• The moon shone in the lake as Sherenia cried in her misery.
"Why... why..." She whispered as more tears ran down her face. "Why..." She repeated. The rusty bars stopped most of the moon's light from coming into the dungeon but Sherenia still still tried to hide from it in her desolated corner.
    Drip, drip, drip
Trickles of water ran down the mouldy wall and some trickled onto the floor. The cold surrounded Sherenia in every direction and loneliness ached in her heart. Every thought of Leo made her sobs louder and clearer in the night.

"Father! Please !" Leo cried out, begging his father.
"Leo! You cannot love a servant such as her!" His father's rage was all Leo could see in him. He had broken a rule and there was nothing he could do about it. If he tried to break Sherenia out, then he would join her in her execution.
Save one's life and give your own. One of the books he read had said. Leo made his mind. He loved Sherenia and wanted her to always be free from pain... always.
"Father," Leo whispered once more. "Free her... and take my life." His father's face turned from bright red to white. He made a choking sound before he could speak.
"Leo. No." He murmured. "You cannot surely..." His voice trailed off. He could see that Leo truly loved Sherenia, and always will. With a pained thrum of his heart, he accepted.
    "If you must."

Sherenia's sobs turned to silence, like a cloak had fallen over it. She sat, arms around her legs, thinking of the time when they had kissed. It was the most happiest time Sherenia had ever experienced. 'Maybe I will feel that kind of happiness when I ascend for heaven' Sherenia thought with a tweak of happiness. Suddenly, she heard something, not totally, unfamiliar. It wasn't the dripping of the water, or the howls of the wolves, but it was more of single clicking sound.
"By the order of prince Leo, you are free." A voice boomed from the door. Sherenia wearily turned her head. She locked confused gazes at the guard.
"By Who?" She asked, unfolding her legs and gradually standing up.
"By Prince Leo." The guard said again.
"In exchange for Whose life?" She asked, not hesitating to walk to the door.
"Prince Leo." He said again. Sherenia froze in mid stride to the door. Her ears twitched. She swore she heard his name.
"Excuse... me?" She asked one more time, baffled.
"Prince Leo." The guards face was almost grave. Sherenia couldn't believe what she was hearing. Shear fear just came over her... Shear fear, pain and misery.

"Leo." She whispered as she entered his room. He turned around in his formal knight's uniform.
"Sherenia?" Leo's voice was of relief. They ran, bawling their eyes out.
"Ple-please tell me your not going to d-" Sherenia stuttered.
"No. It's for your own good." Leo interrupted, whilst he held her closer to him. Sherenia pulled away, looking at his sky blue eyes and his dark brown hair once more.
"Please don't leave me." She asked.
"I have to do this." He said, holding her face with both hands. He indulged in Sherenia's beauty for the last time. Her hazel green eyes, red from crying. Her bright plump lips and her snow white, silky hair, not an inch of dirt on it.
And as they enjoyed their last moment together...
They finished it off with a passionate kiss...
