• I was running down the stairs. I was crying, blood stain on my dress. It was December 24, 2008 when it happened. It was a very dreadful happening.

December 18, 2008, Saturday; I was listening to our teacher when Jacob tapped my back and asked “Can we meet later?”
    “Where” I asked
“In the field underneath the apple tree, that would be our meeting place.” He said, and then he went back to his seat.
I was scared yet excited about the things he will say. The bell rang and everyone is leaving except for me.

When I arrived under the apple tree, I saw him sitting on a big rock. He stood up and approached me.
    “Why were you late?”
“I’m not late; you didn’t tell me the time.” We were both silenced. We headed to the big rock and sat there for few minutes without talking to each other.
“So, what’s up?” I asked him
“There is something I have to tell you.”
“Just go straight to the point.” I said impatiently, I was nervous that time that I wanted to know what’s going on.
    “Will you marry me?”
    “What?!” I asked him, shocked.
“I mean if I asked you to marry me in the right time, will you?”
    “I’m not sure, I don’t know.”
“Please tell me.” He stood up and knelt in front of me; he took out a small box and opened it. It was a handmade bracelet.
“I made it for you, hope you’ll like it.” He said as he stood up and gave the bracelet to me. I was touched that time that I wanted to cry but something’s stopping me.
“Thanks, I really appreciated it.” I said as I stood up and hugged him.
“So, do you have any plans this summer?” he asked
    “Not really, you?”
“I just had a great idea!” he said as he asked me to sit down.
“We will have a bonding. The whole week, you and me.” I was happy to hear his plan but I know something was wrong.
“Sure!” I said, excited about his plans
“Okay, here’s the schedule for the next, next week, on Monday, we will have a tour at the new resort. On Tuesday, we’ll have a rock climbing. On Wednesday, we will watch a band concert. On Thursday, we’ll watch 5 movies, all the movies you want! On Friday, we’ll go to the new museum you wanted. Then on Saturday, we’ll have a candlelight dinner and watch the stars. What do you think?” I was so amazed and excited about his plans.
“Sure, it’ a date then!” I said, and then I stood up and hugged him.

It was the happiest week in my whole life, a week with Jacob, it was really unexpected but fun. I never really imagined him doing things like that, rock climbing even though he’s afraid of heights, singing in front of the crowd though his voice is not that pleasing and appreciating the paintings of famous artists though he hates museums. It was the best week of my vacation. At last it was Saturday, the night we were waiting for. I was so excited, I was fixing my hair when my mom called me downstairs; I went down and saw him waiting for me. I said good bye to my mom and both of us went off. When we arrived at the venue, everything was perfect and romantic, I never expected him to prepare this much.
He escorted me to my seat then we started to eat. We talked and eat the whole time until our stomach was very full. Then we decided to lie down on the grass and watched the stars.
After few minutes, I fell asleep without even noticing.

When I woke up, I looked at my watch, it was almost 12am. I stood up and looked for Jacob, but he was not here. I ran and searched everywhere, but he was nowhere to be found. Then I decided to go knock on the male’s locker room, but no one’s opening it. I tried to turn the knob but it was lock. So I went upstairs and tried the male’s CR. No one’s opening it so I opened it and I saw him there on the sink, vomiting blood. I ran towards him and asked
“What happened? What’s going on?!” he didn’t reply until he fell on the floor and whispered to me, “I’m sorry, and I love you.” For the first time in front of him, tears fell from my face. This was the first time I heard these three words from him, and this will be the last.

I was running down the stairs. I was crying, blood stain on my dress. I called the emergency and told them to hurry up. I ran to get my bag and took out the box with the bracelet he gave me. I removed the bracelet and the foam as he told me. It was hard to remove the foam until I decided to turn the box upside-down and removed the seal. When I opened it, I was shocked; it was a real silver ring. I took the ring and cried as I read the words that was written on it “I’ll always be the ring you could wear anytime – Jacob”
He was expecting this to happen, and he knows that a simple bracelet and a ring are not enough, but the memories that he will leave will always stay in my heart.
