• I’ve never gotten James. He’d tell me, when I was hurt or crying that my heart lacked color so, into the night, he’d shoot an arrow, full of bright colors, into my veins to travel through out my body; just to give me color. I’d smile and say it’s not possible and he’d always say, “Paige, anything possible, even if it lacks evidence.” I’d smile and hug him for cheering me up. James was the only imaginative person in this excuse of a school. I’d tell him I swore that seventy-five percent of his body is made of a rainbow. He’d smile and say “Anything’s possible”.

James was dressed into his usual clothes. Baggy charcoal sweatshirt, and ripped light blue pants. He smiled and waved me over to help him with his rainbow collection.
“Paige,” He said. He caught the edge of his breath when he said my name. “I caught another rainbow; tonight I’m going t give you a rainbow arrow just in case.”
I smiled. James was so amazing. I loved him like a brother…I think. James fiddled with his rainbows. He had models, pictures, drawings, pottery, anything you can think of sculpted, drawn, painted, or carved into rainbows. James was so unique. He looked up at me, with his hazel-green eyes, and smiled.
“What? You staring at my eyes again?” He said teasingly.
I blushed and bit my lips. Damn it, I was doing it again.
“Oh don’t worry. I stare at you eyes too.” He looked deeply into my eyes then said, “That beautiful shade of blue you have; it suits you.”
He went back to work carving a rainbow out of an eraser. I bit my lip. What’s wrong with me today? It was normal James and I hope, normal me. Another day. Another day with my…friend. Why did I hate calling him a friend? A brother? Did I want…more? More than a brother, or a friend? I trembled. Did I love James? I did. I’m bitten by the dreaded teenage love bug. I sighed.
“Paige can I tell you something?” James said. He stared to shiver violently. I lifted an eyebrow.
“First can I say something? Tell me James, do you wished you’d fall in…love?”
James went quiet and set the eraser down.
“Yes Paige I do. With the most beautiful girl. One with light brown hair and beautiful shade of blue eyes.”
He was talking about me. My heart skipped a beat. Out of all the girls in the world all the trillions of women and the millions of beautiful girls he could have pick out he loved me. I felt myself blush and I hid my face in his sweatshirt.
“I love you James." I said gripping his sweatshirt.
"I love you Paige" He said holding me like this was our last moment together.
