• At Madam Charleston's home for Orphaned Children, all the children were getting on a bus.It was the day of the orphanage's annual field trip, and this year was supposed to be the best one yet.
In Lucas Edgewood's opinion, that wasn't saying much. All of the field trips were as dull as watching paint dry.The previous year, they had gone to an art musuem, but unfortunatly, it's most interesting piece of art was the sign that said "Do Not Touch".This year, they were going to a planitarium. It was the only trip that actually sounded interesting."Attention, the bus will be leaving in three minutes!!"All the children loaded up, and off they went.
The drive there was long and horrible. The entire time, one of the boys kept screaming about "the walbles" and someone else sent pencils whooshing by Lucas' head with a rubber band. When they finally got to the planetarium, he was ready to bite someone's head off."This way, children, this way!"Madam Charleston shouted. When they got inside, Lucas gasped. It was the hugest place he had ever seen.
"Move!!!" one of the boys yelled, pushing Lucas to the floor. He ran over to the equipment used to train astronauts.Lucas glared, and turned back to look at the telescopes. When he turned around, there was a snap, and he heard the boy screaming. He turned to face the boy, and saw that he was in the giant gyroscope, spinning quickly.Another child looked, then another."Oh my!!"Madam Charleston ran to the boy, and helped him off."My dear boy, are you all right??How did this happen??"Weakly, the boy pointed a fat finger at Lucas."H-He did it."
When they returned to the orphanage, Madam Charleston pulled Lucas aside."You are confined to your quarters for a week."she told him."But I didn't do it,"he protested."I don't know what happened."
And that is how Lucas found himself confined to his quarters for two weeks.
