• tab It was a bright, sunny day in the small town of Lyrania. There was a thick blanket of snow on the ground and it was bitterly cold, especially with a harsh winter wind blowing. I was standing on the top of a hill that overlooked the town, knee deep in the freezing, wet snow.
tab "Welcome home Lyn," I muttered to myself as I stared down at the little town. The town was just as I had left it when I had left to hunt down my brother when I was 8-years-old. My mother's farm was at the foot of the hill and I started down towards it, the edge of my fur-lined cloak dragging behind me in the snow.
tab I was unsure if returning home was a good idea. Ever since I had left the farm I had been better off. Hunting my brother had given me a very prospective job but it had also made people fear me more than ever. I did not believe that I would be welcomed home.
tab As I approached the house my mother came out onto the porch. There were two boys shoveling a path from the steps to the road. One of them stopped working and looked up at me. I glared angrily at him and he quickly went back to his work.
tab When I reached the shoveled path my mother spoke to me. "Grab a shovel and help these boys I hired shovel the snow girl," she spat. I sighed, walked up to her, took a shovel from the deck, and got to work. My mother went back inside then, leaving me with the two boys. They stopped working and came over to me with fear and hatred in their eyes.
tab I dug my shovel into the snow and began to lean on it. "Why are you here," the boy that I had glared at earlier asked me harshly. "You're not welcome here."
