• CHAPTER 1-The Breakup

Head pounding, body aching, the sweet embrace of a wonderful dream being pushed away by constant beeping. It must be 6:00. I rush out to meet a bus about ready to drive away but I flag it down and it comes to squeaky stop. I climb up the dirty stairs and try to avoid touching the scuzzy walls. "Mornin' " said the bus driver. I didn't acknowledge him, he was even filthier than the bus. "Hey Attila!" cried Kruren, I ignored him, he called me Attila because of my often violent nature. If I didn't restrain myself, I would have hit him square in the nose.
"Akira! Over here!" Echo slammed her hand onto the seat beside her. Echo's parents named her after the Mythological Greek character who wasted away over Narcissus. Her parents must have had an insight of the future because Echo never stops talking about one guy or the other. Me, on the other hand, am in a boring relationship with a guy I don't even like that much. "Soooo..." She giggled.
"Sooo?" I said back, checking my bag to make sure I didn't forget a lunch again.
"Dump Kevin." She said flatly. She alone knew that I didn't like Kevin, and was always making me regret the decision of telling her.
"I was actually thinking about that last night." I said emotionlessly.
    "Aaaaand?" Echo is very impatient.
    "And I will. Today."
Echo looked as if she was going to faint with relief as she hugged me. And Echo doesn't hug alot. She moved into the country about... Six months ago with her odd black hair and beautiful blue eyes. All of the guys fell head over heels for her. Including Kevin.
"I knew this was going to happen someday! I'm so proud of you!" She hugged me again, even harder this time an I laughed, which I don't do alot.
"I'm just dumping a guy I've been dating awhile, it's not that big a deal, Echo dear."
"Yes, it is!" Echo insists, shaking her perfect little head, "Kevin is an evil alien from outer space or something! I hate him!!!"
"He is not! Please stop saying that, Echo! You know how much it buugs me." She gave me a look that said something along the lines You'll-never-understand-forget-it . But I ignored her, she was a fabulous actress.
The rest of the of the bus ride was spent talking about Echo's most current boyfriend, Gino. She was also eyeing Jean LaCourse, the French foreign exchange student. Traditionally, she would fling with him before he left, but Gino was very protective if she so much as glanced at another man... Or, should I say, male teenager. Not that it matters, but I thought that she should dump Gino, he was never much of a guy anyway.
The bus screeched to a sudden stop and sending myself and Echo screaming, followed by our laughter. I jumped off the bus, my boots thunking on the pavement. Giggling we splashed in a puddle and jumped into the school yard. "Seriously, though," Echo looked at me, "Now. Kevin. Okay?" I nod, knowing thos had better happen sooner rather than later, I walked over to the bunch of soccer jocks by the field, "Hey, Kevin." I saod and and he put his arm around me, "Uh... Kevin," I took his hand off my shoulder, "Can I talk to you... Privately?"
"Sure, baby," We walked over to the pavement and he put his arm around my waist, and I sighed, he just didn't get it.
"Kevin, I don't think this is working out."
"Baby, if you don't like my arm around your.-"
"No, Kevin," this was getting frustrating, "What I mean is..."
"Well, just spit it out already!" He was getting frustrated too.
"I just don't think this relationship is working," I kiss my shocked ex on the cheek, "Goodbye Kevin." A tear rolled down my cheek, I suppose I would miss him, but only a little.
He turned to me, I could see he was seething anger, should I really have done this?
"Kevin," a voice soothed him, it was Echo, "Cool it, okay? You don't need this, right?" Kevin yelled something back, I walked away, not needing this right now.
