• Chapter two -> Darkness Into The Light Of Truth

Always fearing the worst - typical for anyone, especially if the Queen was leading you through these brightly strange but somehow familiar hallways.

That's what ran through my mind at the time, fearing the worst as I kept glancing out the windows into the steady rain. The sound of Amaterasu's heels of her shoes made a clack clack sound, breaking the silence, but deafening it.

"Come in please." She said in her soft voice, opening a wooden door and letting me in. She oddly reminded me of someone. That spark in her eyes, that smile.

"Thank you." I told her, and someone pulled a chair out for me to sit in. It was this seventeen year old Vampire. He was newly changed, it was quite clear.

I sat down on the chair, and he passed a hand through his disheveled dirty blonde hair, his blue eyes shining. He sat down on the chair he was at before.

Amaterasu sat on the chair across from me.

"Yumi, there is a problem." She sighed, and motioned for a guard to bring this olden wooden box in front of me.

"I'm going to get right down to it." She said grimly. "In front of you is a amulet, the powers it holds are astonishing. No one can wear it, not even I." The guard opened it.

Revealing a beautiful blue gem, that had white mist swirling in it, as well as red and green and yellow mist circling around it. It shone, and the golden chain was polished to perfection.

"No one can even touch it. I want you to try."

"Do you make every Blood Daughter and Son have a try?" I asked in confusion. I reached out towards the pendant.

"Have you not wondered why our gift to you for your coming of age is so different?" She asked.

    "Yes. Alot."

"Because. You have powers that go beyond the norm. This amulet will awaken those powers. You may be the only one who may be able to save our world from darkness, as well as the human world."

"Oh, dear Goddess." I muttered. My fingers were an inch from the chain. My fingertips touched the stone.

Everyone sucked in air. I looked at them, and then I put my hands closer to the stone, my fingers touching it.

A light wave pulsed around the room, making my hair move in the wave. Then another passed after, and then another.

The colors that swirled in the pendant crept up my arms and sank into my skin as I picked up the stone and held it in my hands, my eyes shining. I looked at it deeper, my thumb stroking the gem.

"And what are my powers?" I asked, examining the pendant.

"Earth, Fire, Water, Wind, Darkness." The new vampire beside me said. "There are the Four Powers too, and they are scattered somewhere in the world. You are the fifth, the one who counts for stopping the darkness. If one of you five die, then it's all over. They have asked a Blood Son to acompany you in your journey to keep you safe."

    "Who is...?"

    "Me. That's why I'm here."

I put the amulet around my neck, and I saw an invisible coat of white magic coat my skin. The guard put four more boxes in front of me.

"The Four will need amulets too, to activate their powers. You need to find them and give it to them, and bring them back here." Amaterasu said.

"How do I know who they are?" I opened the other boxes.

"They have a dragon tattoo around their right arm going down from the elbow and one atop their thigh, and one on their face." My face grew pale.

"I have those... except the one on my face goes to my waist..."

The four amulets shone. Blue for water, Red for fire, Green for wind, and Yellow for earth.

The guy beside me - I didn't know his name - picked up the boxes and motioned with his head that we go now. We walked to the door and I wa son my way out when,

"Yumi..." I heard a whisper behind me. I spun around and saw the Queen in tears.

"Mistress, I plea, do not cry." I said softly, standing beside her. "I shall save the world. I promise."

She nodded, getting all snotty and with puffed cheeks. I spun and left the room.

    "My child..."

"Saddle up!" Kiluner - the Vampire prince, I had learned - said. He mounted on his grey horse, and I stroked the mane of my mare. Her name was Lunar, and she had wisdom in her eyes.

"You're a beauty, you know that?" I asked her.

Most say that, but they just want me to run for them. She stamped her hoof on the soil for effect.

"Well you truly are pretty. Don't let anyone tell you otherwise, alright sweetie?" I stroked her nose.

I will bring you where you need to go, Mistress.

"I'm not a Mistress." I laughed, tilting my head back and laughing into the sky. "But I apreciate the compliment."

    If you say so...

"I know so." I patted her back, and mounted. Kiluner sighed in exasperation.

"What were you doing? It sounded liek you two were conversing." He commented. I fixed the weapon at my waist. Under his protest, I said we must both have a weapon to defend with.

    "I was."

    "How so?"

I shrugged. "I can hear her and speak with animals, and they speak with me."

"Interesting." He clucked twice, and the horses shot out of the stables. They ran along the dirt path.

"What did Amaterasu mean by 'My child...'? It sounded like..."

    "You don't know?" He asked.

    "Apparently I don't." I muttered.

"The Queen lost her child during the Renegade of the Dark Ones."

"You make it sound so bad." I shivered.

"It was. About seventeen years ago the Dark Ones - a group of badass immortals - sought out the Prophetic One. A girl who was said to save the world. They wanted her to turn her evil. Story goes they took her away, but she died when a Vampire lost control of his need for blood. She was half human, you see." He sighed. "The Queen doesn't want to send you to your demise."

"Seventeen years ago... what date was it when they came here?" I asked. The horses sped along the path, their hooves hitting the ground with muted thuds.

    "May seventh, why?"

I froze, my hands on the reins turning to ice.

    "What is it?" He asked.

    "That's my birthday."
