• Under the large tree, was a tiny cardboard box. It was ragged and old. Yokume had kept it for years. Inside were memories of the past. And all memories...were full of sorrow.
    Yokume sat under the tree. She opened the small box. Yokume looked at the contents. There was the old clay pendant that she had made. And tiny figurines from long ago. Then, there were the recent things, a snowflake necklace, her yearbook and other new items. The box seemed full.
    Yokume paid no attention to the newer things. She grabbed an origami flower out of the corner of the box. Her mother had made it herself. All of Yokume's relatives died. She wasn't of age to get married and was failing school. The one person that Yokume had admired most was her mother. The first person she lost, was her mother. And she, was the original owner of the memory box.
