Yuki turned right and stood in front of his door and was ready to knock, but she let her hand drop. She felt so silly doing this and she didn’t want him to think she really wasn’t strong. She slid down the wall and rested her head against her knees, hugging them tightly.

The door opened suddenly and quietly, Zero leaning in the doorway, but she didn’t look up. It was silent in the hallway and finally Zero sighed.

“Yuki, get up.” She shook her head ‘no’. Zero moved out of the doorway and stood beside her against the wall, his arms crossed. For awhile no one spoke.

“Sorry,” she got up laughing,” I’m just tired. Don’t worry!” she waved her hands above her head and Zero stared at it. Yuki looked at her hand and saw that it was slightly bleeding still from the cut she got from the glass.

    Oh.

“You must hungry, Zero. Here,” she raised her hand to his lips and he grabbed it, but she didn’t expect his reaction that came.

He glared at her and took her hand, pulling her towards his room,” I’m not drinking your blood when you’re sick.”

They walked into his room and she sat down on his bed. He sat down beside her with a cloth and began to silently clean her wound. Zero didn’t say anything, but Yuki knew what he wanted to hear.

She had liked that about Zero. He never pried into your business, which gave you the impression that he really didn’t care, but he did care. He just didn’t like to express it.

    “It was just a nightmare…sorry.”

He didn’t say anything as he placed the bandage on her hand and looked up at her, her gaze focused out the window. She turned to him suddenly and sat up on her knees which made the bed squeak from the quick movement.

She gently took his face into her hands and his eyes grew a little in shock. He hadn’t seen her act like this before. She had a determined and pained look on her face.

“Zero,” she choked out, “don’t waste your time worrying about me, okay? Please.”

    I’m selfish.

She continued with a smile, but tears filled her eyes, ”I’m really not that great of person who should be cared about.”

The fever hit her at full force, and from her sudden movements, that she collapsed on him. He had caught her, placed her down on the bed and stood up. He glared, his eyes showing remorse and hurt.

She didn’t want him to worry about him? How could he not worry when she tried to do everything on her own. He was taking everything from her- her freedom, her ability to feel emotions freely and her blood. Why did she make it sound like she was the horrible person when he really was?

He watched her sleep and he went to sit beside her on the bed. He hesitated, but he brushed her check with his hand. She felt cold to his touch and he removed his jacket, placing it on her like a blanket. He looked at her neck and saw her veins that had blood rushing through them.

He hadn’t had any of her blood in a long time and he started to feel out of control.

The moonlight made his eyes a brighter red as he gave into instinct. He bent down and his fangs touched her neck and he jolted back, the mere touch of her skin bringing him back to reality. He had almost taken her blood. He held his arm in a death grip and glared, angry with himself.

“Yuki…!” His bangs covered his eyes, but she awoke to the sound of her name. She sat up because she thought there was danger,” What’s wrong?”

He looked at her, with the expression of a hurt and regretful child, like he should be scolded. Her heart went out to him and she suddenly reached to him and hugged him. He grabbed onto to her, desperate to control the monster he was and wanting comfort that he didn’t deserve.

He wouldn’t take from her, ever, he swore.

But he was too selfish to fulfill that promise.

Kaname stood outside Zero’s room as he watched the two before him. He had to keep his anger under control. He opened the door slightly as he watched Zero suffer from his conflicting feelings. He should suffer since he was taking from his precious girl, but Kaname really didn’t think he was suffering enough.

At least Zero could always be by Yuki’s side and not be hated.

Kaname closed the door and walked down the hallway as glass candleholders broke as he walked by and his gaze was deadly.

Zero would always have Yuki’s kindness.

Kindness, Kaname thought, that he didn’t deserve.

A/N: I hoped you liked it! Check out the other result and tell me which you liked better. Okay, it wasn’t romantic, but Zero doesn’t strike me as one.
