• The early sun slithered through the cracks in the window drape, making light rays sting through closed eyelids. She woke with a noisy yawn, sat up, and walked over to the dresser. There, pajamas were torn off and replaced with a dark tunic, belt, leggings, and cloak. Soon she was in front of a mirror, staring back at her blurred reflection. Carefully she wiped away the dust and arranged her hair to look its best.
Her reflection almost startled her, she hadn't seen herself in awhile, and it'd seemed as though she'd grown vaguely older. Though nobody else was sure to tell, for a year for her was ten for a human. Of course, even though she was 58 she only looked 18- what else can you expect from a half-elf? Her mother had been 108 when she was considered her human age, and her father- well her father was just... human.
A smile crept onto her face, and she immediately took notice of her yellowed teeth. Turning back around to face the door, she walked out while scurbbing her nails against the plaque.
The room door opened with a low moan, and her footsteps were heard downstairs. The inn-keeper looked up as she approached him, and he readied her breakfast of eggs and toast.
A table that she normally sat in was full. She glanced back at the inn-keeper, who glanced back at her nervously. He scurried across the room to whisper something in the groups ear, and the quickly got up and moved to another table. Grinning, she sat down and waited for her meal.
When a plate arrived at her table, she gulped it down greedily and tipped the waitor.
Now she was outside. Her cloak waving in the wind, going the same direction as her long hair that was now tied up in a high pony atop her head. Some guards looked up at her with suspicion in their gaze, but she remained calm and stared back with her fierce violet eyes piercing through theirs- which of course made them uncomfortable and they looked away.
Elaine, she thought to herself, today will be a good day. Looking down the street she began to walk in that direction, and turned down into a dark alley, where there she pushed aside a large cart. Beneath her feet was a door. She bent down and knocked three times. It opened cautiously, the man inside scurried her in and shut the door. Stairs lead down to a vast hall. The man blindfolded her and guided her through the rooms, until finally she arrived in a blue-lit area with priests and worshipers. There, she was unfolded, and was free to roam. Elaine sat down atop her knees, hugged the floor, and prayed.
