• Ephriam looked down at the figure rested beneath his branch and just watched. From the way she looked now, she wasn't a creature but a mere human, and he, with Real Sight could see she was no more human than himself. He, Ephriam, was the devil Dragon, a spirit devil. The reason he had been sent to infultrate this rotten human society was to find out more about them.
Hell, he thought, my superiors sent me to hell.
Well, what he had done was wrong and no one ever wanted this assignment, so as punshment for breaking the rules, he would spend one year here, watching human society. He hated giving field reports every night to the leader of his clan, but then again, he could have been exiled, so this wasn't that bad.
And then his thoughts were brought back to the girl sitting on the ground directly bellow his branch. It was hard to see her face because her strawberry blonde bangs were covering it completly. Her legs were spread out it front of her and he noticed how smooth they looked from here. She was writing in a small, fragile looking notebook. He saw with surprise that she wore the same school uniform that he did, the same high school uniform. Why is it that he had never noticed her before?
The one thing above all else that he saw, was a pair of leathery midnight blue wings resting on the ground on either side of her, coming from invisible holes in the back of the school vest. It was just himself that could see them, no human in existence had that ability.
Ephriam wondered wether he should go down and talk to her. He wanted to know from was clan she hailed. Then he felt, that he just wanted to know anything she could tell him about herself.
Very slowly, as to not alarm her to his prescence above, he climbed down the back side of the tree. So far, she wasn't aware of him. He walked with caution around to the other side and either she still hadn't seen him standing beside her, or she was to emmersed in her work.
Now he clearly saw her face and it was true, that she was too deep into her work to see him. Her features were gentle and he once again asked himself how he could have missed her in a school as small as thiers.
Kneeling down nest to her, he whispered, "What are you writing?"
She looked up slowly and her glassy, sparkling periwinkle blue eyes just stared into him. Putting the notebook into her lap, she answered, "It's about the world."
"Thats a big subject." he answered, his head resting on his folded up knees. After this they stayed silent, just staring at each other for ages, she said to him, "You have wings too."
"Oh," he looked behind him uncomfortably and said, "Yes, there mine. It dont much like my color, but yours are an odd shade. What clan are you?"
"Clan?" she asked, "What do you mean, clan?"
He looked again into her eyes and asked, "You dont know what clan you come from? How odd. Usually you would know were you came from."
Suddenly, she became so much less formal with him, because it was a natural thing for he to be speaking to him. It was an instinct to know that he was a trustworthy person, "Yeah, I've had these all my life. Neither of my parents can see them, but when I asked them why they don't have wings too, they told me I was adopted."
"So you dont know what you are?"
"No," she said. Whistfully, she looked at the city bellow her and said, "I've never felt at home here. I don't know were I belong, but I know it's not here. I love my mother and father, but this is not were I belong."
He smiled at her and hugged his knees together, saying "I know what you mean. Being here isn't my idea of fun. It's not were we should be. We should be flying over the land and mountains, free to be seen by anyone, not hiding what we are with these bodies."
She looked at Ephriam with facination in her eyes now, "So you've flown? How is it? Is it magical?"
"You mean to say you've never flown?" he asked.
"I never knew I could. Can we fly in these bodies?"
He scanned the city swiftly, saying, "It's not easy, but possible. It's much easier to fly if your in your true form, but I have order not to transform here under any sircumstances."
"I always felt there was something in me, roaring to get out." she chuckled, making him stare at her again, "I knew this wasn't the real me. But something is stopping me from taking on what form I was meant to. It's like a restraint that when I try to release whats inside of me, it holds my lungs and heart and the agonizing pain keeps me trapped in here."
He thought for a moment, not saying anything to her quite yet. To him, that sounded like someone had put a binding spell on her. It stopped you from reaching your true form. The thing you needed to lift it was simple. You neeced the element from were you come. Dragons come from fire, so for himself, he would need to me emersed in fire. But were did she come from?
He looked over at her and watched as tears leeked onto her shirt. "I want to go home." she whispered. But where was her real home?
"If it's the last thing I do, I'll help you find were you belong. No Spirit should be left in this world, feeling like you do. We'll find were you elong together." he said to her.
She whiped her eyes with her sleeve and asked, "Why would you help me?"
Smiling, he said, "Because I know how it feels to want to go home."
    "Thank you."
