• Long, silky dark brown hair clung to her waist, her smile as bright and white as clouds and her eyes a breathtaking blue, so kind and innocent…the memory flashed in his mind before he could stop it, her screaming, burning in fire, a scared expression captured in her eyes but…also…something else…..love? Joshua woke up, sweat glistening on his tanned face with his thick brown hair messed around, his bright, emerald green eyes flashing surprise and fear for a second before realization dawned on him. It was just a dream he thought, just a dream… but it was so real, so different from the other dreams he had before. And that girl, he didn’t even know who she was! Who was she? The beautiful girl still clung to his brain like moss on rock. Drip, drip…suddenly, Joshua realized his flashing alarm clock, it beeped and rang, he was so deep in thought, but now he was back in present, it was past 8am!

If he stopped trying to get breakfast, he was going to be late for university! He had a new session starting today instead of going on Summer vacation. He tried to put his new dream aside and started getting ready, a quick toast and juice would do and he headed out the door, telling his dad that he was going to school before leaving. Joshua found his keys and started starting the motor on his van. He had saved up his summer jobs, allowance, everything for his very own car, it had seemed to pay off as he started relaxing against the soft velvet cushions and started driving. He was there in no time, he ran into class but he realized that only a few classmates were there almost dozing off while a professor he has never seen before talked in a loud, booming voice, studying Science in a complicated way he had never seen before. He took a quiet seat besides one of his fellow classmates. Although no matter how hard Joshua tried to concentrate, the girl’s image kept pushing itself into his brain, his thoughts, everything. He decided he couldn’t keep this up any longer; he excused himself from the class for the day and decided to go back home, clear his confused and hazed mind. When he went inside the house, he saw his dad reading the daily newspaper.

Back so soon? Asked his dad, he decided he would keep the dream to himself, at least until his girlfriend came back from her trip to the South. “Uh…yea, wasn’t feeling well today…” said Joshua.
“Well, alright, go upstairs and get some rest.” That boys never been the same since his mother died…and so have I.
Joshua’s answer broke his train of thought “Ok dad. Will do…”
Joshua went upstairs and decided to sleep, it was the only thing that would calm him right now, he needed some answers, no matter how stupid they were going to be.

Another flash and suddenly he was watching a new scene, his mom smiling at him as he came down, hot cinnamons that woke him up… how much he missed that, his dad giving his mom a quick kiss on the cheek before going to work. Flash more real, more scary, his mom being murdered by a person covered in darkness and shadows, the knife striking down while she screamed…
