• (told from Carlise's perspective)

When my parents suddenly decided that we’re going to spend our summer vacation at grandpa’s farm, I totally freaked out. I mean, I have lots of things I already planned for our supposed-to-be summer vacation in the Bahamas (as my father said months ago).
I remembered what my Mom said the day I knew about the change of plans, “Carlise, you know we promised your grandpa that we would spend our vacation there. You don’t want to break our promise, do you?”.
I could, but there’s nothing more I can do. They made their decision. I should go with whatever they wanted.
The day we arrived to the farm was really terrible. The porch, the house, the barnyard, the bedroom-------all of it! Horrible!!
Then in an instant, a hint of hope suddenly stumbled right from the old wooden door.
There he was. His name is Danny. He’s match cuter than a farm boy (even though he is one). With his black spiky hair, his golden butterscotch eyes and his lips moulded into a perfect smile, I don’t think anyone would call him a farm boy.
Grandpa introduced him quickly to me and my parents. Hmmm…. My parents were quiet fascinated with him too.
I couldn’t sleep that night. The moment his eyes locked into mine, I felt the strange intensity of his stare. Then I knew something was wrong. Terribly wrong.
Morning, I quickly got ready. Though there isn’t much to do around here, I hurried anyway.
I was surprised to see him standing in front of the house, waiting for me. He told me to follow him and I did, though I know I shouldn’t. Its too late to walked away now.
He lead me to a dead oak tree. There, he pulled a small root and the magic began. I gasped as a majestic tunnel arose. He told me to go inside and I did. As we got out of the tunnel, a magnificent place stumbled right of my eyes.
He laughed at my expected amazement. Then I thought about why he showed this place. When he finally spoke , he ask the question that was running inside my mind, like he was reading it. I nodded. He told me I was special and that made me hesitate.
I quickly changed the subject and we babbled all day, never touching that subject again. When we were about to go home, he warned me not to go there alone. I shuddered as he finished the sentence.
That morning I woke surprisingly early. I was so eager to go that place that I completely forgot Danny’s warning.
    Then danger struck.
Inside the tunnel, to the magnificent place which Danny showed me two unknown creatures were there. At first they didn’t notice me hide under the bushes. Then one of them sniffed unto the air; he knew I was there watching them. They chased me until I was out of the tunnel.
To my surprise, Danny was there.
He scowled and reminded me again about the warning. Before I could answer him, one of the creatures leaped out of the tunnel.
He stared at me. Ready to lunge at my throat.
Then Danny cut him off. I was surprised because he knew the creatures name. Marcus. I didn’t know the creature had a name.
It all happened so quickly. The creature got angry as soon as he heard his name. He attacked Danny. I just sat there crying helplessly, as I watched blood coming out of his body. Danny moaned in agony as he reached for a pointed stick on the ground. Then he quickly killed the creature.
He turned to me as he stared at my frightened, tear-stained eyes. He told me to go away and never come back to this place. I obeyed. Numbness ruled over me as I quickly trailed back to the farm. I never told my parents about what happened. I just told I’m sick of this place and I cant stand another minute in here. They followed, still shocked by my reaction. I obeyed every word Danny said in our last confrontation. Never come back.
