• Pushed to the ground, I screamed. Terror struck in her eyes. She smiled, looking as she was saying, “Who is it know? Who is useless now!” She struck me in the throat. Or that’s what I thought. Stabbed in the back, Iris lied. She was flat on the ground. I turned to see this masked villain. A blood streak down his face, Sage stood. My jaw dropped seeing as the man I love, kill my archenemy.
“Sage, Why in god’s name-” I cried.
“No... This was my doing.” He said seriously.
2 years ago, me, (Shay) my two best friends: Choco, and Mia, and Sage all went to camp. Choco and I found 2 sticks. As a joke, we pretended they were ‘magical’ swords.
“Ah-ha!” I said as I pretended to slice the tree in half.
The tree snapped like a twig. My jaw dropped. Two odd creatures flew from above.
    “Sia.” The one whispered.
    “Nala!” The other one giggled.
“I am your soul,” Nala giggled once again, “You are a strong one, containing: Berry Bell, Hollie, MeiMei, Sufi, Pizzicato, Amethyst Dream, and Lazuli Lampicka. Truly amazing!”
“First of all. WHAT THE HELL!!” I screamed.
“You will defend the world; there are 8 others like you (the dead eight). Chase, Naomi, Joshua, Jun, Misa, Iris, Andrew and Lulu. All of you are fighting to become well... Fighting to stay alive.” Sia spoke again.
My jaw dropped. I turned to see Choco. Jaw dropped as well.
“No why in hell we’re doing this!” Choco shouted.
“Yeah, I’m with Choco on this!” I yelled, “Hell this is just a dream!”
“Those sticks (swords) will help you. Shay’s is stronger, because of her confidence .” Nala giggled, “Sage-kun, Mia-Chan. Here are your sticks.”
“Hell no. I’m so not fighting against my friends.” Sage spoke.
“I’m not gonna either!!” Mia said in terror.
“Mia-Chan. You have to, Sage-kun.. You too...” Sia said, “You will die if you don’t...”
Two sticks appeared before them. Also two creatures.
“Shawn,” One creature said, “Charmed, I’m sure. You are my master, Sage-kun,”
“Yaya!” A cute little creature smiled, “Hiya, Mia-Chan! I’m your guardian! Yaya-Chan!”
Guardian? What the hell? I’m dreaming... Aren’t I?
I screamed, awakening in my bed. I noticed I was drooling. Yuck. I turned to my clock to see the time. One more scream later, Nala slept. She had created a bed.
“Oh my god... So much for a DREAM!” I shouted.
    Nala yawned “What?”
“No, no this can’t be happening... Maybe I FAINTED! Yeah that’s right, or I’m in a coma! Yes, yes all amazing ideas...” I said.
Nala stared, “He, he. This is entertaining. Where’s my popcorn. Why can’t you just get over the fact that you have magical POWERS! Anyone would want powers. Everyone dreams of fighting beast, or getting saved by the prince!” Nala sniffed, “Why’d He pick me...”
“Who’s he?” I asked. I was thinking the answer was God.
“Master. He has no name, not that we know of.” Nala growled, “Arrgh! I get picked and you act like this! All because of Sa- Never mind...”
“Sa- as in... SAGE!” I screamed. “I DON’T LIKE HIM!”
    “He, he...” Nala giggled.
That morning was filled with questions. I wondered why? Why my friends. I sighed so many times during class. That morning, I felt something or someone tickle my leg. It was Nala. I stuffed her in my bag. Choco starred, she was trying to lip something to me.
“Shay Lyn, can you explain?” Mr. Madison questioned.
    “Nothing!” I replied quickly.
“Do we have a rule breaker? Another pet?” He asked again, “Just like Mr. Sage Andrews. Just like his community work. 500 hours?” He walked silently up to my bag, grabbing it as I didn’t have time to explain.
“WAIT!” Choco stood up. Embarrassment filled deeply in her eyes. Everyone looked.
“Hm?” Mr. Madison didn’t care much for Choco. “Nothing.” Mr. M walked away, as I wondered what just happened.
Nala jumped on my desk as my jaw dropped. “It’s OKAY!” She explained. “Me and Sia can go unseen,” She said cheerfully as usual. “Yaya can too!”
Now you tell me... I thought. Nala stood up, as if she heard it.
“One more thing. I can hear all your thoughts!” She winked.
Is there no way to get away from them?!
The next morning I heard a loud knock. Tried I woke up. I stepped downstairs, which felt like 10 minutes. A little blue box sat at my door. TO: SHAY HOLLIE. There was no saying of who it was from. But, luckily I would know that writing from anywhere. Sage. The box started to shake. What the hell? I thought to myself. Pitter Patter came from down the stairs. Little annoying foot steps. Nala came down in panic. She ripped open the blue box. “Nala, Nala calm down it’s a box from Sage! Nothing to worry.” I said soothingly. All I heard was silence. Something, popped out, Shawn? Sage’s guardian? He took a huge breath as if he was being downed. “What happened?!” I asked.
