• tab "What the heck was that for?! Tom...uh...Jr. hears that!"
tab "Tom Jr.? You make that up off the top of your head?" He chuckles, and goes on,
tab "And I don't think my little 'Tom Jr.'s' hearing anything. After all, this is invisible to him, and it does have a special kind of muffler."
tab "Uh...What?" He holds the shattered frame and takes out the picture. Inside it is a round, black chip, about identical to the size of a poker chip. Tom tosses it up and catches it back in his hand, then whispers into it,
tab "You thought you were clever, didn't you now?" Quickly, then, he slams the chip into the wall. It crumbles to the ground into bits and pieces of metal. Tom makes a 180 to me, and says,
tab "Daniel. He placed a bug in this room to gather more information about the crime we're dealing with."
tab "How'd you--how'd you know that was even a bug?" Tom raises three fingers and says,
tab "Three different ways. One, my PAD."
tab "I've heard those letters in a row together, but somehow, I don't think it stands for the same thing I'm thinking of." He gives a smile. Smile equals "not good" from Tom.
tab "Probably not. PAD stands for Past Altered Detector. With this, you can tell if something's been changed in the past, as the name implies." He walks close to me and shows me his watch. Only...it's not a watch. It's a blank, green screen.
    tab "Uh...I'm not seeing anything."
tab "And that's a good thing," Tom points out. "If the screen were blinking red, it would mean something of the past has been altered." He taps his PAD, and says,
tab "This little baby draws the memories of your past and detects what wasn't in your memories. As soon as something doesn't compute, it starts blinking red lights."
tab "Wow...And your second reason?" He shrugs.
tab "Takes on from the first. You see, this thing doesn't pin point the exact contradiction to your memories, so then you have to use your actual memory to see where the thing that's not supposed to be there is."
tab "The third and final way is simple. A comfirmation. Take off your IME and see if anything..." He snatches the IME from my eyes, and whispers dramtically,
tab "Disappears." Tom and the frame are instantly gone, and instantly back as he places the pair of glasses back on my head.
tab "All right. Now that we're done with that side track, let's get to the basement. My mom's going to be back soon."
tab "There something we gotta do in the basement?" Tom shakes his head "no" and proceeds towards the door. I follow him, picking up the pace as he continues to quick walk downstairs.

tab "Mr. Daniel..." Daniel swipes around, and exclaims,
tab "Mr. Daniel?! Where the heck did that come from? 'Sir' or 'Daniel' would do just fine, Adam." Adam gives a guilty puppy face, not even fitting for a man his size.
tab "The bug...it been destroyed." Daniel cracks a smile.
tab "It's not a bug. And yes, of course it has." He let out a grand, victorious laugh, and palm slaps his forehead, shaking his head with a cocky attitude.
tab "You know, I almost feel sorry for him, that Tom. He thinks he's winning, and yet he has caused the very thing that has made him lose."
