    Chapter I: Midnight Civilization

The midnight breeze blew past along the vampire filled streets of Hemia. It was strange to see such a little town being so much festive every night. Vampires and Hosts kept their peace, away from the forsaken world of sunlight where Humans existed.

They have enjoyed such harmony in life without exposing themselves to Humans. Encampments, little towns and cities all covered by magical fog in the morning and basking from the pale moonlight at night. A perfect place to raise a decent Vampire family...

Though Hemia's atmosphere was nearly perfect... unexpected things are meant to occur even at the most little chances...

This story is about a teenage girl, first born and only child of the Rosewood family going on by the name of Elle. She was an adorable little girl, long and smooth golden hair paired with sky blue eyes, that was too much heavenly for a vampire to possess. She seemed nearly much normal in every aspect... except for a well hidden secret.

"Elle! For how long do you intend to make your dear mother suffer?" whined Keira Rosewood, Elle's mother. A well respected citizen of Hemia and a high-ranking member of the Vampire council. She had been bothered by her daughter's dislike of blood for more than thirteen years now.

"Mother... I really do not wish to drink blood. Why do vampires even have the need to drink blood?" asked Elle, trying to pry herself away from her beloved mother's request.

"If vampires do not drink blood! All of us should have been extinct by now?" explained Keira, pretty much saddened that her daughter raises these questions again and again. "We do not need to feel remorse or shame in our actions. Vampires do not drink human blood anymore... that is why hosts exist in this world! They were by nature to supply our needs and we in turn give them the needed payment."

"What do you want me to do so that I can make you stop convincing me mother?" asked Elle, showing signs that she would leave the house soon to cool the tension down. She did not want to hurt her mother's feelings... but she just can't break her honor.

"Very well then..." sighed Keira, opening the windows to let the pale moonlight enter their home. The moon was full and a lot of vampires were outside... getting a little dose of moonlight, fooling around or just looking for hosts to ask for a drink.

"If you can find even a single host out here in Hemia, that does not believe in the vampire and host rule... someone who is not willing to give any vampire a drink of his or her blood... mainly to the fact that he or she believes that hosts are to be considered free of any contract" She turned around to face her daughter. Though she only saw the door close shut as Elle ran outside to start her search.

(Some notes: "Hosts" are not forced by Vampires to let them drink their blood. This story implies a rule created for Host and Vampire rights.

Vampires need to offer something to the Hosts to let them drink blood.

Hosts let Vampires drink their blood in exchange for something they ask.

Hosts regenerate blood faster than humans so they don't literally die from blood loss. Unless if they lost all of their blood in the process.

It is basically a trade between the two and both of them benefit from it.)