The story was, Sage was pissed. He hated Shawn. He even called him “Piece of devil s**t,” or “s**t from hell.” We feed Shawn and returned him to Sage, telling Sage that he’s a part of you. Like it or not he’s always gonna be with you.
That night we had a massive party planed. Guests included, Sage, Choco, Mia, Yaya, Sia, Nala, and Shawn. Also the place was public, it was called Warehouse IV. It was a club for kids. The guy who owned it was my uncle. Thank god cause there’s no way I could go without him being there. Nala looked up, as if she saw a ghost. Yaya, Sia, and Shawn were partying. But not Nala, weird because Nala’s usually the one who won’t shut the hell up. Then the hottest guy walked up to me.
“Josh.” He said. “I noticed you were where a H.E.V. ADDICTIVE t-shirt, bag, and skirt.” My favourite store, why would he be asked about that? Then the newest song and my favourite Say Aha by Santogold came on. My foot started tapped. Josh twirled me to the center of the dance floor as if I was his princess. Sage looked jealous, I knew he liked me but he’s not my type.
Sage tapped, both Mia and Choco’s, shoulder. He whispered something and then Josh kissed me. Trapped in his appeal I couldn’t do anything. Next he twirled me to the corner. Luckily my uncle was serving drinks and didn’t notice us. Next thing I knew we were out in the cold. “Shay, beware.” He whispered gently into my ear.
“SHAY!” Nala’s sweet voice yelled. “HE’S ONE OF THE EIGHT-”
Then I knew. This Josh what Joshua from the dead eight. The eight we are set out to kill. I couldn’t hear Nala anymore. Then Josh transformed into what I thought was his guardian. He had an axe like the grim reaper pointed at my neck.
“Useless.” Someone said. Then I noticed Nala in her palms. In panic for Nala I escaped Josh’s chains. Then next to the night sky appeared a bright light. She stood next to me. It was a guardian. I thought it was the girl who was holding Nala’s guardian. The girl holding Nala’s jaw opened to the floor. “No way has she had two!” She screamed.
Nala escaped from her chains, and greeted this new character. From behind both Josh and Nala’s capturer two little guardians came from hiding. “Iris, this isn’t safe!” Iris’ guardian whispered.
“Nana, she doesn’t even know that it’s her guardian!!” Iris yelled softly.
Josh’s guardian came towards me, Nala and my (apparent) new guardian. “Joel! Stay away!” Josh screamed for his guardian.
She turned towards me. “By the way, I’m Connor.” My new guardian said.
Josh wasn’t transformed anymore. Sage, Mia and Choco ran towards us with there guardians. “Who is this?” Choco asked.
“Connor my new guardian.” I said.
“Enough. This is not how it happens!” Iris screamed. “Nana! TRANSFORM!” Iris turned towards us. She was beautiful, in a scary way. “Die.” She whispered.
Connor turned towards Nala and whispered “To big for just one soul.”
Nala turned towards me. “Trust me.” I turned into what felt beautiful, I looked just like Nala. I had a sword to plus up everything. I wasn’t planning to slice any ones head, but I could do damage. I pointed it straight at Iris.
“Pizzicato!” I screamed as bolts of light came from my sword hitting Iris. Iris’s transformation undid. I looked Iris in the eye and said “Useless.” As I said it, I felt the power. I felt strong and superior for once in my life.
“What... Do you... Want, Kolke?” Iris said recklessly. I didn’t really know what it was, but I wanted to sound like I was on a mission.
“Funny you ask, how do you even know what Kolke is!? And how do you have it,” I asked, not really knowing what it was, but I was still playing it cool.
“Andrew,” She whispered. As in the dead eight Andrew. “He said, ‘Kolke was a powerful source in which you guardian can share special abilities with you. It acts like a little bag,’” Iris whispered again handed Kolke to me. Weirdly enough I secretly got what Kolke was, out of her.
“Does Andrew know that this is rightfully mine?” I said, “He gave it to me.”
“He? Andrew gave it to you?” Josh asked.
“He as in the master, the creator...” I said superiorly, using the information Nala gave me. Soon enough my uncle screeched for me, in panic. He walked into the misty winter back lot of Warehouse IV.
“SHAY! Holy s**t you’ve been here! Your mom called, said it’s passed your curfew,” my uncle said breathlessly. Suddenly I turned to see Iris and Josh thinking of a way to explain, but instead there was nothing. They left. “Your lucky Shay, you have a great uncle.” He nudged me smiling, “What are you guys doing back here, and playing magic again? You kids always came back here when this was an apartment. Ah” He sighed, “Good ‘old times.”
“Yeah... Ha-ha!” Choco laughed. “Better get going than.”
“You rocked, Shay. Make them scared!” Nala said punching the air. “I like what you did with the ‘creator’, plus as a bonus you got Kolke.”
