai added. “She didn’t want to fall in love with another ‘popular’ guy. She had enough of them.”
“That’s why she just wanted to be friends.” Kire said looking away.
“Yeah.” Sarai placed her hand on Kire’s shoulder and smiled. “I think it’s because she was still in love with Asher there.” She said pointing with her juice box.

“Asher seriously, that’s awesome. Well not about your father dyeing, but you finally get to go for your dream.” I said smiling at him.
Asher nodded. “Yeah, father always wanted me to take over the records, so I am glad that I get to do that and go to school.”
I looked at him and got up. He looked so much like the old Asher that it killed my heart. “Asher, I think that it’s best if you leave.” I said as I started to walk away. “I don’t think I could stand my heart being broken twice by you.” I whispered.
Asher stood up and shook his head. He grabbed my hand and twirled me around. He looked down at me with his ghastly blue eyes and smiled. “I vow that I will never hurt you again.” He said touching the side of my face. “Would you just trust me?” He asked pushing his lips softly against mine.

Kire growled as he saw this scene. “Looks like they reconciled things,”
Sarai nodded. “As if they were meant to be,” Sarai stood in front of Kire. “Well since she is now taken do you want to go out with me?” she asked placing her hand on Kire’s cheek. “I’m a great rebound.” She said as she stood on her tip toes and kissed him.
