I squeezed my head through the metal bars.
“Do you see him?” Roger whispered to me.
“Mo…” I meant to say no but my face was too squished together.
    “Turn your head, then!”
“Nnnn…” my head wouldn’t budge. “I…sduck” my sigh ended up being a soft whistle. I strained my eyes as I looked to the very corner, seeing the guard sleeping on a wooden chair. “Ee aheap” I gripped the bars and pushed, pulling my head out.
Roger laughed. “You’ve got red line marks on your face!”
I rubbed my cheeks. “Shut up…but anyway, the guy’s asleep”
“Okay” he crossed his legs and leaned back against the wall.
I gape. “That’s all? You made me do that for nothing?!”
“I just needed to know so I wouldn’t have to whisper” he grinned.
“Stupid Roger…stupid” I grumbled. He’s being all calm when we’re in a cell. There was a short rustle. “You hear that?”
    “Hear what—“ it happened again.
The noise was coming from a pile of blankets in the right corner of the cell. It moved, we screamed, covered each others mouth, and stared as the blanket slowly drops.
“Wha!” I gasped. Three people were revealed. On the left was a man in his fourtys. He had black hair with some white strands and a stubby beard. In the middle was a little girl with long dark brown hair. Last was a boy, he looked just like the girl but with shorter hair—twins, maybe.
“A-are you planning to escape?” the man asks.
We dropped our hands and let out a breath. “Yeah”
“Will you take us with you?!” he got on his knees and bowed. “Please, if it’s too much people, just take my kids and leave me behind!” the twins start to protest.
    “Sure” Roger said bluntly.
    I stared at him. “R-really?”
The man raised his head. “Thank you, thank you! What can I do to repay you?”
    “A story”
    He was confused. “A story…?”
“Yes, of how you and your kids ended up in here”
“Uh…I…okay” he took a deep breath and slowly exhaled. “I stole money from a store so I could help take care of my kids. They were hungry and I didn’t know what else to do. We had no home to live in, no family to go for help, we were on our own. Then I got sent here, leaving my kids to fend for themselves. My son got caught stealing a loaf of bread to feed his sister. They came here together”
“Ehh? Then how come when I stole some candy…I got set in a time out pin instead of jail?” I ask.
Roger gave me a look as I said that.
“Well, most towns’ people try to punish criminals their own way. They believe that being put in jail would be to rough but they have no choice when one of the Revaltos or the guards sees the act” the man says.
    “Wait…what’s a Revaltos?” Roger asks.
“They’re descendants of Heranicus the Dragon Gladiator” I reply. “And are future warriors of Symphony. You know who they are by this” I tap chest. “They wear a golden dragon pin”
Roger looked confused. “And how do you know that…?”
“Oh because I…” should I tell him? I gulped. “This kid followed me and I decided to stay with him and well…”
He shakes his head. “He ended up being a Revoltos and then you got caught by guards. Am I right?”
    I nod sheepishly.
“That’s a high fenalty” The man suddenly says. “You’ll get sent to death for that” he stagers back, clutching his kids. “If they see us with you, they’ll think we’re in on you’re act and then they’d kill us too” his voice was shaky and getting loud—pure fear. “Get away, don’t come anywhere close!”
    “Hey, I—”
“Quite!” a voice boomed behind me. I turned around to see the guard, huge and awake.
“Th-they wont stop talking to me, s-sir!” the man says as he hugs his children closer. “They a-are planning to escape a-and they are thr-threatening me my kids to go with them!” his eyes were big and his teeth chattered. Sweat was dripping down his forehead.
The guard was infuriated. “Escape? Escape?!” his tone was murderous. “We have special treatment for you scums if you plan to escape” he holds up his scythe spear. “Death”
Then, in a flash, he drops back unconscious, eyes bulging. Me and Roger trade confused glances. There was a clatter as our cell bars fell on the floor. I looked forward and saw that there’s a square hole, cut clean from the sides. It was big enough for someone to walk through it.
“We’d better leave now, guys!” Jen pops up form the side. He tossed Roger his sword. “Get yours yourself” he says to me. I guess mine was too heavy for him to carry. “Hurry, before we get caught!”
I dashed out the new door, grabbed my hammer, and turned to Roger who wasn’t moving. “What are you waiting for?” I yelled.
Roger hesitates, looking at the man and his kids.
“Go” the man says. “Just go”
Roger looks down then leaves. Jen was leading us the way out. We reached the top of the stairs then entered the courtyard. But we didn’t know they were going to be there.
