• She reached towards the shy, simple sky gripping the wind as it gently scrapped and tickled her insipid fingers. This was her time. Her time to admire the burgundy leaves wisp swiftly across the ginger heaven. The breeze felt pleasant on her fingers. She just wanted to reach out and grasp the universe, or at least one of the red leaves. She elevated her slim torso, forcing her arm to extend towards the floating leaves. Alas she wedged a leaf between her fingers and fell back upon the pile of brown foliage. The leaf was delicate. Her amber eyes dove into the slight details. This leaf was different. It was brighter; more dazzling then the majority of the auburn speckles drifting along the autumn breeze.

She felt the waft scrap her face. Her lids became profound. She let her mind soar, accompanying the flora; clutching the maleficent leaf to her slumbering heart…

She was awoken by the light filtered by the burgundy tree; its shadow cast upon her. Dusk. It was late. She placed her hand on her head and felt the moist, thick liquid seep from her skull. She flinch at the site of her bleeding head and thumped her palm at the source. She was alone. She felt the shadows of every tree on her silhouette covering her pale body in blankets of darkness. Her hands trembled and like electricity itself, felt the voltage crawled down her spine. She decided to arise, before the shadows completely consumed her pastel skin. Still applying pressure to her skull, she noticed the sky. It was no longer the warm burgundy she fell in love with. It was coal gray. Every scorching color was replaced by their fridge monochrome insignia. Her eyes watered. She closed them producing a single tear that cascaded down her smooth cheek. She clutched the leaf and walked into the nightmare wonderland.
